  1. I like that. What has been going round in my head is to the tune of Abba's Voulez Vous... Romeu, Romeu, ah ha, There is no-one he won't do, (or similar) Romeu, Romeu, ah ha Bones of an idea but I'll stick to the day job!!
  2. Reed and Krueger are satisfied with their entries for the Murray Walker and Ian Dowie lookalike competition while Roy dreams of World Cup Glory.
  3. Good luck Rickie, and thanks for the memories. You deserve the fairytale ending to your career, and along with my two sons who are in their teens, I see you as the best Saints player in their lifetime. For me, you are at legend status with MLT, Channon, Paine, Davies and Bobby. We are gutted that you've gone, but can see why, and wish you nothing but success.
  4. I can't wait for the Esso Coin collection to come out. I'll have to stop filling up at Morrisons. Top day to be a Saints fan. I'm chuffed especially for Sir Rickie Lambert.
  5. Even my football hating Mrs is laughing at them. She just bounded up the stairs to my office to tell me that they've sacked Barker, with a huge grin on her face!! Married 25 years and she still knows how to please!!
  6. Done, I shudder to think what fate could have awaited Saints if SISU had taken over. Good luck with your campaign, I am sure you will succeed, but it may take a while.
  7. Our tickets arrived this morning, and I can't wait!! At the start of the season, I said to my brother and my 2 Saints mad teenage sons that we needed to equal or better every result season on season to make progress. So anything better than a 6-1 hammering is good!! That isn't going to happen, and I am quietly optimistic. The last time I saw Saints away at Arsenal was when Paul Davis floored Glenn Cockerill and broke his jaw!!
  8. I was on holiday in Bournemouth last week with my family and my 2 nephews aged 11 and 13. We all went to the game last night and sat high in the Kingsland Corner. It is the 3rd game I have taken my Chelsea and Liverpool supporting nephews to this year. They are now converted. They loved the atmosphere, they loved the performance, and by the end were joining in all the songs and referring to Saints as "we" and asking when they can go again! The 11 year old even asked for an early birthday present of a home shirt with his name on, I was very happy to oblige!! It was one of the most dominant displays by a Saints team at the highest level that I have seen in many a year. The whole team played their part, but for me, Lallana was sensational. My eldest son who is 16 and potty about Saints is away in Jordan on a school trip, and wasn't allowed to take his phone. He gets home tonight, and I cannot wait to see his face when sees the highlights of our last 2 games. HAPPY DAYS!!
  9. Rest in peace Ron. I am slightly too young to have seen you play at The Dell, but I remember you from Match of the Day as a kid and remember you as a giant of a man. We've all lost a legend from the great family that is Southampton FC. I hope that you are at peace with your wife Chris, and that Ted has picked you to play alongside Ossie and Bobby on saturday. Though I never met you, the tears are rolling down my face. One of the saddest days ever to be a Saint.
  10. What a terribly sad day. I too, will never forget the ZDS final, it was one of the best days out watching Saints ever, and one of his goals that day at the Saints end was the most towering header I've seen in many a year. A true Saint, taken from us at too young an age. I do hope that we have a minutes silence for him at the last home game rather than remember him on "All Saints Day" later in the year. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. Rest in Peace Kevin, thanks for the memories.
  11. I so wish I had bookmarked the prophesy I made to that tool Corp HO about 5 or 6 years ago, that we would be back and pass them going the other way. Oh how the fool heaped abuse on my prophesy. Oh how I lmfao now. WTFILN eh Corps? The only tears I shed are for the people robbed blind by them, who as the end of this takeover saga approaches, are left with pennies if they are lucky.
  12. Schneiderlin and Shaw
  13. As a Saints fan for 40 plus years,I am disgusted at the decision to sack Nigel Adkins today. He deserved better than this, and so did the fans. I was at Villa Park on saturday and to a man, all 3000 Saints fans sang his name at numerous points throughout the game. This decision has brought our club into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, and I am ashamed to support my hometown club today. The decision may well prove to be inspired in the long run, but the way Adkins has been treated will always reflect badly on Saints. I would rather have stayed loyal to Mr Adkins and seen us relegated (and I didn't think we would under Adkins), than see an honest, hard working, talented man treated in this way, and my club pilloried in the way that the media are rightly doing. The lack of respect for Adkins and the vast majority of Southampton fans is saddening. This is a dark day for the football club that I love. This decision was not taken this decision in my name. I know that some will not agree with my comment about relegation, but plain and simple, the guy deserved better.
  14. Saints lose 1-0 at Walsall and 8 pages on the official thread, plus a number of other threads. Dean Richards passes away tragically at a very young age, 5 pages on the official thread. Hmmm.
  15. RIP Deano. You weren't with us long, but you will always be a true Saint. Sleep well big man, say hello to Bobby and Ossie.
  16. Bert Trautmann, in goal for Man City 1956 Cup Final?
  17. Daren, please accept my condolences. I have lost a young brother and a young sister in law in recent years, so I understand what you're going through. Whilst the pain of loss is hard to forget, time does allow the fond memories to take a place in your heart and mind. Take care, and RIP Valerie. East Leake Saint.
  18. The trouble with decisions like this is that we never know the detail of what lies behind them, and there were obviously differences given the club statement. If so, fair play to Pardew for not being a yes man, though ultimately it has cost him his job. Personally, I am gutted. Pards gave us our first trophy for 34 years, gave us an exciting and attacking brand of football, and behaved with immense dignity through out his time with us. Good luck to him, and good luck to NC in appointing his successor. The pressure is on NC now because a "trophy " manager is not what we need to get us out of this division. IMHO of course.
  19. RIP Markus, and thank you or giving us Saints fans the hope, and the chance to dream again. Say hello to Bobby, Ted, Ossie and all the other greats. It saddens me that you have passed and will not be able to see all our dreams fulfilled.
  20. I have no sympathy for them, and fully expect that this has got a long way to run yet. Come on HMRC, close em down. I remember having a slanging match with Corp a couple of years ago on here when he hurled all manner of abuse at me for daring to suggest that Pompey had 2 years before they imploded. Needless to say I feel very smug today. I've got a very nice bottle of Champagne in the fridge and I shall raise a glass of thanks tonight to Messrs Redknapp, Storrie, Gaydamak, Al Fahim and Al Faraj for the sweetest of days. Thanks chaps, you couldn't have made a better f*ck up if you'd tried!!
  21. Went to the game last night. Don't get to many these days so went full of anticipation, and as soon as I saw the ploughd field of a pitch thought it would be a dire game . Bad game, sh*t pitch, naive tactics from Saints not to play wide where the only grass on the pitch was. Kelvin brilliant and comical, but without him we'd have lost. Could have won at the end but the draw was a fairer result. The best bit of the game was the quick get away so back home near Nottingham by half eleven.
  22. We all know how long it took to do the deal to sell us out of Administration. Any new investor willing to sink the tens of millions into Pompey to get them through the next court hearing, would be bypassing all the due diligence required to conclude such a deal. So, they either need their medication increasing, or they are so filthy rich that the £11m to HMRC is loose change to them. Can only see one outcome myself. You can't undo the largesse of many years of living way above your means in 7 days or 9 days. They have had it!!
  23. Surely there has to a few choruses of "Your grounds too big for you" or "Stand up, if you've paid your tax" or "Shall we pay your tax for you" whilst waving Tenners in the air or "Sell your ground to Tesco, you're gonna sell your ground to Tesco"
  24. RIP Sir Bobby. The best England manager in my lifetime and more than that you seemed to be a wonderful person. A true gent and one off who will be missed by so many. Deepest sympathy to your friends and family.
  25. So many great team and indivdual acheivements already listed. I would add Tony McCoy riding 3000 winners.
