  1. Personally I think that if Mr Alpine needs this forum to vent, (19,000+ posts) then that's fair enough. It's probably doing him some good, and if he wasn't able to post here he might be a right miserable barsteward in real life !
  2. I agree, and more than that the quality of football is better than it was in the old first division that I grew up with, it's like the Premier League has been plonked on top of the old 1st Division, and brought a lot of mercenaries, journeymen and outstanding footballers that we would never have seen playing on English grass. But, ignore the Premier League for a second, and the Championship is a great league, with good footballers and big crowds and we also get a reasonable number of live games on TV to enjoy the whole thing. Having said that, I reserve the right to feel seriously elated when we win promotion on Saturday !!!!!!
  3. "It wasn't a professional foul" - good grief ! It was the most blatant professional foul you'll ever see, and he got away with it. What you're arguing is whether or not it was a "clear goal scoring opportunity" which would have been a mandatory red card. However refs are perfectly entitled to issue a straight red for any professional foul. But anyway, as you say, a clear yellow card offence if not red.
  4. I saw them beat a full strength Norwich at Carrow Road in the FA Cup this season; they're a pretty good side on their day.
  5. St Marys will be rocking next Saturday and it's going to be a truly memorable occasion!!
  6. Bristol City 1:0 up !!!!

    Pin Badges.

Worn Prince Albert style is ideal
  8. Ummm, not sure I'd agree with that; seemed lightweight and lacked composure for most of last season, then came good in the last few games; and this season hasn't pushed on and hasn't been a key player for Norwich.
  9. Hi Danny, It must have been you and your brother etc that I was chatting to on the train after the game; good to meet you all.
  10. Yep, made from the very finest 1950's corrugated iron technology :-)
  11. Right back Mark Little is capable of bombing on down the wing at great speed as well but hopefully Adam will keep him busy in their half.
  12. Brilliant!....that's pretty much what I was going to write....
  13. Absolutely right !
  14. I'm with you on this.... It's still all to play for, let's keep our nerve and we'll enjoy it all the more when we win 2nd place!
  15. We need to keep our nerve....If we are "doing a Norwich" we can learn from what I saw them do at Carrow Rd last year against Reading, keep believing to the end... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/9390096.stm
  16. Spot on !

    Guly

As a kid at the Dell I was shocked at the impatience and abuse that Terry Paine got from large sections of the crowd; and it still puzzles me why people would undermine a player like Guly in the red and white who is a decent player and whose heart is in the right place. I know he hasn't played as well as he's capable of for a good few games, but neither had Cork and Chaplow before today, and people have been a lot more lenient with them.
  18. Means nothing.... He's always like that !

Best wishes to you and your family at this very sad time.
  20. No; why embarrassed? the table doesn't lie.
  21. I don't know about you guys, but I sort of knew Sharp was going to miss the pen. Body shape, length of run up....something not right, whereas their penalty taker, longer run up, confident posture, felt like it was going in all the way. LTC's right, a lot of it is in the head....
  22. Yes, well done to everyone there, magnificent performance !
  23. I make it that even if West Ham win ALL of their remaining games, and we get 2 points a game in ours, our goal difference will probably see us up! and that's leaving Reading out of the equation... So it's still very much in our hands...
  24. It's wind !
