  1. All depends if AP is going to teach some of these younger players sharp, harsh lessons as he has indicated he would, if he thought his 20 mins was totally unacceptable.......didnt he say some of them think they are better than they are after all ?
  2. anyone know where Mills was yesterday ? Is he injured or has AP dropped him after his awful cameo against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday where he failed to help Harding defensively and generally looked totally uninterested ?
  3. Yes, fair play to him, I have to say I was worried that the insistance on playing him was upsetting the structure of the team but the manager and coaching staff have found him a role, worked with him, and its begun to play dividends. Thought he was very very good yesterday.
  4. Somehow I dont think its been painted as a tribute to him......more as a "danger - this could be you !" warning if a hobby becomes an obsession. But thats art........lets hang up a picture of a ***** who urinated on the seats at St Marys and is regularly removed from grounds for drinking or bell related offences Do Portsmiff fans actually like this guy or are they embarassed by him ? I'm bloody glad we haven't got any supporters who dress up like that.
  5. I thought he did well. Took a while to adapt to the pace, cos this aint like Italian football in any way, shape or form, and tired from about 75mins, hence coming off, but to me he got better as the first half wore on and looked quite useful second half. Lets face it if he was the next Ronaldo he wouldn't be here would he !!
  6. which ironically brings me back to my original point that we are losing either a forward or a wide player to play Lallana. why not just play Lallana as a central midfield box to box player and see how he does there.....or does AP know his lack of discipline will leave bloody great holes through the middle ?
  7. cos he isnt getting the service from out wide and he isnt playing as an out and out striker. Just watch on Tuesday night how deep he has to come to get a sight of the ball, its noticeable and has been in every home game so far. When he was playing up front with Patterson the young boy was further up the field than Lambert was every time we went forward. Why ? Patterson is not our £1 million goalscoring machine, Rickie is, yet we are not deploying him as an out and out striker.
  8. Oh sorry, I thought the idea was to have a debate about formations, players, the manager etc. I am not saying he is rubbish or slagging him off, I am just asking what his best position is and wether AP is so desperate to play him that we are either sacrifycing a second striker or a natural wide player to get the ball in the box, in line with the heading of this thread about our goalscoring problem. The difference is, since you want to bring MLT into the equation is that Matt was more disciplined. If picked out wide he stayed out wide, if picked up front thats where he played. Only when older and established was he given the free role, once he had shown what he could do - pass, shoot, pick out players making a run, take corners (!!). Adam is miles from that at the moment.
  9. No I wasn't Andy, and I know what you are going to say - "shut up, he was our best player" Well as I said sometimes he is good, others he is bad, like any young player. So, as you were obviously there was he playing up front or was he tucked behind Lambert ? If he was playing up front then thats one thing, but if he was playing in the hole then thats my point entirely, we are changing formation every other game, home and away, and for what reason ? It was Carlisle FFS, I can understand playing one up front at Charlton but Carlisle ? My point is he is not a natural goalscorer, he is not a wide midfield player so my question still stands - what is he ? what is his position ?
  10. When we equalised Jeff Stelling said something like "Matt Le Tissier, sit down, wherever you are".......so I guess he is just on holiday, I'm sure he wouldnt have been mentioned had he been sacked.....Rod Marsh never was after he left !!!
  11. Well I will say it, sod it, but I think AP's determination to play Lallana is actually harming us and our chances of scoring at the moment. To accomodate him we either play only one up front, usually away, or we sacrifice a wide player at home, cos Lallana will not stay out wide, mainly becaue he is not a wide player. He is not a forward, he is not a wide midfielder, I still struggle to work out exactly what he is. Sometimes he looks good, sometimes he looks average, he is a luxury player and I dont think we can afford luxury players at the moment. Ok, he has scored a couple but he will not be a prolific scorere cos, as I said, he is not a forward. Now our previous luxury player was a different kettle of fish altogether cos he could win a game single handedly, Adam will not do that IMHO. I would drop him for 3 or 4 games, go with 2 up front adn 2 genuine wide players and lets see what happens....cos at the moment the Lallana must be fitted in somewhere plan is not working !
  12. Comes to something when you need to go onto carlisle's web site to find our subs ! Bart, Perry, Wotton, Saga, Papa, Holmes and Patterson
  13. Thats what I would have done to be honest, he's played there before during his career.
  14. I didnt know that about Cottee...tut tut. In fairness it is a good question, has Matt been dropped or just "rested" ? Given that its all blown over shouldn't he be back in the next few weeks ?
  15. After the doom, gloom and depression of the previous regime at Southampton FC its good to read, and see for ones self, how much more professional this club is now running. I guess the deeper the low you encounter (no pun intended) the higher the highs will be but as with most things patience will be required. There is no overnight fix to the years of decay that we were subjected to unfortunately.
  16. Oh yes, we were lucky he didnt talk up to the 8.00 news !!
  17. Its Perry McMillan btw !!
  18. The worst thing about the Manchester derby injury time fiasco yesterday was Fergie sharing a joke with the 4th official when United scored. What did he do, tell him to get his mate to blow the final whistle ?
  19. Having walked past just as the Yeovil fans had clambered over the barrier up onto the road one of them was shouting at his mate to get away, but he wasnt having any of it and wanted to go back for more ! All very sad and stupid. The police officers stood between the railings and the pub were quite frankly pathetic, they just stood there and did nothing.....at worst they should have escorted those Yeovil fans away for their own safety, at best they should have made some arrests.....but they were like statues !
  20. Well having seen that I have changed my mind about the first.....i thought at the time Saga did the old Swan Lake routine.....but best I get down to Specsavers I reckon
  21. A thread of ridiculous statements and assumptions just gained another one !!
  22. Looks good.....just hope it doesnt fall victim of some mindless morons with a black spray can !
  23. I think he will be at his best if he just stands in the middle and gets his head to everything that comes into the box. When he was a third of the way up the pitch it seemed to take him a lifetime to get back into position.....in fact a couple of times he turned in installments !! But having said that, he's bound to be rusty and I think he will prove to be a great signing.
  24. It really defies belief doesn't it ? I thought he looked like he will be a handfull for most defences in this league.
  25. Echo web site has the info - AP says he is about 3 weeks away. Now I really hope this proves to be true for two reasons - the most obvious being that he looks a fine player and his experience helps the others, the second being that it will shoot down in flames all the drama queens who shouted "conspiracy - career over - they aren't telling us, blah blah blah"
