....and, Rickie plays mainly with head up, Holt mainly with head down

"strikingly similar playing and physical characters, as Grant Holt". Living in Norwich I've had the pleasure of watching Grant Holt play many times and I disagree that his playing style is at all similar to SRL's (except that they are both English strikers). As everyone here will be familiar with Rickie's style I'll concentrate on Holt at Norwich.... * favoured running at defences and into channels * slow but powerful runner, happy to use strength / shoulders to muscle past defenders * not a great first touch * not a bad football brain but limited skill to execute therefore mainly stuck to his strengths * you'd rarely see him do what SRL does and keep possession and wait for the right ball to play, always urgency * wound up opposition players constantly (off the ball kicks and elbows sometimes leading to retaliation and opponent getting sent off) * always ready to go down easily in hope of free kick / penalty * gung-ho, never say die attitude, loved by Carrow Rd faithful * not able to play the range of roles SRL is capable of (SRL used to play in midfield remember)

This is a fantastic book, if you haven't decided to go for it yet then I would highly recommend you go for it. It's clearly not a book to read cover to cover in one go, but I find that I dip into it often, then every time spend longer than expected skipping from player to player. For me the best thing about the book (apart from the great photos & illustrations) is that although it's brimming with facts, it's written in a warm and entertaining style, sometimes amusing, sometimes opinionated but always respectful of each player's achievements; this is clearly a labour of love by fans for fans. A massive achievement!

Thanks, yes it's there for me now, I must have been getting an old version of the page yesterday (I swear the list ended in Suited & Booted yesterday!). Anyway, book ordered! Thanks again.

Thanks but... Can't see how to do it, the "buy" link takes you to a page where the other books can be added to cart, but not this one. I'm raising this here because others may be interested

Yes! If you weren't there you would have enjoyed hearing the Norwich fans moaning as they trudged off home in the blizzard!!!! -
Didn't Newcastle knock us out of Europe once (on away goals)? Also they beat us in the final of some anglo scottish cup (after we beat Rangers over 2 legs in the semis).

Thought I'd better warn any of you going to Newcastle........:-) "Sunday Is French Day - Make Sure You Get Involved! St. James' Park is set to have a little more joie de vivre on display than usual this Sunday after Newcastle United's home fixture with Southampton was designated 'French Day'. In homage to our growing Gallic contingent, which now stands at ten players following five new arrivals from across the Channel in January, 'Le Toon' fans are invited to dress up, paint their faces and bring along their Tricolore banners early to immerse themselves in a French-inspired theme across the stadium. There will also be chance for a sing-along before kick-off as singer Gavin James Burke arrives on Tyneside to join in the festivities, with further themed entertainment on the pitch at half-time. Ticket holders in the family enclosure, meanwhile, will be in the spirit of things with a team of dedicated face painters. And the pièce de résistance is yet to be revealed, with several other surprises awaiting fans at Sunday's game. Events and entertainment will be taking place from 1pm on Sunday and fans are advised to arrive early to ensure they don’t miss any of the action"

I don't know about lots of local papers but the coverage of Saints in the Echo is very very poor compared with the comprehensive coverage given to Norwich City in the Eastern Daily Press and Eastern Evening news, both of which are also far better local newspapers in non-football respects as well.

Ipswich away for me, majestic performance by Cork (which he probably didn't better all season) and great attacking play, Lambert's goals, Morgan's flick for Adam.....
