You certainly could make your way around the ground if you were prepared to hop over a lowish wall in each corner, Spurs fans were well known for having a group making their way around the ground in single file, occasionally skirmishing with any Saints fan who objected. Another example, in early 1970s I was standing in the corner of Milton Rd and loads of hard core looking Wolves fans were pushing past to get over a wall into lower East Stand, we thought we were in trouble but one of them said "excuse us lads" (we were only young boys!).

I asked my Hammers supporting mate (season ticket holder) about Downes and he said... "Tidy and hard tackling"

My favourite Ron moment was when he spoiled the moment when co-commentating with Brian Moore during some international game There was a pause in play and the camera panned across the celebs in the posh seats... "There's the great Pele" said Brian, "...and The Kaiser Franz Beckenbaur..." "and there's my neighbour Mrs Millichip!" interrupts Ron

Aarons is more of an up and down wing back and doesn't have the range of skills of KWP in my opinion, although he's probably faster than KWP and perhaps a better defender, but he would be less well suited to the close passing in tight areas that Russel Martin's style needs.

The feeling's mutual after his flukey winner against us in that FA Cup quarter final replay!

To be fair, he said that he thought Jones said some stupid things in his recent post-match interviews, not that Jones is a stupid person; however I agree that it's still a remarkable word to use and suggests to me that Jones is on borrowed time

I agree, God is convinced that 3 at the back is the only way to play and promotes zonal marking at corners which can be a nightmare for players used to man to man; however one postitive is that He would definitely advise against the Salisu long throws.

That picture is really useful, gonna print it off !

As a teenager in the early '70s I had a plastic version of the badge (about 6" x 5") on my bedroom wall, in fact I only got rid of it in a clear out a couple of months ago.

Yep, Cantwell definitely more central than wide.

Yes, he is exactly the player he was at Norwich before joining us, no better - no worse

Do we think Ings has had a touch of the Fontes? .....meaning, thought he was going to get the big "step-up" move to Manchester, when that didn't happen he feels he has burned his bridges and / or feels too proud to back down, and just takes the best contract on offer (West Ham, Villa) even though it's more of a sideways than upwards move.

During the games last season, with the absence of crowd noise, you could hear Ralph shouting instructions to the players non-stop throughout games; and he seemed to particularly concentrate on micro-managing Djenepo who was often near the technical area. On one occasion this went "go up Moussa!......go up Moussa!....Moussa, you can go further up the pitch now!". And Djenepo just seemed bemused by the constant coaching, trying to do his best and getting some pretty rugged treatment from the opposition. My reading of this is that he came to the club expecting to be used as an attacking flair player, and found a reality where he needs to fit into a disciplined machine, with lots of work off the ball and closing down when not in possession. I reckon he could flower into a great player if he can fully adapt to what Ralph wants him to do for 95% of the game, while still being able to express himself and do the unexpected (in a good way!) when we are attacking.

Did anyone else hear the item on 5 Live earlier....? A European journalist said that Poch would not be a good fit at PSG because player power is too strong. As evidence for this view he said that when at Saints, Poch heard that Lallana had a direct line of communication with the Saints chairman and was moaning about things, Poch was livid and tried to insist that all grievances went to him. The journalist implied that at PSG there were too many "personalities" who would not buy into the Pochettino authority / work ethic

Was anyone else at that strange Cup Final (1st leg) against Newcastle back then, "Texaco Cup" I think, we beat Rangers to reach the final?

Agree! I look back fondly at Wembley Johnstones Paint thing and Antonio's performance for us. He's developed himself into a top player!

Two superb goals and KWP man of the match in my opinion.
