  1. He needs to do his homework a bit more.We turned a "final improved" £4.5m offer down last week from West Ham and Alladyce has said he will not be pursuing Rhodes anymore.Rhodes is going nowhere this window but even if we can eventually get promoted this season I think he will be off.Southampton would be a good move for him and certainly better than West Ham and the hoofball that they now play.He will make it at a higher level but most Town fans think it would be a disaster going to a Prem club to warm a bench.Rhodes has been very carefully nurtured for 2 seasons(only playing 90 mins on 9 occasions last season!!!) and is now showing what he can do.He will never beat 4 men and crash a ball into the net but his instinct for goals, his movement and his quality with both feet and his head mark him out as someone who will score at a higher level.I reckon you might get him in a swap deal for Llana and Guly;) Finally, our Chairman is a fan and at a recent Q&A session said his worst moment following Town was when we were top of Div 1 (now Championship) and Sold our best player Marcus Stewart to Ipswich who were 6th.We missed out and Ipswich went up.As a Chairman his worst decision was refusing to pay,on principal another £200k for Ricky Lambert.Good Luck for the 2nd half of the season.
  2. Just trawled a few sites in the prem and Championship and it appears that at least 50% of all those clubs have mentioned Rhodes as a transfer target including Manure,Everton,Newcastle and Sunderland.Palace for some reason have a 44 page thread on him.Rhodes is a top top prospect and he was absolutely outstanding on Saurday at Wendies who to be fair to them said it was one of if not the best striking performance they had ever seen at Hillsborough.Check out the clip below. Our Chairman says we don't need to sell and his money is better invested in Rhodes than the bank.Having said that every player supposedly has his price but I think it would have to be North of £5m.I know this sounds a lot but Delph went to Villa from L666s for £7m.Interestingly,I went to my first Premiership game for a couple of years last night Wolves v Norwich.Morison surprised me by how good he was but Ebanks Blake was absolutely pants and Rhodes is 10 times the player he is (and about 4 stone lighter).Rhodes would fit in superbly at Southampton rather than a host of other clubs that I can think of.Another plus with Rhodes is that he is a quiet, lovely lad who doesn't have a bad word to say about anything and says all he is interested is being a better person and a better player. As for Alex Smithies.Probably the best young keeper I have seen other than Joe Hart but he has been injured for almost a whole year although he is near to returning to training.I doubt we would let him go.By the way Lucas Jutkiewicz was on loan at Town 2 seasons ago and was truely awful one of the worst loanees ever at the club.Good luck for the rest of the season. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16238289.stm

  4. Oscar had a good game Tuesday. It's clear to many Town fans that this lad has talent but it's only going to come out with regular football which is something that Saints cannot offer him.His appearance as sub against Cardiff changed the whole complection of the game and he looked a special player.Only time will tell but at this point in the season the majority of Town fans think he could be a very good signing.Terrific start for you lot hope you keep it up.Finally,on a different subject. Our Chairman holds regular Q&A sessions with the fans at a local boozer. In the session last week he was asked what he thought his biggest mistake was had been in the 3 years he has been here, the answer--"not paying Bristol Rovers another £250k for Rickie Lambert"
  5. Correct. He isn't the speediest winger but he makes up for that by being able to get past people with his trickery and skill.Looks like we may be signing Danny Ward from Bolton today for around £500k so 2+2 !!!!!!.He can definitely supply the ammo for the likes of Lambert and chips in with goals as well.Don't want him to leave,he has been one of our best signings in the last 10 years.
  6. Sorry. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Southampton-to-sign-Huddersfield-winger-Gary-Roberts-in-500k-deal-after-he-refused-a-contract-extension-article763775.html
  7. Wondered if you had seen this.I suspect that this is a strong rumour.Clark has offered Roberts a new longer contract but on reduced terms to bring the club in line for new regs coming in '12/'13 season. We would be gutted to lose him.Quality player and £500k seems a steal.
  8. Sorry, didn't realise "history" meant the last 50 years.Silly me.For the record; South Coast Club; FA Cup Winners 1976 Paint pot 2010 Tennants Caledonian Cup 1976 ??? Trofeo Ciudad de Vigo 1983 (WTF!) Little Old Huddersfield Town; Champions of England 1923,1924,1925. FA Cup Winners 1922.
  9. "Teams raise their game against us" "Teams have fewer resources than us" "It,s tough because every team treats playing us as a huge game" "We signed the League 1 allstars" "Teams play out of their skin against us" "Look at our stadium and pitch" "No team wants to play at Brighton its horrible so they always win" Just listen to yourself,no wonder every other fan in the third division calls you lot the new L666s Utd.And by the way you do not have a history of success whilst we do.Unbelievable tosh.
  10. Spot on Micky. That was the thrust of my post. There isn't a football fan in the world who wouldn't be pleased if one of their rivals star players couldn't play for whatever reason but to gloat and make light of a serious injury to a player is just not right.
  11. I suspect if challenged about your truely sick comment above you would say it was a joke but serious injuries such as this are certainly no joke and you should be ashamed. To see the injury last night, hear the screams of Pilks and see both sets of players in tears was a sad,sad scene. The Rochdale fans and players were a real credit to their club urging the medical staff quickly on to the pitch.I would like to thank all the right minded fans on this board for their kind comments and good wishes for Pilks speedy recovery. He will be sorely missed as we think he is a special talent.
  12. Puncheon is a class act.Huddersfield were interested in him before he signed for Saints and the fans wanted him at Town.He was poor last Saturday and didn't run at our young acadamy full back once but came inside and couldn't get rid quick enough. It seemed clear to me Saturday that the lad has a big confidence issue at the moment just as Anthony Pilkington did at the start of the season and he is now playing his best football. Both these players could play in a higher league imo.Get behind the lad and he will come good when the confidence comes back.Hope he doesn't play against us at Christmas as he is a match winner.
