Given his age and how comfortable he is against top team (remembering his assured performance against City in our opening game 2 years back), as long as he continues to develop it is inevitable he'll get a call up. IMO if (and it is a big if) he continues to develop, he could be a pivotal England player (and possibly captain). I think this season is a season defining one for him.

Rather have Bony but I very much doubt he'd be interested (apparently his head is in Liverpool) and he'd cost too much.

Seriously, what has happened in football? Not long ago there were many players with loyalty (and if not loyalty, integrity) with a good handful of c***s. Now it seems that the staple is that the vast majority of players are complete c***s with a very small minority with integrity. Money has ruined the game. Good riddance to the ***!

Agreed they are rumours but RK has pretty much said we are looking to bring players in. If Kat just wanted her money back she'd have sold the club. No one truely knows her intention other than what has been said but is all points towards making the club self sufficient and not someone just asset stripping to get their cash.

The only thing really embarrassing is some of the bed - wetting posts on here. Some people really need to face reality as to where we sit in the grand scheme of the footballing world. We are the victims of our own success and this was always going to happen if we didn't make it into Europe. In reality we received 30m for a 19 year old who wasn't the best LB in the league, 25m for a player who has really only had one very good season in the top flight, 4m for a player who although played very well in parts in reality was at times starting to show his age and only really has one (maybe 2 if lucky) good year in him, about to receive 20m for a player we signed just 12 months previously for 8m. Each of these players signing for arguably the biggest 2 clubs in the league for a lot higher wages. To me that is bloody good business as long as we replace well and I think we've made a good start with Tadic and Pelle.

Personally I think we would eventually come to pretty much the same place but it would have happened in a different order. Bigger clubs were already circling and I think that we still would have sold at the right prices which I think would have prompted MoPo to assess his options. We can't keep players if clubs like Liverpool and ManUre come in form them, regardless of who is at the helm (unless we an owner willing to blow 100+m every year and willing to pay massive wages).

Would playing for Ronald Koeman not be as big a draw for any up and coming defender, to learn off a former Barcelona and Dutch international and captain centre-back? I personally don't buy the Rio factor.
