Romeu is now an improvement on Wanyama
sammysaint replied to Saint Without a Halo's topic in The Saints
Remember Wanyama was awful the first season, Romeu just needed time he will be a good replacement he is a better player technically then Vic but he does not boss the midfield with heading and tackling like Wanyama did. -
Willow will help if you keep getting stuck with the add on but the repo must be the official one from his site.

Great point away from home and we wanted the win more agaist the champions of England. Puel has won me over he changed his system to a 433 and then does the diamond now towards the end which I am fine with the recent results show a top 8 finish can be achieved again and I really hope we can get into the knock out stages of EL and the SF or Final of the league cup. Sadly this international break has come at a bad time for us, Beat Burnley and Sunderland and I will be calling for Puel to be given the key to the city

To be fair that's what we paid for each player in the squad over 4-5 years, Fonte is the only player still from the promoted team. Forster,Bertrand,VVD, Tadic ,Boufal, Redmond, Højbjerg and Shane Long all cost 10 mill or more, then you have Jay Rod and Clasie who cost around 7-8 mill, thats over 120 million right there between them players.
-
He is better out wide on a 433 which Puel has started to play before going back to the diamond during the last 15-20 mins by bringing on JWP and players like that for Tadic. When Jay Rod is fit and Boufal they will come off the bench for a few games but after that IMO they will need to both start along with Tadic, so will be interesting how he fits all of them into the team and who will start, but Jay Rod has always been the best finisher out of Him Redmond Austin and Long.
-
Puel has now adapted his formation to allow a 433 when attacking and a diamond when defending and at certain points in the game, very good tactical ability by him, Also he has Redmond playing as a winger in patches which also helps. We wont finish high as we did under Koeman but we certainly can finish 8th and have a cup Semi Final or Final especially in the league cup, Especially if we beat Sunderland and get the Winner of one of the all championship games at home.

Romeu is class at that DM position, yeah he makes the odd mistake but he is protecting the back four really well. VVD is just pure class, Sadly I see him going for 40-45 mill next summer to Man City or something. Redmond proved again today he is better out wide and his best movements and creative play was coming in from the wing IMO, that was my only downside to today along with Cedric who at times was poor. Martina in for Cedric and Jay Rod or Boufal in for Redmond and the starting 11 after the international break would be great for me.

Sorry it should say We can do with LCFC Hull and Boro losing today and a few around us drawing.
-
We can do with LCFC Hull and Boro losing a few around us drawing, that would then give us a great chance to move high up into the top half and keep us close to the top 8 as possible.
-
Lets be honest Puels had us playing well in patches his issue is the obsession of making Redmond a striker and IMO it will cost us finishing 8th or 9th if he carries it on, the aim has to be 8th or 9th and a good cup run as I think Man City Spurs Man U Arsenal Chelsea Liverpool and LCFC will finish top 7, EFC will fade off and finish 8th with us possibly finishing 9th.

Jay Rod should be fit for Wes so I think this game is ideal for him to regain the fitness he has lost the last few days and just as he was starting to look sharp again with his movement off the ball. McCarthy Targett Yosh Stephens Martina. Reed JWP Isgrove Sims Jay Rod Long Sims and Jay Rod can rotate every 20/25 from LW to upfront as I have noticed Puel rotate Tadic Jay Rod Long and Redmond at times during the games especially agaist Sunderland and the Europa league.

I play Sunday league as a striker and it deffo helps scoring and having encouragement from your team mates, however every few weeks some teams you play will be so rubbish I can score a few goals and look good, so I am never out of form for long. I have had friends play pro and semi pro for teams like Winchester Eastleigh and Basingstoke, they get dropped if they lose form and normally have had to work harder and get dropped to reserves to get a few goals and confidence, not sure how that would help someone like Long, I think playing him Wednesday would be good with Jay Rod up top, Palace will rotate some players as well.
-
Sad news if he is out for the game tomorrow, seems like he maybe the new Pahars . Hopefully it is not linked to his knee injury and he can play 65/70 mins on Wednesday as he seems like he is finding his fitness and touch again.
-
I think we have played really well with Long and Jay Rod upfront, however Austin has deserves to keep his place. I would replace Yoshida and Targett for Bertrand and Fonte as they should start without saying, however the others I am stuck. Forster Bertrand Fonte VVD Martina Romeu Hojberg Redmond Tadic Austin/Long Jay Rod. Subs McCarthy, Cedric, Yosh, S.Davis, JWP, Clasie, Long/Austin.
-
I agree I think rotate Jay Rod Long and Austin then have Redmond Tadic and Boufal on rotation on the wings, that attack IMO would be good enough to help us finish 8th and have a good cup run.
-
He has to stop playing Redmond as a striker, Jay Rod and Long would be a partnership I would like to see him try as IMO them two looked the deadliest in the 15-20 they played against Sunderland with link up play. The next two will make or break him, if we fail to beat Sparta and Swansea and I think he has to go before it gets too bad.
-
He came on and looked good, his volly shot was good and it was good to see him have a snap shot that caused a keeper error. He needs to stay as simple as that and his interview after shows his frustrations of not playing, he should be rotated with Austin as the man leading the way with Long or Redmond, but ideally you want Jay Rod Long upfront with Redmond and Tadic outwide.
-
Top 6 will not be achieved again unless we do keep the best players at the club and if one of the big boys has a off season. I think top 8 should be the aim and 8th is still achievable and IMO would be a good season but anything below 9th is a bad season and Puel needs to change his system or personal, I actually think Jay Rod would work well in his formation but Austin not so much, Jay Rod and Long upfront vs Arsenal.
-
Goalkeeper mistake yes but Jay Rod did well when he came on, he needs to stay and Redmond upfront is not working or in the number 10 role, put him out wide.
-
I think we should start him vs Sunderland and see what he can do or at least give him 20 mins, as others have said EL would be a good option for him to regain fitness and or league cup game/s, with super sub appearances. But if we do loan him out IMO the loan should be until Jan or end of the season with a recall option in Jan.
-
Until he gets his form back or until we get another striker in ( should Puel really not fancy him), we should be using him to replace one of Redmon Long or Austin with 15-20 to go, I think Jay Rod will recover some of his old form and be good enough to start again and score goals and I would be gutted if he left, if in Jan he still does not look like he will be 90% of the player he was then maybe sell or loan him.

Man Utd v Saints Post Match Hmmmmm.....

Watford and Sunderland will finish between 18th-14th and if we fail to beat them at home I think we get dragged into it, I do not think we will go down but I think we will end up on 42-45 points, but if we end up with 2 points from 2 winnable home games that you need to get at least 4 points from its a bit of a joke and clear the managers system or himself is not good enough to help us stay close to what we have achieved the last 3 seasons. -

We need to change the system, Redmond is not a striker and his obsession with trying to do this will cost us a top 8 finish, Redmond is a good player who can become great if used out on the wings and let him cut in. Jay Rod and Austin need more time to play upfront as they are more natural goal scorers before people write them off, we need stronger and more depth with europa league as this using the academy ******** is just another cheap way to help make more money for the greedy board, I think we are all realistic and know last season was a one off, but asking to finish 7th or 8th I feel is acceptable. If we lose or draw to Sunderland I think we will be in a relegation scrap. -
Puel is to blame, he is clueless to think playing two small strikers works in the premier league.
