I would love to know what 'package' they offered Lumpett to prize him out of the FA. The trouble about selling your soul is that sooner or later you have to face the consequences
-
No-one - not even the most deluded - likes to be laughed at Excuse me while I dry my eyes...
-
Might it possibly be because Lumpitt knows where a lot of bodies are buried? From the Grauniad April 2010 http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/apr/09/portsmouth-fa-david-lampitt-chief-executive "Portsmouth have appointed David Lampitt, the current head of integrity at the Football Association, as chief executive. There is perhaps deliberate irony in Lampitt's move at a time of continuing police inquiry into events at Fratton Park. The 35-year-old is more familiar with the details of the allegedly illegal transfer activity involving the former Portsmouth manager, Harry Redknapp, and the former club executives Milan Mandaric and Peter Storrie, than anyone else in football.

Sometimes its just that the truth hurts. Hark... could that thunderous flapping noise possibly be the sound of pigeons coming home to roost?

Chinney is hoist by his own petard. I can understand that, as he keeps saying, he never wanted to own any kind of football club (and certainly not the car crash that is pompey), but he will either have to put them into administration (which Comical Andy insists is not on the cards) or throw more of his hard-earned into the money pit

Can you spot the hacked text? "By Rory McKeown Published on Friday 20 January 2012 14:07 Sicilian American businessman Joseph Cala has told The News he has withdrawn his bid to buy Pompey. Only yesterday Cala said he was ‘95 per cent sure’ to take over at Fratton Park. The 50-year-old, who founded an underwater hotel firm, said discussions with former owner Balram Chainrai’s company, Portpin, over future securities were holding up the completion of a takeover deal. But speaking to The News the businessman admitted his bid to buy the south coast club was over. He said: ‘I am very sad. I will have to take a sabbatical. ‘Pompey for me was the name itself. It’s something I have always loved. When I thought of Pompey, I thought oft Pompeii, one of my favourite cities in the world. ‘What really touched me was when I went to the stadium and was watching the fans before the match and they were really behind the club all the way. ‘And when Southampton scored the goal first they never called the players losers. It was really fun.’ CSI administrator Andrew Andronikou said: ‘I am not concerned. ‘I am glad we are out of him. ‘We have got other people and we want have to waste any more time with individuals that want to generate column inches.’"

From the Snooze: "bluelagoon Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 04:05 PM Appy pompeii - Wasn't it - "We regret to inform you that the kicking of footballs at Fratton Park has been suspended due to matters beyond the control of Portsmouth Football Club. The provision of boots and of footballs is outsourced to a separate company, Portsmouth Virgin Islands Boots & Balls R Us Solutions, which has been unable to fulfil its obligations to provide a service. We understand this is because they have run into financial difficulties. This includes debts to Portsmouth Football Club. We are very sorry for the loss of boots and footballs and are currently working on buying some second-hand ones, to give supporters the quality of coverage they deserve."

Translated by Google from Italian website corrieredellosport in Feb last year: http://www.corrieredellosport.it/calcio/lega_pro_serie_d/salernitana/2011/02/22-157282/Salernitana,+che+caos.+L%27americano+Cala+lascia "SALERNO, February 22 - Hip Salerno in football. Antonio Lombardi returns to the helm of the company. In the afternoon it was terminating the contract of sale of the company Italian-American entrepreneur Joseph Cala. Lombardi is back in the saddle by leveraging the "termination clause for non-compliance." The meeting at the notary's office in Vallo della Lucania, to terminate the agreement. After only eleven days and then ends the era Cala, began with announcements and proclamations ambitious. "I'll take this year in Serie B Salernitana - announced in the press conference - in two years, then, we reach the league." The Italian-American businessman had also announced a listing company grenade and then declared himself ready to "40 million investment." Instead, the first encounter was recorded on February 14, when the Salerno in order to avoid further penalties would have to pay salaries to members. ..."I love Salerno and Salerno - Cala said in his farewell - but the fans are entitled to transparency." ...
-
15:41 Rory McKeown: Mr Cala said, if he is successful, that he will sit down with the manager after performances to discuss mistakes and believes a successful club is nurtured through treating players as if they are family ... traditional mafia Family values it is then, as in The Godfather - that should motivate them alright
-
15:38 Rory McKeown: From our conversation, Mr Cala wouldn't go into too much detail about how his personal wealth was generated. But he said his background is in the hotel industry and has experience in making private companies public. His words were his wealth was generated through a 'combination' of things. ... remind you of any recent owners

dunno if this has been posted before - more evidence (if any were needed) that other fans have caught on: Football Finances, come laugh at portsmouth

I *know* this is the pimply takeover saga thread, but I saw this (from the same BBC article referenced above) and couldn't resist it: 'West Ham's East End rivals did not miss the target either as, just as Sammon levelled for Wigan, a light aircraft circled The DW Stadium several times trailing the banner: "Avram Grant: Millwall Legend." '
-
As you were: Avram may not be gracing the back streets of Eastleigh after all - according to the BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/9484432.stm) "... it was the moment that sealed West Ham's fate - and in all likelihood the fate of manager Grant after a first half of optimism and hope was transformed into a second period of abject misery. West Ham's fans aimed a tirade of abuse in Grant's direction as he stood alone on the touchline as their Premier League life drained away, making their feelings abundantly clear about his performance this season."
-
Actually of course, its 'hello again Avram' because his relegated club will be playing Saints next season - whereupon his local familiarity with the flesh pits of Eastleigh is sure to be a great moral booster for them
