  1. Not what I said. The bank have been paid £8m and have written off nearly £20m as part of the deal. As far as they saw it they would rather see something now as part of a takeover than recieve nothing whatsoever. The deal is done and they are happy. Obviously that works well for the club too. Thanks I appreciate what you say. I'm not the sort of bloke that mouths off to all and sundry and takes the ****. I am here for football banter and purely to chat with Saints fans about football. No loss to us mate. He couldn't get a game for us recently anyway and he hasn't been in form for a long time. It's a good move for both Marcus and Sheffield Wednesday.
  2. Written off by the bank as part of the deal.
  3. Ecstatic. I know there are reasons to be wary but without a takeover we would still be £30m in debt, heading towards admin, and minus 10 points. The majority of that debt is now gone due to a write off by the Co-op Bank and we have a very realistic chance of promotion at the first time of asking now. The short and long term future of the club now looks much brighter.
  4. Radio Sheffield and Sky Sports News ticker.
  5. Well your mods can move it then if need be. Apologies. Thank you it is a great feeling.
  6. Did you complain about the Plymouth thread in this section too?
  7. Don't worry I have. I just thought I would let you know of the developments. And obviously I am wary about some things, but the future overall looks a lot better. The debt that has strangled us and held us back for years is gone. We will rise again.
  8. Bank debt gone. HMRC and legal fees to be paid off. No 10 point deduction. Money available for January window. The stadium and training ground are still ours. Bring on promotion!
  9. Who do you think will go up automatic?
  10. I'll put my trust in you then.
  11. It has been done before. Wembley is being used for the CL Final. When we won the League 1 playoffs it was held at the Millenium Stadium.
  12. I think both Wednesday and Southampton have been disappointing so far this season. However, you have a very winnable 3 games coming up. We also on paper have a comfortable December. You are 4 points outside the automatics, we are 2. Looking at the upcoming fixtures for the teams at the top I fancy us both to be in the top 3 by Christmas.
  13. It is strange but he has been very popular there in his time. All the Doncaster fans I know rate him. We've done something similar yesterday with Marcus. He (rightly) hasn't been anywhere near the first team in recent weeks and has gone to Forest on loan. He hasn't been good enough for a long time now and most of our fans are not too bothered.
  14. Compared to Pompey our debt was tiny, and like you say they got their success by spending more than they could realistically afford. We have struggled for a decade paying next to nothing in transfer fees, paying relatively mediocre wages, whilst trying to chip away at the debt, and after years of bad management we very nearly became the next admin club. As well as Pompey, there are a number of clubs with smaller fanbases than ours with much larger debts. I don't see how long term they can have a strategic plan to become solvent? Football is dead and has gone absolutely crackers. Bolton with their £30m+ annual loss, our porcine neighbours across the city 2 days ago announced an £18m loss. I feel for the younger generation of football fans. Football is no longer a contest it's about which chairman has the biggest bank account. I can at least happily say that in my younger years I saw my team win at Wembley in a major cup final. I doubt I will ever see that again in footballs current format.
  15. I agree. The game is an absolute mess and it needs changing. We are very fortunate that the Co-op Bank have agreed to write off huge amounts of our debt.
  16. So you want to change the rules so we should be docked points? Did you read this on your bitter Blunts forum? Spot on and we're now 99% there.
  17. Mandaric isn't sniffing around. He will be our new owner. It was announced last night at the supporters trust AGM by the current CEO Nick Parker. The deal with the bank has been agreed, the creditors all bar one are satisfied, the cash for legal fees and HMRC is in an account, the only thing we are waiting on is Dave Allen agreeing to the terms. The bank will be paid £8m all other bank debt (roughly £15m) is to be written off.
  18. Top 6 come the end of the season. I can't see Brighton lasting up there the whole season.
  19. I was under the impression it was at the Millenium Stadium this year?
  20. You're not the only ones! I would have liked Sheffield FC but we've got a shocker instead. Do you think so? Looking at their away record and with your squad and home advantage you should win comfortably. Normally I would say the same about us, but our cup record in recent years has been appalling. I know nothing about Southport. I'm slightly dreading the trip. I bet we lose.
  21. Very strange decision. Although we've already beaten them twice this season (away in league and home in JPT) they are one of the better sides we've played this season. They deserved to win at Hillsborough on the balance of play. They play football the right way and at least tried to win the game and make a match of it, instead of putting 10 men in their own half like most sides have at Hillsborough this season. Good passing team, their left winger Davies looks a very good player, and he has a great delivery. Watch out for him next week. They'll attack you from the off and constantly put balls in dangerous areas.
  22. There's a long way to go yet anything could happen. It's a funny league and similar in a way to the Championship. Everyone can beat everyone on their day. We beat Brighton who are top and they're the best team I've seen at Hillsborough this season. Yet we lost to both yourselves and Carlisle who on the day didn't look too great. The league is very tight at the moment, we could go 2nd on Saturday (amazing considering how poor we've been recently) and all the way down to 17th if we lose at Yeovil. You can climb and fall a huge amount too. We should get a clearer picture around Christmas time for the battle for the automatics and I expect us both to be up there. You shouldn't be accepting anything yet.
  23. Ok fair play. Sadly there have been a lot of circumstances that I think we would both wish didn't happen. There's still a long way to go yet, and despite not scoring in a few games we're still ahead of you on goals scored
  24. Interesting view on the bookings. I can't agree myself. Which ones were you unhappy with and why? True we didn't create much, but either did you. I was expecting a better standard of football and neither side played well, or with the ball on the deck. You won with a mistake from a backpass. It was a poor game. I'm glad someone agrees with me. I hope the return leg will be a better game of football. No probs with the parking details mate. No cautionary swipe. You played poorly but in fairness you did win. I was merely telling the truth. At what point did I say we played better than you? No offence either but you don't get a proper view of the game on the radio either. Disappointing results for both last night. I think we're both in for a long hard season going from Saturday's display. You're entitled to do that too. To be fair there is a lot of apathy at the club at the moment. Singing the Blues I think was our FA Cup final song in 93. Either that or the League Cup final song for 91. I honestly can't remember which. Anyway, we are far from alone in having a poor support at home. It is a problem throughout football including at your ground. However, our travelling support is bar-none the best in the division. There are a lot of things that can be aimed at our club. Having a poor support is not one of them. I'm not a sore loser. I accept that you won the game. It doesn't mean that you played well. If you had played well and thoroughly deserved to win I would have said so. IMO you didn't. You were poor. So were we. It was a poor game of football won by a defensive error. You say you created numerous chances. Shots on target: SWFC 8 SFC 6 Corners: SWFC 14 SFC 4 I know you won on the important one, but I really think there wasn't much in it. It was a poor game with 2 sides not playing well. I'm not northern, or a monkey, but thanks for your comment anyway. I've explained the points above. I have given an honest opinion too. We'll agree to disagree. I don't think either side deserved to win. It's only a fiver? And why not? I was hoping for some good banter this season. Admittedly I hoped and thought we would both be doing better. We won 5-0 at Hartlepool not 5-1. I hope you're right with your end of season prediction. It was directed at the board. I'm not a fan of Otsemobor either. Luckily he hasn't started many games. Last night was his first league start.
  25. Well done on the victory. I must be honest I expected you to be a lot better though. The reality of it was you were just as bad as us but you came away with the points. Neither side looked threatening, both created little, and it took an absolute bombscare bit of defending to gift you your goal. It was an awful game of football between 2 very poor and out of confidence sides. On that showing neither of us are going to be anywhere near the top 2 places. Maybe this will be the catalyst for your season, but like us you have a lot of improving to do. IMO that game had 0-0 written all over it. It was always going to be a mistake or a penalty that led to any goal. Nobody looked like creating a goal from open play. I'm gutted I don't know where we go from here. We look a very poor side again and very reminiscent of last season. 4 losses on the bounce, we have severe problems. I hope you enjoyed your visit to Sheffield and didn't encounter any bother on the way home. I look forward to the return tie at St Marys.
