  1. Carlton Palmer. Whenever I saw him before he signed for us he was absolute rubbish. After he signed for us he was amazing. I remember slating him on Saintslist and having to eat my words.
  2. Yeah, I remember that. WHL was soulless.
  3. Couldn't agree more Steve. He's overrated as well.
  4. And if you gain £2,000 because of a dodgy decision you'll give it to me :-)
  5. We'll agree to disagree then ;-)
  6. I don't agree that technology should be introduced. Football is unique and not comparible to any other sport especially cricket. Rugby too is a stop, start sport where the game is stopped for anything and everything and it's definitely not as dynamic as football. But my main issue, though, is that football should be the same for everyone from the grass roots level to the top professional games and, ATM, you can not apply TV replays to under 8 Sunday morning games (you may in the future). People say there's too much money to be lost in the game because of bad decisions but who loses this money? Not the fans that's for sure. I'm a firm believer of everything evens itself over a season. D'Urso should be sacked though.
  7. I went to every game and went through every emotion (I hate Tranmere) but the most abiding memory for me was 'Adkins, Adkins what's the score?'. I knew then that we were on our way :-)
  8. My niece…… bless :-)
  9. I've been to crap? not half many, many times including '76 when I went in the Fratton End thinking all the Saints lot were meeting in there only to be on my own fully decked out in Saints gear. The police soon escorted me round the pitch where I got soaked ;-) But yesterday was the funniest I have ever seen. We were sat as close as you could get to them. If you look at the pitch from the away end we were as far left as you could get and we could see the vitriol and hatred close up. They really, really hate us. When the final whistle went they, who were in the upper tier of the main stand, had to pass us to get out of the ground separated only by a wrought iron gate. I have never seen so many 50-60 year old men so angry. It was like going to the zoo and watching animals in a cage. How we laughed at them? Unfortunately, this enraged them even more and they started to throw coins (I didn't know they could afford to) missing us............just! One plastic bottle hit my daughter on the shoulder but it was the coke escaping through the unscrewed bottle top that hurt her pride more because it splashed her coat. They really are thick morons. People say its great to have a rival but I don't. I hope they go out of existence, never to return.
  10. Winchester bus 2 :-)
  11. That song is soooooo lame it's embarrassing for them
  12. Extremely well put. My feelings towards Lowe are......... well, unprintable but he was spot on with this. IMO Jones was the thickness of a cigerette paper better than Branfoot and Burley.
  13. Bless him. Ripley was sh ! te imo.
  14. Beattie was a make-weight in the Davies transfer. Hardly a scouting coup. Plus Mark Hughes, David Howells, that little Lee bloke (I've forgotten his name) at left back etc. :-( Awesome is not the word I'd use.
  15. He was absolutely carp. He wasted the Kevin Davies £7m on players like Ripley and was likely to be sacked just before his gardening leave anyway. I really can't understand this affection for him. He took us backwards imo.
  16. OK, that's fair enough. I think I went off topic, a bit, which was wrong. I just wanted to re-affirm that I, personally, don't care about Brighton at all (except the OB who arrested me for breach of the piece during our game at the Goldstone in 78/79 ;-) ).
  17. I can understand your point, in a way, that beating the likes of the list you have given can be more enjoyable but I don't see how the three points against Brighton are more important than any other. To me, three points against Barnsley are just as important as three points against Brighton. I would say, though, that three points against any of our promotion rivals can be more important than other games but Brighton don't fall into the promotion rivals catagory imo. One exception though; we owe the skates big time so I'm talking sh ! te.
  18. Plus they've only beaten us once, home or away, since 1981. 30 years!
  19. Absolutely spot on. I really, really don't give a monkeys about them and I've just completely wasted 2 minutes of my life writing this. I was so happy at the Withdean last season because we got 3 points, that's all. But we all view forums for our own enjoyment and if you want the banter with them, that's fine.
  20. WOW! I'm a bit jealous. I had a couple of mates who were working in Luton at the time and had a Luton address and they were able to get tickets. Demand certainly outstripped supply so I missed out :-(
  21. The smallest away following I've been in was when Newcastle were re-developing the Gallowgate end in 1994 and no away fans were allowed because of the reduced attendance. I went up there ticketless and bought a ticket off a tout outside the ground. I was the only fan who jumped up and cheered when Matty scored the winner from a free-kick just outside the box to make it 1-2.
  22. I was referring to the 20 Mar 2005. Your 1-3 was 29 September 2001 (thanks to Soccerbase). In the game when Crouch got 2 Jakobsson got the other.
  23. If that's the game I'm thinking of (Crouch 2) I thought there were more there than that. It was particularly tough for away travellers that season. I think we only got 6 points on the road (the reason we got relegated imo) that season which was the win at boro and points at Aresenal, Charlton and WBA.
  24. I went to Aberdeen on the Tuesday after the 2003 cup final and I counted 89 Saints fans in the away section. 200 at Sunderland on a Tuesday night in 2003 (which we won 1-0, Beattie scored).
  25. Guly needs to learn the offside rule and when he does…… WOW! My man/men of the match was Fox or Morgan.
