"But I don’t mean it disrespectfully to anyone – we are playing Bury"

All the best people were born in this year.

"@alex_crook: Just waiting for confirmation Barker has gone but looks likely #pompey will name their 3rd manager of the season" Shame. The new manger effect will probably be enough to see them safe. Although, it never really materialised with their previous two managers!
-
Those 100+ applications must've been good, if they've had to go an approach another club for a manager.
-
What were Pompey's debts? £100 million? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24429186

I've been trying to come up with something that fits into "Mama told me (not to come)" all morning, but having little success.

Peaking in bushes, eh? I hear you can get arrested for that sort of behaviour!

Why not make the sqaud less competitive, and achieve a profit more quickly?

What's this? Man Utd and Man City bring in 330m to the local area every year combined? That's what the mighty few claim to bring in on their own, isn't it? Maybe they really are the bestest... http://www.dailystar.co.uk/posts/view/308652/Manchester-football-giants-net-city-330m-boost-every-year/

So does this "biggest community club in Britain" nonsense just come from their league position? From here: http://www.communitypompey.co.uk/faqs/#faq30

"Confident" is his favourite word, it seems. It's appeared in almost all of his answers so far. "The lady doth protest too much, methinks"

How much did the council think a home match was worth to the local Pompey community again? I need a good laugh.

Makes a change from ripping up contracts. I don't know what's more unbelievable; this attitude, or the public flaunting of it.
-
Surely, at yesterday's FL meeting, the question "can you guarantee that PFC will be able to fulfill its fixtures this season" was put to TB, and seeing what he's said in the press, the answer must have been "no"?
-
I bet Portsmouth Council are getting a bit edgy now. Or are their conditions for the loan so strict that they're not likely to part with their money in any event?
-
"@SkySportsNews: Away from the Olympics we've got an exclusive from Tal Ben Haim on his contract situation at Portsmouth." Anyone manage to see what he said? That was tweeted at about half 5.
-
Wasn't the decision to reduce the number if subs in the Championship from seven to five done with the likes if Pompey in mind; to make it a fairer competition so the financially less prudent clubs wouldn't be at a disadvantage? Can we assume that it will now be down to three next season, seeing as the FL seem to like helping them out?

The MP/tax issue is being discussed on Talk sport this evening. Unsurprisingly, it's not being met with much support! Slated by Durham. First time I've agreed with him, I think...

I always hear this tune in my head when I read that things have taken a turn for the worse for the Skates:
-
Have they got any youngsters to send out on loan to drop their squad below 20 this time?
-
Just read this on Twitter: jamie jackson @GuardianJamieJ Close been a while but here's #pfc story: Portsmouth players might not be paid in new year, I've been told. full story on @guardian_sport soon Nothing we didn't already know, but hopefully worth reading about.

It speaks volumes that there is only funding "for the short term". If PFC was trading solvently, and not reliant on their parent company, surely they could continue trading regardlessly? True, they would need investment to improve, but that is not what Lampitt is saying; they need funding to survive. And I guess it depends on what your definition of "short term" is.
