  1. It appeals to my sense of humour - especially after the last 48-hours!
  2. Duncan I have only bothered to read your opening post - I can't be bothered to trawl through all the rest! I have to agree with you protests are pointless! We got our club back once we got to League 1 after all the upset of 2-relegations and administration and the comedy Dutch duo! That's when the "real" fans showed themselves. The trip to Wembley made up for not making the play-offs, and the change after a 4-0 away win in Bristol was as big a shock as the events of this week. I don't think the fans have much to do these days with the wealth of the club with the millions pumped in by SKY. The games are easy to follow on internet streams - infact I haven't missed a game all season. All I have missed has been the travelling to games, a couple of beers pre-match, the singing and the general experience of going to a game. When fans become treated like customers and not the life blood of the club - it becomes less appealing to get off the sofa and attend. Saying all that I will be going to Wigan and it will be the best Saturday of the season so far. The only other game I have bothered with this season was Leeds in the League Cup (and we all remember what happened there). Rather than protest I would like to see Monday night turn into a celebration for all Nigel Adkins achieved in his tenure. For the five minutes before the game celebrate and then when the game starts get right behind the team. Show Cortese we are the reason his business exists and without us the club will die! If you want to bouycott a game - make it the last home game of the season if we are safe. I would go as far to suggest the internet police go to the stadium and physically stop any season ticket holder from attending!!!! See you all at Wigan.
  3. Nigel Adkins is a great ambassador. Never said a bad word about anyone, showed great dignity and honesty, and always so positive and upbeat - we (the fans) will miss you. No one has ever regularly referred to "Saints" fans as magnificent...but he did! Nigel I thought you were maginificent - and I for one could have watched you teams with my head held high. You have put the pride back in the "Pride of the South" Good luck - although we all know you won't need it - in your next venture - football fans everywhere will watch with interest!
  4. Loyalty is a word banded about but there is none in football but the fans. However I believe Nigel would have bled red and white when at the club. Nigel showed us integrity and honour and now he's gone I expect him to be exactly the same and will do nothing but praise the players and supporters of SFC. Great times that will never be forgotten - Adkins legacy to live on! Cheers Nigel - I will watch your next position with interest. We owe you a lot as supporters - perhaps the memory of the fans will endear you to our club in the future!
  5. After the last few years of stability I fear for the mood within the club. It's the change I object to and the timing. We have just started seeing the best from Puncheon, and along with Shaw they wanted to commit to Saints - but I wonder if that was the Nigel factor? Being a true Saints fan was not about winning all the time - it's about loving the game, the players and the management. Might sound a bit gay - but Nigel gave me back the vbelief I had lost under the Lowe regime and the constant change of Managers. I wonder how the players feel this morning? It's easy for us to get all emotional about it and rant on here - but I genuinely feel sick! Nigel you are a top bloke - I have loved your positive attitude, and the way you got Premier League footballers out of League 1 donkies/also rans. If we survive (and that's a big IF!) the blame will be placed firmly at this change as far as I am concerned... To add to the debate - I wonder who will be in goal Monday night?
  6. Sympathies to all the family - my sister (now deceased) used to work at Barclays Bank and had regular encounters with Mr Jones - strange really as she became a Mrs .Jones! Crew cutted Londer Dave Webb - blimey he used to frighten me as a young lad! Hard as nails - but I reckon Docker "Walker" would have had him!

    Puncheon

He was a c*ck and he knows it. Mr Cortese read the riot act - and he has taken stock. He is no longer a young man with potential, he is now at the age where he has to deliver as he will never get another opportunity. How long it lasts will be the key - whilst we are playing well and he can drift in off the right, he will be a happy bunny. Is it me or is he actually beating players now and hitting the target regularly? I thought his attitude stank - and I for one wasn't that forgiving saying he should never wear the stripes again. Well whilst we play in the current kit I guess I'm let off!! I'll get over it as I think he's a popular member of the squad and is part of the driving force behind the recovery. I think he is learning off some of the other players too - but confidence is another key. Obviously Adkins has worked his magic (psychologically) on him and he is now a valued member of the squad. Just glad he wants to play for us for now as he can be a match winner on his day.
  8. We did squander a number of chances - but happy for the days work! Newcastle next Sunday - and they just got tonked at home by Swansea. Nothing to worry about then? Much boosting result and can see us kick on from here. The signs have been coming. Cork gets through so much work and does give our defence much more protection. Ramirez looking full of tricks; Puncheon and Lallana putting in great shifts looking far more comfortable. QPR weren't at the races thankfully - but you can only beat what's in front of you! Shaw was immense at the back on the left - and Clyne was superb. Fonte and Yohida seem to have struck up an understanding - Gazza needs some more coaching on when to come off his line! He was badly at fault for the QPR goal. If it was 0-0 at that stage he would be geting more stick. Stay with the team - Morgan will be out soon for a ban and Davis will be adequate cover. Morgan does ahve a tendency to give the ball away in dangerous positions at times. Commentators on stream think we over elaborate - one pass too many; but it is attractive to watch.
  9. Right omens for todays game... Completed Yorkshire Post "Competiton" HARD Suduko Cooked a curry in the last 24-hours The vintage '76 red (well orange) and white scarf was aired for the first time this season Nothing can go wrong...can it? Expecting nuns on here this afternoon at sometime, perhaps some voo-doo chant from Spain, but most of all the doom-mongeres to start once we go behind (if we do!)! Come on lads - play as though your lives depended on it. No silly mistakes, no wasteful misses in front of goal - and 3-points...
  10. Something doesn't feel right at our club since we got promoted? Interesting observation - and I think therein lies the problem. Motivating players to get there is one thing, but what are they playing for now? Pride isn't enough. Perhaps the demands of playing in Europe frightens some...remember many of these guys came from League 1/Championship sides/Scotland!! Perhaps many of them want to be back in their comfort zones - some of the players last night didn't look as if they cared. The team carried de Ridder for lengthy spells, Guly stepped up a couple of times but didn't put in a shift, and the other two lads up front had no service whatsoever until Isgrove came on.
  11. The game was one way traffic and we should have won convincingly. I don't blame the team or the Manager - I blame the fans! The substitution of Lambert was not the wrong thing to do in my opinion - he had run himself into the ground closing down. Yoshida was out numbered on the right - Fox got little cover from Lallana on the left. Time and time again we looked out muscled by their ownly attacker! Poor old Jos - another two own goals...he will reward us with a couple at the other end soon! Another point less to win before the end of the season - we will win away soon - hopefully next weekend!
  12. Excellent news have you seen the prices - £20 for adults. Good value for a good night in Leeds! Bet we ask for more tickets at these prices!!! See you there providing I can get a ticket out the ticket office!!!!!!!
  13. In answer to your question he charged £20 for Everton game - and Everton took 5,000 fans...we'll be lucky to take 500! See you there?
  14. From a purely selfish view - Bradford or Leeds, then again Donnie might pull off a shock tonight at Norwich! An away gtame would be nice to give me a chance of going - can't see there being a great demand for tickets for this competiton in the middle of the week in October! If we want to test ourselves now we have GAston and Yoshida - what about another crack at Man U at SMS?
  15. What a plonker - I bet Nigel doesn't approve (nor Nicoli!) Fancy doing things like that when away from the club - we will have to send a bodyguard with him next time to ensure he's not tempted into doing something even more stupid! Come to Southampton on Premiership wages and then play silly-bu**ars on international duty - Yosh have a quiet word please!
  16. Let's face it Adam is never going to leap like a salmon and win a header - so might as well take them. I do agree his delivery is poor - wonder if it's anything to do with the movement in the box? It will get better once we deceide who can deliver a ball on a sixpence - perhaps Gazzanigga shout take them all? Gaston - I am officially refusing to call him Ramirez - has a sweet left foot. I expect him to take all the free kicks on the right!
  17. I wonder if Gazzinga in goal makes us tighter as a unit - didn't do much wrong today! Why because the defence and stopped Villa from doing anything - their goal game because Puncheon was back trying to defend!
  18. I wonder if having Gazzinga in goal gave the defence confidence? Great second half - although I quite enjoyed the first half from a footballing view. That Gaston boy looks like a snip at £12m...Yosh the boss? looks secure - and I agree we looked so much more solid with Clyne behind Lalanna. The fact is we didn't give the ball away so cheaply! Rodrigez didn't even get a look in today! Where does Cork fit in? The fact is competition for places in all positions...great days to be a Saint!
  19. Enjoyed today ironically - even though we lost. Thought we played well and at this rate we still have plenty in reserve. So we lost - got a lucky break off the post to equalise, and a free header from a corner. The substitutions didn't work - but I wonder how much that had to do with playing JRod on the wing and Mayuka in the centre? Never been a big fan of Puncheon - but he did his bit today. JWP and Morgan bossed the midfield - an excellent display. Ramirez will add something special, and Lee the pace we seemed to lack although Morgan scoring with a header from midfield was something special! The only way is up literally - strongest team in The Premiership! Worried - nah - just enjoying the ride.
  20. My Spanish is not that hot - but isn't it pronounced Ramireth with the "Z" being pronounced"TH"? Just thought a debate on this could fill another 3 or 4 pages until the news is confirmed!!!
  21. Do all Scousers hate Mancs? Well for me this is the game for Lambert to shine - he'd love to score a couple against this lot. We need to get to the by-line and get it back to him - sounds easy but United's defence is all over the place! I predict a decent result!
  22. Ram - ir - ez Wo - o - o -o Ram - ir - ez Wo- o - o - o He comes from Uruguay He's gonna makes us cry!
  23. Yes but it was only the Olympics FFS!
  24. I'll use one of my three to get the target of 100-pages! Really not sure about this - he is the right age, he certainly has international qulaity (something we lack) and who knows what he will add to the squad! If it is a done neal as stated - welcome Gaston - break a leg...oh no he's not a luvvie!
  25. I just hope today we can conentrate on a game rather than worry about this pending transfer. Personally I have other things to do - and the most important thing today is to get 3-points and not spend hours mass debating what Bologna will do next! If it happens it will be on our terms. I'm sure Ramirez is just a pawn in this messy affair - and at the end of the day the only person who knows whether he is coming is the Bologna President. If they need the money there it's just a matter of time before he caves in if they are desperate for money. I have been lurking all week awaiting news and now I'm bored with it - thankfully there's a game on to take my mind of it!
