He's dreadful. We've spent £130,000,000, yet we're still playing Diallo, Moi and Walcott... Three players who have been dreadful for some time. Is this not a problem? -

Tall Paul looked fucking shite. But he only arrived in the country yesterday, and we were fucking shite, so I wasn't going to start labelling him. -

Lost for words, here. Diallo, Moi and Walcott. Killing us. Our best chance of the game, when we had 15 minutes of momentum before he the twat took Lavia off, falls to Che. Open goal, keeper in no-man's-land... Che heads wide. We deserve everything we get. We've bought a one way ticket to the Football League. -
Anyone got Ralph's number? Asking for a friend.

I'm just catching up on all this. I got a second=hand version from a family member of Che's. I wouldn't expect the chap to get daily updates, by any means, and this was obviously pre-Newcastle 2nd leg. The guy should be back in before long, so hopefully I get a chance to do some of my own digging. Could easily see substance in Garrett's digging. NJ was asked about players coming to him regarding a five, so there were obviously rumours doing the rounds. The only sensible reasoning behind DCC being punted down the pecking order would be a fallout, too. -
Five photos featuring keepers in the Brentford warm-up gallery from Staplewood on the OS... Four of McCarthy and one of Willy.

Only Arsenal and Chelsea have kept Brentford from scoring at home this season, which doesn't bode well for starters. They did concede at home to both Everton and Wolves though, two of only three teams to score fewer than us. One defeat all year, to top of the table... Reality is a draw would be a mighty good result, all considered. Records are there to be broken and all that, I guess. -
Not the first time Yanny B has done that, either. He has history of turning on a shot and watching it waltz into the net. Still, I maintain there were players more culpable in that goal than he, though. Baz covering his near post for a squared ball for one, but again the chance should never have been gifted in the first place. This goal aside, Bazunu's save to shot ratio continues to suffer bullet after bullet. At this rate, we will have to see either McCarthy or Willy chucked in. No option fills me with any confidence, but Baz will be a shell of himself if he continues to concede at this rate.

A bit extreme. It's pretty evident his year is going to be tighter than most. Two wins on the bounce between now and end of season is very likely to leap us at least a couple of places. -
This was an utter madness from NJ, and I still can't believe he done it. I read that team sheet just as I'd got into SJP and had an almighty sinking feeling as we knew immediately the tie was effectively over, if it wasn't already a massive ask. If Lavia couldn't play both Blackpool and Newcastle, he shouldn't have played Blackpool. Simple as. I was furious when he dropped him for the first leg, and it cost us, I was just as furious when he started against Blackpool and I was lost for words when, again, he was dropped at SJP. It really isn't rocket science, is it?

and some...

Hasn't made himself big has he, but the real issue is both Alcaraz and then Lyanco gifting possession away and then not tracking the runner. Lots of real simple stuff in the build up to that. 100% though, Bazunu will have his positioning pointed out in the aftermath, if he didn't know it already. Argument to be had with his view, but even if you can't see, you HAVE to take that step right to centre yourself. Becomes a fairly simple save then.
-
The shot is relatively central to the goal, but because Baz doesn't step back left when the ball was squared, he was left with a gaping whole to his right. It's bad positioning. It's not even an opinion FFS. Don't see how anyone couldn't see that.

I was a keeper for 25 years.

Semmens will be fucking unbearable, again. He has a face you just want to hit.
-
He got a hand to it having not positioned himself correctly. You consistently talk carp about this lad. Why is that? Watch any keeper... When a ball is squared across a box, they'll take a step with it. He didn't, and that's why he didn't get enough on it, to stop it. It's simple stuff Grandad.
-
He was a bit better, but he made a right hash of the opening goal. He covered near post when they came down into corner of our box, but didn't centre himself when it was squared to Longstaff. If he had, that was a relatively simple save as it was tucked into the corner. It probably would've been in for a rebound, but he at least saves the first attempt, seeing as he got a hand to it from bad positioning. He made a decent double save down in front of us in second-half. Can't remember who from, but it was when we were pushing forward and got caught on break. He looked far more composed with balls into the box. He claimed a few crosses into the box that didn't look the easiest to deal with. I'd like to see him command his defence more, but that'll come in time hopefully. He'll be a top keeper, but he has very much been tossed into the fire at a very young age.

This really bothered me. Especially so for how we've effectively given them a fair run and with Lavia over Diallo, very likely would've faired far better. I didn't appreciate it enough from the stands (with a few beers down me), but seeing his montage of his second half... Jesus wept. He is a magnificent baller, already. I do get what NJ is saying regarding him, though. It's no good flogging him to the point he does break down, again. Look at Tino... He was already having a few niggles, but carried on playing for both us and England U21's. Two or three weeks later he done his ACL and is struggling to come back from it. That loss cannot be underestimated, especially to a side like us. I think NJ saw Blackpool as an ideal time to rest JWP, but he wouldn't have wanted to rest both he and Lavia, so went with JWP which meant Lavia wasn't going to start 2nd leg. -
Posting here what I put in the Newcastle 2nd Leg thread re: feedback from one of Che's family members we had in on site... The lads at work had the pleasure of hosting a close family member of Che's whilst I was up in Newcastle for Tuesday night. Interesting comments he's had to say regarding issues the squad had with Ralph. I'm hearing it second hand, obviously, but it was a far from happy camp. Problems with Ralph were widespread. No details specifically, but things went bad and were getting worse. Talk of lads going to board level weren't unfounded. The dislike was passionate between some players (no names mentioned), but assumed Che one of them). Newcastle were in for Che last January before signing Wood. Would've doubled Che's wage, but club held firm and Che didn't kick up fuss. Leeds came in for him this January. Would've nearly doubled his wage. Club held firm and Che didn't kick up fuss. No mention of Everton, despite links in press. Lads really like NJ and are enjoying working under him. Che hasn't wanted a move, despite chance to earn far more, but he emphasised that Che hates leading a line on his own and knows he can't do it. He hasn't been shy about expressing this. Most notable thing I took from it was how Che has twice had interest from bigger teams willing to bear double his wage, yet he has stuck to his task when he easily could've forced a move, especially so with where we've been at. He does my head with his finishing (or lack thereof), but tip me hat to him for that. Expecting him to be back in in the not too distant, so I'll try and have a good chat.

Not a chance! Well over. Be very surprised if we didn’t breach 3,000 looking at it on the night.

Bednarek was not the cause of either goal last night. That’s utter rubbish! You’re looking for fault in him with that call. There were a few who could’ve gone with him for the first goal, most notably Adam Armstrong. Alcaraz has to shoulder the blame for the second, as he completely gave up running with him, then looked surprised when he was slotted in and scored.
