  1. Worked for Newcastle when they gave it to their club hero Shearer...
  2. Was not that great over here in Argentina but does fit the bill of target man that we have been looking for. He is quite awkward with the ball at his feet and isn´t a goalscorer.. Can´t help but feel underwhelmed.
  3. General thoughts on the FA Cup Final (coming on for Niemi) and being the first player to do this in an FA Cup Final. Did he come close to leaving after becoming understudy to Niemi?
  4. I wish the lad well. Of course going to a larger club you are going to earn more, but I think he just honestly wanted to push on in his career like any one of us would want to do.. It hasn´t worked out but let´s not forget the years of service he gave as we rose up the leagues. Even after he had his move rejected first time around he knuckled straight back down (think he may have got a goal or two against West Ham) and gave us a final great season.
  5. He sits above Neil McCann that´s for sure... http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-southampton/rueckennummern/verein/180
  6. Just a comment on the podcasts in general. I thought the first couple could be improved and came across a tad monotone but they have really improved sonce and youve managed to get a good mix of people on and they have got me feeling quite nostalgic. Keep up the good work! Ive really enjoyed listening to them over here in Argentina.
  7. Agree - poor season last year but if he returns to form this year this will be looked upon as good business. Shrewd move I think
  8. Ha. I think it could well be.
  9. Delph alongside Romeu... I´d be happy with that.
  10. It´s a tough one. Perhaps it´s all too easy to forget the season he had a couple of years ago (especially the second part of it) when he was one of our best players... but he does not score enough and I´m not convinced that all of his running leads to much either... 10 mil and I would sell..
  11. During the time we rose up the leagues it was Guly for me. Think he made his debut against Tranmere and we won 2-0. It was quite exotic having a Brazilian playing for us in League 1 who contributed with goals in both that league and the Championship. From earlier times I´d go Michael Svensson. Great shift in the Prem and I was gutted when he had his injury. He made a brief and welcomed return for a few matches in the Championship which only confirmed the love we had for him.

  13. The #WEMARCHON was brought in the year we sold lambert, lallana etc (I believe at least) and it stuck given the ongoing improvement we made despite a couple of summers of selling players. Having gone backwards a bit, it doesn´t really fit so well now.
  14. He was linked with Sunderland in January. Perhaps they will move to loan him next season which I think would do him good for one more year.
  15. Boruc over Bart
  16. My flight from Buenos Aires to Milan is 650 GBP which considering it`s 6000 miles away is not too bad at all
  17. Is Stuart Gray still out of work after being dismissed by Wednesday? HCDAJFU?
  18. Anyone know of a site / link for a radio stream of the match? Cheers
  19. I can`t remember many players we have had over the last ten years that give the ball away less than Cork.. Rarely misplaces a pass. Yes he may not have the vision of a Schneiderlin type midfielder who can consistently play a cutting final ball but what he does have is tenacity, work rate and intelligence in abundance.. would be silly to not get him tied down to a new contract.
  20. Loose rumours we are going to sign Vlad Chiricheș and Holtby from Spurs.. They could certainly do with shifting a few (especially midfielders).
  21. Speaking to the River Plate fans in the office (of which there are many) they inform me he shone last year in the Argentinian Primera Division, but has a reputation of being hot tempered and disrupting the dressing room.. Sounds like an Osvaldo to me..
  22. Punished for success
  23. Here's another version. (Still can't get it out if my head) We are the red and white Southampton; Forget, those fish from down the road; Our kids are better than your first team; It's the way it's always going to be; Bobby stokes in 76; For a decade Matt Le Tiss; The saints will always hunt you down... league one to the premiership; Under leibherr stewardship ; The saints are always marching on... Big fan of this song, it`s been sung everywhere in Buenos and Argentina the past month... would be great to take to St Mary`s and would be original for UK. Whether we could handle it is another matter...it`s sung relatively slowly with a clap every two beats (Doesn`t have the frantic nature of you sign whittingham we sign poch etc.....) Quite like the version above but not so keen on `The saints will always hunt you down...`
