My mate is a scout for Watford. He said that they usually watch a few dvds on a player that they either get sent speculatively by agents or ones they compile themselves when they have specific targets in mind, and then he'll get sent out to watch them in the flesh for a game during the week. I would imagine that our set up is similar although with far more able staff than my mate. Long is actually a decent PL forward, who has so far scored more goals in this league then Pelle, it would be stupid not to have a plan B.
