So that's where Jeremy Wilson went after leaving the Echo... I did wonder.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/birmingham_city/8033229.stm And so, something we once 'aspired' to, is now what David Gold and Birningham aspire to... Given our predicament after such a proclaimation, I might put a fiver on Birmingham going into Administration...

Fair point, and yeah, if we were to get ACCURATE figures and explanations for what happened, then of course I would be interested to see it. I'm just not sure how accurate any figures in the public domain actually are at present. But then, beyond that, I maintain my point. Maybe it's just me, but I just don't care about analysing it all because I have grown so tired of it all. I really do hope that anyone who has made a mistake or contributed to our downfall, will learn from it, but if those people are to no longer be at the club (I hope) then I want to move on and let new people run the club as they see fit. Each to their own... obviously I understand people wanting to know more about what went on, but not me.
-
Come on Dunc, I know you're sensible enough to appreciate the sentiments behind what Ponty and I meant. It is, of course, always important to learn from the mistakes of the past but I just think there comes a point where you have to let it go, else you can become consumed by it so much that it prevents you getting on. Plus, the people that MADE those mistakes are the ones who need to learn from them, and hopefully we'll have completely new people involved in our club...

Amen to that.

As I've just posted on another thread, the single most important thing IMO, is not a 'name' but someone who gets results, or at least shows the potential to. A 'name' to attract Season Ticket sales is of no use whatsoever if we don't progress ON the pitch, and personally, I doubt that Season Ticket sales will be affected all that much by the manager anyway. We'll be in League 1, hardly attractive in itself, so if you're gonna get a ST, you'll probably do it anyway. I would if I could afford it. I agree with others above who say it's not 'make or break'... or if it is, then only in the same way as every other managerial appointment. But it all comes down to ability, getting the best out of the team (and that means coaching success, not buying it), and getting results. I wouldn't be averse to Wotte staying, but I do think there are better options out there.
-
Quite frankly, the only way that any manager will do that is by getting results first and foremost, and hopefully playing some decent football along the way. I really do not care who is our manager, barring a few personal exceptions. I have an idea of the kind of manager that I think would be ideal, and Tisdale is in that mould. Who would describe Nigel Pearson as 'an exciting manager who will put bums on seats'? I don't think any of us did when we first appointed him, but he did the job required, and has gone even further this season with Leicester. Doing THAT will put bums on seats. A 'name' means little or nothing, unless it's backed up with ability, and that goes for players and managers, and while we're at it, owners too.

Oops. (341-8 at the close)

At the risk of tempting fate, we're trundling along quite nicely, 291-4 as I type, Ervine 106no, and Pothas 56no.

'Stick in the mud'...?! Awesome, not been called that for at least 20 years.
-
In that case, for the good of your own health, may I suggest you log off and never come back to this forum?!

Who's playing tomorrow then?!
-
Erm, hang on people... I hardly think that an attempt by fans of a club in administration, to tap up a manager already under contract elsewhere, is really the most sensible idea in the world... IF it were to happen, and that is a humungous IF... then it would be our new owners that we would have to convince first, and then they would approach Exeter for permission to talk. We are a million miles (more infact) away from even the first part of that right now.
-
What gets me is that these adverts are viewed by thousands, and often millions of people... is there any other organisation that acts (or can act) on such a small percentage of complainants?!
-
Exactly the kind of manager I would support 100%, having learnt his trade in lower leagues, and having shown what he can do in terms of coaching and improving an existing squad rather than buying success. For all these reasons, I'm afraid to say that my cynical side (yes, I do have one) tells me he won't be coming here.

Adverts that have received the most complaints: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8020881.stm There are some seriously sad people out there.

Well, it was a fair chance that someone else had watched it...

Blatently lifted from 'Have I Got News For You'... still funny though.

I did say 'to whatever degree'... i'm not really sure how much there was... all i do know is that any such actions reflect badly on Southampton Football Club. I know it happens at most grounds most weeks, (again, to different degrees) and so my opinion is of all of football, not just this one game, but I find it a real shame that's it's virtually accepted - a 'non-shocker' to use your phrase - as part of the game nowadays. Always after such incidents, we hear how the police or stewards made it worse by doing x, y or z, and yet the route cause of it all, the fans involved, are supposedly blame free because 'that's football'. The police are FAR from perfect, I fully accept that, but they are in a very difficult situation. If they weren't needed in the first place, the club would save a lot of money, and none of this discussion would be needed. But they are needed, because fans simply can't be trusted to behave themselves. Football will probably always have this aspect to it, but just because it happens so often, doesn't make it right IMO.
-
The general pitch invasion isn't the focus here, it's the fans who confronted the Burnley fans, the subsequent trouble (to whatever degree) and the police in the middle of it all, that most people are concerned with.
-
I just find it a shame that any 'Police tactics' are necessary at all... if our 'fans' didn't go on the pitch to face up to the Burnley fans in the first place, then none of this would be necessary. Do these fans actually think about, or even care about, the consequences of their actions?
-
Mike Jones - Saturday's ref to exagerate pitch invasion?
Minty replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
FWIW, the ref did not actually blow up for the foul on Paul Wotton... as Wotton fell to the ground, the ref was actually blowing for full-time then. I clearly heard the three distinct blows. Then the players were gesturing for assistance for Wotton, and a few other players started to shake hands etc. -
Wow. To be honest, whether he won ot lost wouldn't have mattered, just doing it is plain nuts IMO. There are far more important things in life...
-
What about him? Same went for him... short term media interest, make a few people a bit of money off the back of it, and back to obscurity. None of which had anything to do with whether he could sing or not, just like the rest of the music industry.
