Are people still waiting for Pompey ticket email?
pingwing replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Saints
Spoke to the hot woman working in the ticket office after the game to try and see if mine were ready, they wernt. The ticket office will be open sunday at the stadium but it looks like im driving down as there is no way I will bother was a train at 7.30am down to pick them up. Such a mess eitherway, don't see what the ticket office was doing for the previous 10 days before the Brighton away ticekts went up to not sort this out! And why a confermed order (sucessful through both ballots) doesnt equal ok print a bus ticket for each person off... Who ever is organising the bus place thing seems like they cant organise their way out a brown paper bag... Probably overly grumpy and frustrated but this probably will be one of the few chances to go to Fratton before, a it falls down, b they go down or c we go up and dont play in the same league as them. -
In: Striker Leigh Griffiths for a FM signing... Winger urm no idea it'll be a supprise but weirdly we look a team without a natural right winger which I cant guess any other team has this problem with. CB meh not a priority now Jos is strapped in the bus Keeper will be needed as it'd be silly to have kelvin as a long term prem keeper Out: Holmes, Dickson, Forecast and of course Forte. A list of players that have no shot at the bench unless we have some serious injury problems... (probably why holmes has had a bash)

From having quite a few good cup runs in the last few seasons I could not believe what I saw today, he fumbeled some simple moments and looked a fool. He made some good catches which my self and the guy infront of me applauded and gave some cheering too but I can't see him getting more first team with that head on him, which is a shame as he has looked good before. Good on Jos giving him the sensible, nice guy pat after the mistake, a real positive that a few of the players remember everyone has a bad moment and need something to remind them that everyone has a moment. Oh and the Blackpool fans didn't help much but thats the perogative of being an away fan

Haven't got an email yet either but online does show 3 tickets sorted! (1 extra from second ballot) I hope I get this email by saturday otherwise I'm not going to actually get to pick up the tickets @_@ -
We're top of the league Sam Vokes kept us top of the league! Or something similar
-
Formation must be 4-5-1 but Adam and Steve more attacking wingers than left/right mids (more 4-3-2-1) with Guly up the middle
-
@_@ to be honest i wasn't meant to be 1st, it was just there because palace vs millwall was terrible

So what is our best performance of the season?
pingwing replied to sandwichsaint's topic in The Saints
Ipswich away, that 4th goal with Morg lobing it over the defence as a pass to the space Lallana was running into goes down as one of the best things iv ever seen! A real life fifa moment... -
His first game was away at Swindon (that horrible 1-0) as an 80th min sub, he was amazing for those 10 mins, the only man trying to go forward or do anything at all and has been one of my favourite Saints players since. On the tracking back front I think he just goes largely unnoticed, days like Dagenham and Redbridge away last season he was up and down the pitch all day long to be subbed to keep his fitness. The single problem he was is at most away games he's closed down very quickly making it harder for him to have the impact some fans expect from him. Still a top player who has a very good strike with him! Anyone see his goal against saints classic XI?

Oh Fonte wants him to stay http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2501747,00.html "I keep telling him that the Championship is better than the Scottish league. I hope he listens!"
-
Wouldn't be surprised if we negotiated a loan to buy clause anyway for this sort of situation. Hope we keep him though, he seems to really fit in well with everyone and has really gotten up to speed with the team nice and quickly.

Davis was class tonight. The team performance was very poor as are Reading. Reading had very little in attack, when at home thats pretty embarrassing, just a lot of shooting at Kelvin and nothing else... De Ridder shows why we payed what ever we payed for him and them some, loved seeing him DELIGHTED to get the equaliser, already a proper saint after 1 league start and 3-4 sub appearances. Give him a bit longer and he'll know what to do Glad Fonte was subbed at half time as he was struggling, Deano should have come off when he got the first yellow as he'd done the same tackle twice before... Finally Chappers Man of the Match, was everywhere, tried so hard and generally got his way, really impressed me just for his commitment to the cause. A point hard won but could have been so different either way so a point each probably was a fair result
-
I was so pleased to see him score the equaliser today, he showed so much passion in his celebration today to show he his clearly on the front seat of the bus with the biggest smile just to be there. He has shown to be a lot of talent, pace and flair for the team and I can't wait to see him do more. DC knows his place is under pressure which is upping his game too making the team even better Love having Steve on the team either way, one of the signings of the season other than Cork

Derby are deadfall! Can not believe they are 3rd without paying off every ref in the league. The ref was even worse, EVERY decision was wrong, booking made no sense, he didn't give away free kicks when half our team were being hauled to the ground and gave them free kicks for almost nothing. Hope he's fired. We look ok without lallana, struggled with a lack of any wide players for the first half. Struggled with Richardson being very very poor defensively (if he knew what he was doing Font wouldn't have had to go steaming in for their goal and the system would have worked). Chaplow was woeful, the moment we got De Ridder on we had pace and could break up their terrible play. Lambert is class and I hope we hang on to him for the rest of his career. Man of the match is between Jos and Fox who between them seem to have finally got an understanding at the left side of the back line, who goes forward, when and how to cover. Ben Davis on the right had nothing to do with the game as he was shut down by them both so well.

He played against us at least one of the times we played Swindon in L1. Mate said he's just strength in the box... Was a terrible terrible player
-
Buy Curtis Davis right now! Would be awesome to see him and fonte...

I had Singha against Watford, tastes better from a plastic bottle than Carling (then again that does taste like death warmed up) £4 felt far but for one beer at half time (something needed to calm the nerves) it seemed a better option over all

Is David Connolly, 34, better than Kevin Phillips, 38?
pingwing replied to Giordano's topic in The Saints
He was an international for the Republic of Ireland not Eire! Eire is the Irish for the whole Island and as stupid as it is the stupid place has two teams, neither called Eire. On the Connolly front I'm amazed he's pulled it all together, I had him written off as someone who got a contract on past achievements, but he's impressed -

Oh I remember the other one I meant to point out, under the Leon Best entry you have ended with the sentence "He has represented Eire at senior level" but Irish is not used to describe Irish football for neither the North (obviously) or the Southern team (never sure why but the word Eire is just not used in that context as it tends to represent the idea of an all Ireland state opposed to the separation of states). So really it should say "He represented the Republic of Ireland at senior level" (especially as he's not Irish born too) Interesting read though -

Yep, one of the key bits to all of the gaa sports is that its strictly amateur. Means its even more rubbish to watch than the rules making limited sense and all the players being very aggressive drunks... -
Oh it was just a pen and a yellow then. Still winced a little
-
Didn't Gobern get sent off in one of the first 2 games of the season with another pretty poor tackle?
-
Should have won that, simple as. Let down by a Fonte F*** up followed by Seaborn back to his usual (appalling) self and some ref decisions that boarder lined on flat out cheating. It should have been 4-3, a number of offsides were given against us that made minimal sense and too many fouls went completely unnoticed. Worse still Seaborn was destroyed by Leicester's front line. Schmeichle was man of the match for keeping their TERRIBLE defending to just 2 conceded. At very least we've shown with a few little tweaks we can compete (at worst) or even destroy (At best) any team in the league right now, and Adkins has the common sense to make most the right moves when he can (couldn't have subbed Harding before half time or Do Prado). We'll learn from this and come back even stronger (and hopefully selling Seaborn for some peanuts)
