Oh, and congratulations to Brighton too!
-
I think he was referring to Saints v Skates and BHA v Palace as the two South Coast Derbys. If you don't think there's a rivalry between them then just ask any Palace fan, I used to work with 4 of them, they all saw BHA as their main rivals.

What's more interesting is that if we win our next two games and Brighton win their next two games then our match at the Withdean will hand them the title if we fail to win.

How many games can we afford to lose from now on?
Seaside Saint 2 replied to CWD's topic in The Saints
Since Adkins was appointed we have only lost 1 game per month, so statistically we should lose another 3. This should be acceptable if we can win around 10-12 games. -
Transfer deadline day thread!

I agree, a good signing if it happened, but why not loan him now? We've got N'Guessan on loan for the rest of the season already, why wait for the window to shut and re-open? -
Bit disappointing its only part of the programme.....
-
I would too, was just referring to the OP which listed the 3rd round team. Think Hernandez more likely to get a start than Owen, he seems to be more of an "impact player" for them.
-
Ferdinand was injured yesterday and Carrick went off after 24 mins with an injury as well. Don't know how serious either of these are, but they were playing Smalling at CB, could give us some hope?
-
We've also only conceded 5 goals at home in the 4 months since Adkins has been here which is brilliant. Not sure why we're linked with a Bournemouth defender then, it seems like the last area we need to strengthen?

If he pleads not guilty, his case will go up to the Crown Court, and unless Southampton's court system is way more efficient than Sussex's where I used to work I'd be surprised if he has a trial before April. If he pleads guilty and the magistrate wants to sentence him to more than 6 months (I think that's their limit) it'll take at least a few weeks for him to be sentenced in the Crown Court. So its unlikely we'll know on Feb 2nd if he's gotten anything serious, only if its a community service order.

I read it the other way round as that his wife is waiting for a settlement visa, if she can't stay he'll be off. I know from my own experience that having a British passport doesn't automatically entitle your spouse to live in the UK, and the whole process can take up to 6 months. If she had an entitlement to a British passport that could have been sorted out months ago as you can fast-track them and get it in a day.

Falmer's only a 5 minute walk from Moulsecoomb, which is a far worse area than around St Mary's.

We have already made substantial bids for players
Seaside Saint 2 replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Agree with this, if we're planning for the Championship then either now or in the summer we will need a new partner for Fonte as Seabourne, Jaidi & Martin won't cut it at a higher level (Martin might at some point but definitely not our 1st season). -

Umm, fancy sharing? -
Never mind a knighthood, how come he's never been tapped for the England set-up or the U21's? England can't score penalties to save their life for the last 20 years and a player who scored 48 out of 49 doesn't even get brought on as a consultant. Also considering the national side's technical deficiencies it seems strange that one of the most technically gifted English players ever never seems to get asked to contribute to the development of younger players? Maybe he loves Jeff Stelling more than we know...? Sorry its New Years eve and I've had a few!
-
Isn't this the reason a lot of people on here were questioning Puncheon? Lots of hard graft, fancy footwork, but the end product flies off into the carpark?
-
Striker: Charlie Austin, or dare I say it Bradley Wright-Phillips? Midfield: Chaplow permanently. A winger like N'Guessan or Antonio. Defence: Sell Jaidi and given Martin a run. Really not sure about BWP, he is the League's top scorer, but as its us, would he come back/would the fans accept him?
-
Umm, all those current players who've come through their youth squad are Catalonian except Bojan and Pedro (and he's from Tenerife). Slightly more local than say, Gareth Bale was for us. So no, they're not scouring the globe, and I don't expect us to either. The problem with Lowe was he would sell at the first hint of interest. Now I feel even if we do end up selling an academy product it will be much more on our own terms.
-
Apparently he's linked with Vancouver Whitecaps, surely we're a better offer than that? He'll probably go to a Championship club if he does stay in England, or head back up to Celtic.
-
What people are forgetting is that Plymouth, Bristol, and Milton Keynes were all part of the 17 venue bid which would have been whittled down to 12 if we had won. I don't think its unrealistic to believe that these three would have been part of the 5 venues that would be dumped, not least because two of them haven't been built yet!

So.. Who do we want in the next round?
Seaside Saint 2 replied to SimonRichards's topic in The Saints
Palace away, time to have our revenge on Burley. -
Now the tax man is after Plymouth, too...
Seaside Saint 2 replied to Saint_Jonny's topic in The Saints
I think the fact that Mandaric & Risdale are sniffing around Wednesday and Plymouth respectively tells you all you need to know about what's wrong with English football. Neither of these two should be allowed to own football clubs. -
Agree with most of the posts on here, one of the best games I've seen in a long time. Regarding Rickie, did anyone else see Adkins' comments in the programme? "Rickie Lambert who artfully laid on Lee's goal is hopefully now clear of niggling injuries that have plagued him since pre season, and we anticipate Rickie gaining in strength, fitness and confidence as the race continues" Don't know if this is a bit of PR considering Rickie's form, or whether his pre-season injuries really are still dogging him? One other thing, did anyone else think we looked completely clueless whenever we had a throw-in? Richardson in particular seemed to take about 5 mins to decide who to throw it to.

I think the lack of symmetry is because they can extend one of the stands in the future. It's only just on the edge of town, surrounded by 2 university campuses as well, which should bring in a couple more punters on top of the hardcore ones. Despite it being further out of town its easier to get to than the Withdean by public transport. Not sure about the atmosphere, I've been to Brighton games home and away with some of my Seagull supporting mates and they're very quiet at home.

not good enough for us when here but did it at a higher level XI

Not sure I'd count Leon Best either, he hasn't played for Newcastle in the league at all this year, and he didn't exactly set the world on fire at Coventry.
