Mick Channon retires at end of season

A great interview. I'm a big racing fan and always enjoyed following his horses. Racing is in a tricky spot, with a lot falling out of the game (trainers, jockeys and owners), so he'll be a big loss to the game. He'll be on the racecourse until the day he pops it, but the game needs more people like him. His passion is definitely infectious so hopefully jack can carry it on and do it justice. Big task ahead, for him. Mick is looking in far better health than when I last see him at Newbury, which is great to see. -
They really weren't great, hey. A poor penalty, a scuff deflected between keepers legs and one taken round the keeper, which he even tried making hard work of. The fourth was the best but even that wasn't the cleanest. Does look some way off being a first team regular. Walcott took a few well and the few glimpses of Payne, he looks very positive. Biggest shock for me was seeing McCarthy beaten at his near-post.................................................................................................................

Mick Channon retires at end of season

He is famously quoted, during a half-time Lawrie McMenemy rant being aimed his way, as saying "Lawrie, Lawrie, Lawrie... You know this is only a hobby!" Between football and racing, I think there was only one winner for Mick Channon. -
Certainly an improvement, though that wasn’t a big ask on the first 45. Che really is the least instinctive forward in the Prem. Gets put clean through, perfect angle and he lambs it straight at the keeper. 🤦🏻♂️

Staggered he has made just one sub. Three of four could’ve justifiably been hooked and three of our back five on yellows. Treading on thin ice here.
-
Please name them. I’ve never watched a worse half than that.
-
Been played off the park, can’t string a pass together and two of our back four booked well before HT. Can see us going down to ten men and, if we haven’t already, completely falling apart.
-
Fuck off Ralph you utter cunt.
-
You not watching this? Car crash is putting it politely.
-
Story of his season. Shocking captain material, too.
-
How Ralph can watch this for half hour and not change it is beyond me.
-
Palace looks like 15 v 11 but we still manage to tackle ourselves. Armstrong dispossesses Adams and sets up a Palace effort on goal. Quite incredible how bad we are.
-
Good stop Bazunu, who looks like he should have a cap on.
-
Not a chance. Complete simulation.
-
If Diallo isn’t hooked before half time it’s remarkable. Lad is wildly out of his depth.
-
Diallo and Elyounoussi looking thirty yards behind every other man on the pitch.
-
This is some horrorshow of a start here. Organised chaos, again.
-
It's like watching a shit Shane Long.

I said to the mrs how odd he was he kept specifically mentioning November. Only after mentioning it three times, did he then say how he isn't "in the know or anything". Was very odd, especially given his recent stance on Ralf.

I sat in one of these for Chelsea game and have to admit… probably worth it. 😂

Missed a mention for Caleta-Car, who looked quite nice and tidy at the back all afternoon. Doesn’t mess about and you always had the trust that he’d do the right thing. Everything Bednarek wasn’t. -

Just back and dried off… what a turn of events. Pretty dire first half, but excellent turnaround second half. Credit where it’s due, Mo El was absolutely class, not just for the assist and THAT block, but all round classy showing. If he played like half that player every week I’d be over the moon. Lyanco has everything to be a cult hero. Excellent sure footed showing, bar one swipe high in the air. His passion is infectious and he kept a very lively Martinelli somewhat in his shell. Stu Armstrong looked very rusty but took his goal brilliantly. Ward-Prowse and Adam Armstrong our disappointments on the day. Though JWP grew into the game second half. Adam just looks lost on a prem pitch. Credit to Ralph, whatever he said at HT done the trick. -
Gwaaaaaaaaaaaan Che!

He’d bench them.
