  1. He's probably not that unhappy about this, he'd sown the seed last spring when he suggested there was a limit on what he could do at Spurs having reached the CL final. He now gets a handsome payoff, 6 month sabbatical, and then replaces Solskjaer in the summer.
  2. Should we bother?
  3. "Ex Saint", "non player", what is Clive Woodward up to these days...? Can't get this wrong, whoever it is has got to command immediate respect and have a instant rapport with Ralph - have we ever had a non-playing Austrian/German at SFC in the past?
  4. Beat me to it. Is Fred Dinenage narrating?
  5. How long in before they mention the mythical "dock strike"?
  6. We also had Everton at home on Saturday who hadn't won away for 8 months. Not a good start tbh.
  7. Brexit? I think PL-exit is more appropriate for us.
  8. Let's hope he also hates 0-9 results at home too and acts upon it - that must have impressed the TV watching Chinese market.
  9. And what about the second half?
  10. Been off the planet for a couple of days, back down to earth with a bump, had a check and no, it wasn't just all a bad dream. And it's about minus 9 out there this morning. ****s.
  11. a blast from the past. We used to march around the playground in the 60s singing "2-4-6-8, who do we appreciate? S-O-U-T-H-A-M-P-T-ON!" Never impressed the girls, don't know why...
  12. While Forster is capable of this (see 0.03) he's also capable of (see 0.06). I'll remember and thank him for that night if nothing else. [video=youtube;cSHFz-T6Q0A]
  13. I was working in an Engineering firm at the time, we had a Yorkshireman who ran the stores and he always had a radio on. I was in there when it was announced, I don’t know who’s jaw hit the floor hardest or fastest. He was a Leeds fan and whenever I watched the moment Oz reads about ‘Keegan signs for Southampton’ in Auf Wiedersehen Pet. I think of that fella! I was buzzing for weeks.
  14. That made a bit of a mockery of stopping Stoneham, some of the same reasons to kick the football stadium out were completely ignored where the cricket ground was concerned.
  15. I do remember my mate and me marvelling at the plans on show at the library back in the late seventies, we couldn't believe we were finally going to get a 'proper' stadium. I recall 2 different designs, one was with a continuous roof all round and a big bank of terracing at one end (we were even going to get a 'proper end'!), the other had a roof over 3 sides and one open bank of terracing at one end. The things you remember... Concerns were raised by some about hooligans mixing with shoppers on a Saturday afternoon but I think the stumbling block was the club and city council wanting different things. Alas, yet another false dawn.
  16. Never heard that one before, the only 'fog' I can remember in that area was from the old power station that chucked out its own dirty clouds back in the day but, who knows, there always seemed to be someone putting obstacles in the way of Saints moving home.
  17. We sell out the initial allocation 3 weeks before the game and fans that missed out start asking about further tickets but the club just tell us it's sold out. Fast forward to a few days before the game and, although they haven't actually told anyone, an extra block of seats have secretly gone on sale. The only people that would know about this are the ones who look at fans forums where 1 or 2 have stumbled across the news - I've just had a look and they've barely sold any of these extra tickets after 2 or 3 days. I'd imagine Wolves were hoping to sell the remainder to SFC on the usual 'no returns' with extra allocations but then just offered them anyway as no good to them unsold. But our club don't really appear to value away support, they don't make money and probably see it as a bit of an inconvenience selling them. The next time we moan about taking a smaller allocation they'll probably cite this game and say they took extra but nobody bought them, despite no announcement from the club..
  18. That can only be for cup matches, the most they give away fans in the league is around 2,300 and that end is split with home fans.
  19. I couldn't tell you what time Cedric was pulled, I don't know if it was before or after the team sheets went in but surely RH can change his formation up to the last minute . Taking a guess, Ralph may have had a late change of heart on formation and Cedric may not have agreed with his new duties and tempers frayed. The obvious replacement was Valery, the fact he didn't get the nod may suggest it was a formation change decision, whatever it was, it looks like Cedric didn't agree with it!
  20. I think are good gutsy roar is as good as a sing-song, that's something you rarely get in stadiums these days. Shear noise makes the hairs stand up on my neck, the barrage of noise that drove a team forward when attacking or when getting a corner that could wilt a few legs in the visiting defence. The singing and chanting is pretty poor these days but the long spells of near silence and polite clapping takes away one of the biggest elements of watching live football. So many slag the team but 'supporters' need to get involved and do their bit.
  21. I'd imagine both sides would need to hand in their team sheets at exactly the same time, so either manager wouldn't know each others line-ups until it was too late to change anything?
  22. 3 weeks away, international break October 12th, but going to be another good turn-out.
  23. I don't think he really wants to be, bigger fish are waiting.
  24. He's basically a librarian (with a hamster bladder), he must meet all kinds of interesting people.
