A good few years ago when I was cycling regularly, I took part in a Helly Hansen event with two friends close to Longmoor camp, which was part running, part MTB and part kayaking. I'd never really done any MTB until then and enjoyed it, but I certainly noticed the difference in effort and exertion! I still prefer on road but will always remember that event.

Yes, forgot about the Pig, very good. Prefer the one in Brockenhurst, but Southampton one is still good.

I haven't bought the new bike yet because I might be leaving my current job - and I also struggle to work out when I would get out on the road other than commuting, and fitting it in with running too which I need to increase. And if I'm not doing my current full time job, then I'm usually doing stuff for the business I own. Not enough time in the week. Frustrating.

Oxford Brasserie was one of my favourites on Oxford Street.... this is different from Oxfords. Only been to White Star once but it was very nice. Mango (Thai) is in the City Centre or Portswood and is my favourite ethnic place. Someone is probably going to recommend Turtle Bay for Carribbean food, but we prefer Coco Rio http://www.cocorio.co.uk/ ... Probably forgotten some others, but they're the ones that spring to mind.

Fair points. I personally think we should do away with having candidates for individual constituencies - parties should put forward their policies and proposed cabinet, and we should vote on that... plenty of other changes too, but haven't got time or inclination to put it all here. Suffice to say that I think the whole thing needs ripping up.

Which would also trash any shred of credibility that our political process has, if MPs defect purely based on their own selfish needs, and not the policies and morals that they feel they should represent. Not that I would be surprised either.

Clearly you have more interest than just recording the odd memory of an event so if you're serious about it, then do as I suggest and get along to some lower level matches first to learn about positioning around the pitch, anticipating your shot, player movement, framing, AF tracking, required shutter speeds etc. You may love Saints and think it's an ideal opportunity to mix your two interests but you're better off going to a game where you have less personal interest in what is going on, and can focus on the technical aspects of what you're doing. That also means you can just enjoy the Saints game where you probably won't learn as much because it's Saints, and where you probably won't last more than 3 minutes with your camera out anyway. (I realise that you may now be asking how I was able to do it for 18 months, including the FA Cup Final, without being distracted as a Saints fan - but I was quite lucky and happened to know the club photographer at the time well through another route, and so when the chance came, I wasn't going to throw it away. Your situation is slightly different!) If you want any more tips or info, drop me a PM.

Don't even try it, especially with a 100-400mm. If you want to start shooting football, get to a semi-pro game when Saints are away and start there.

Surely 'Parents were cousins' is pretty much the same thing?! -
Nicked from Facebook: Would any of us NOT be in one if we lived back then?! Spot the one that would've been most prevalent in Pompey...

Indeed - tis lazy to only blame this on Davis (as many have done) or Clyne (as some have done). Wanyama's initial header was poor, Morgan was then looking up at the ball as though he was going to challenge for it, but hesitated as he thought Davis was going to. Davis did the same (more understandably IMO, as Morgan would be heading the ball away from goal) and you can see him hesitate as he thinks Morgan is going to go for it, leading to him making a challenge late. The resulting header falls to Sturridge, Clyne being the wrong side of him and unable to get a challenge in to even prevent what was a poor finish, and Forster could possibly have been more decisive to come out quicker. All in all a very poor goal to concede, no one individual to blame, but also something that can be worked on... the Morgan of last season would've gone straight for the ball and won it IMO.

PLP worked superbly for me, although I didn't watch live, had friends round, I was able to watch 'as live' once they'd gone and skipped through quieter bits. Excellent quality though, very much worth paying for IMO.

Main thing to think about today is that we performed much better than most, if not all, of us predicted, and therefore are far better set for the season that we probably expected. We're far from where we want to be and there are plenty of improvements to be made, but given the turnover of players we've had, to put in that performance was very encouraging. Too soon to judge individual players - some will take longer than others to get up to speed... remember how long it took players when we were first promoted, and look at most of them now (including the likes of Lambert, Lallana who've moved on). Keep the faith, with one more addition that Koeman mentioned (attacking player) and Gardos to come in to the starting XI, I think my prediction of 12th may even be too cautious. All in all it's a decent start, shame to lose, but a performance to give a lot of hope. Stay behind the players, even if some of them take longer to settle than others, or aren't quite firing on all cylinders. We can build something decent again here. Keep the faith.

I didn't... you can be in Taiwan for work or something and still have a credit card and billing address in the UK... for example.

Exactly what I've got, works a treat. Al Jazeera was good last season, but with their rights issues PLP looks much better now, and the website is a lot better/simpler too.
