Done, also -whilst I'm sure you know far more about all of this than me - check out: Simon Critchley (sp??) What we think about when we think about football... facinating book

observations having watched highlights: WBA defending for our first goal was maybe the worst I have seen from a prem team. Hoedt needs to learn to kick a ball. Forster should stay on the bench
-
Hoedt at fault for both. Rule one, play the man not the ball.

Didn't his goal come when we were 5 or 6 down to Arsenal, away? I also feel like he bleached his beard at some point after leaving saints and has a neck like a giraffe.. which is a horrible thing to say about a fellow human being but I feel that I am entitled to offer this observation as he makes a lot of money and I am somewhat envious.

you all take this so seriously.

In the 77th minute, we had been under the cosh for a solid 10minutes, we've already conceded one and Watford have the wind in their sails. I'm sitting here thinking 'Watford have changed their tactics, Deeney is causing problems, long is isolated and, if we do not change things (in reply to Watford's tactical change) we will conceed again... I wonder what MP is thinking here?? if I do nothing, things just improve themselves?; it's just a phase, Watford wont score?" what the **** is going through his head that he can see Watford emerge as the dominent side, pull one back and then do nothing!?!?!

My automatic response, when I feel despondent and in a heightened state, is to exclusively blame the manager. That one guy who makes the decisions on tactics, squad etc. And it is very very easy to say things in hindsight that seem to be obvious fallacies in the managers approach (narrative fallacy). Whilst I am certainly not staunchly defending MP, there are surely many known and unknown anfractuous variables contributing to the current situation. Anybody at the game last night would surely be hard-pressed to delegate blame to any one individual. It was not a team giving 100% let down by tactics and formation alone (although these were certainly factors), the goals (for example) were sloppy; defenders making basic errors, not tracking runners etc. The truth is, we do not have all the details on the intrinsic running of the club and the interpersonal relationships which inform the qualitative data (ie. Results and league tables). It is simply not information that we are privy to. We can look at what we do know (we haven’t replaced quality like-for-like… then again, one does not simply dip into the transfer market for a Wanyama/Sneiderlin/alderweireld/Lallana, these are special players that are hard to replace), the Manager does seem to be getting tactics wrong in some games, players do seem unmotivated (quite how no one is commenting that our CB clearly doesn’t want to be here and has zero commitment to the club as a factor in all this is beyond me). I guess what I am trying to say is, I am not a fan of MP but the problems are much broader and more complicated than bringing in another bloke. I’m happy to be wrong though.

could have won it with early chances. Arsenal played well enough to get something. Wouldve taken 1-1 at the start. Stephens and/or PEH MOM for me

As a genuine question, has any manager had such a difficult/dissapointing start at a club and come good in time? can think of any.
-
Behaviour economics - regression to the mean - suggests he will not play as well in next game. Give him a run. Be great if he came good. He has shown it in flashes and was very good on Sun.

LOL, we're so fickle.

Too much put on to MP. Not enough quality on the pitch. Redmond and JWP, in particular, are just aweful players.

Observations from today: JS is a class act. Top draw. Love to see him driving forward as well. Ward-Prowse is just not up to it. He comes accross as a really likable lad and obviously works hard but I really don't rate him at all; beaten to absolutely everything today (I know, he got an assist with the corner etc.). Boufal created more in the time he was on than Redmond (although Boufal looks disinterested in defending most of the time) again, flashes of his ability, I really hope he gets a run in the team and comes good. Flanagan (SP?) looked really assured. We need another central midfielder (lad from Juve??) We need a top class centre back next to JS. Cedric outstanding in the first half.
