Being such an important game now it would be good to see the club repeat what they did for 'Dellhurst' and lay on free coach travel - a number of clubs do this now for big games. It's another long midweek trip and would be reward for the thousands that have trekked around the country again this season. Although not my choice for travelling away it would be for some and guarantee a good turnout - and we're going to need all the help we can get in the next few weeks.

Last year we got around 3,500 for Orient, one entire side of the ground. But these tickets were hot property and those that couldn't get hold of 'home' seats missed out. It will be even harder to get hold of these this time as it's getting serious now and demand will far outstrip supply, particularly as Brisbane Road holds good memories for us in previous promotion clinchers. Orient may also try and offer us less tickets this time as they're also in with a shout and will be popular with their own fans. Guess we've got around 3,000 for Charlton next Tuesday? I believe the most tickets we can get at any remaining away game now is 3,600 at Rochdale but that's midweek. We could could get 3,000 or so for the midweeker at Plymouth. Brighton 8-900, Brentford 1,400.

I'd say we're more likely to get 3000 it it's the April date. If it's May then that would be their last home game of the season where crowds are generally up and they're very likely to be fighting for their League One lives. If that's the case it would make it a very tricky fixture for us.

Strange, sure I heard their manager, Mr Bradbury, say Southampton "are a massive club" on Friday's South Today. It gets so confusing.

Bet there wasn't so much CCTV back then though. Or rattley fences.

That Yeovil free kick was almost worth the entrance fee alone.

"Local derby" ??? 'kinnell 300-mile round trip!!!

Only 1322 tickets for Bournemouth!

I guess what he maybe saying is - the tickets went on sale in October and it's only just sold-out a week or so ago (4 months to sell 10k home tickets for their "biggest game of the season"). And as they've given us a paltry allocation (half as many as they gave Brighton) then potentially a lot of ticketless Saints fans may make the trip in hope that their JCLs may cash in. It's hardly proved the hottest-ticket-in-town for many Boscombe residents. I'm aware of a number going down willing to pay above face-value to get in. If not an afternoon down the beach and an icecream. -
Winnable but so was Tranmere and Hartlepool. I'd take Saints 2-1.

Have a good look at some of these Ultras groups, they're usually full of lads, a real 18-30s holiday! No kids, women or wimpy looking teenagers and when you look at some of the grounds it's all around the stadium. I'd say those days are long gone in this country, it's now all families and sanitised facilities, there's just not enough like-minded people to really get it going. I'd love to see SMS crackling and bouncing but there's not a ground in this country that comes anywhere near many on the continent for fervent support..

Now I was never Lowe's greatest fan (to put it mildly) but I did like the one he occasionally trotted out (no, not the "Klingon" one) :- "Respect Everyone, Fear No-one".

"Deano, Deano" Very sad. RIP.

Was this the best goal ever scored by Saints?
100%Red&White replied to Son of Bob's topic in The Saints
It was indeed and followed by a rather splendid rendition of "sit down Pinochio" that night at a particular scallie with a big hooter. -
Let's just hope we don't have to go through the playoffs...
100%Red&White replied to stevegrant's topic in The Saints
F*ck no, not the play-offs. If it has to be, well we're all going to pay whatever, aren't we? Just don't run out of beer - Pride Park was not a happy place that night. Don't let me down Saints. -
http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2295231,00.html This was 2 days ago and we'd sold 500 - last season we sold 750 in advance and another 100 or so on the night. Should have a good turnout, possibly similar to last years cold midweek trip, particularly if we get a result at Rochdale.

He should think himself lucky he didn't have a rattly fence in front of him.

I hope you're wrong. With a purely business head on you could say (although not necessarily agree with) that that makes economic sense but hopefully Cortese has learnt a lot in his short time in football and worked out that you need to treat your fans/customers a little less harshly. It's got to be more beneficial to give a bit and keep those customers happy and then surely you'll get more back in the long run.

I can understand 'The9's feelings on this, season tickets certainly didn't appear to be a particularly important priority for the club last year but I'd hesistantly say things may be different this time round. After some 'not-quite-full-houses' with 'data-base-only' sales this season I could also see the benefits of re-introducing the Membership scheme too.

I wonder if season ticket holders will be offered ‘Early Bird’ renewals this year for next season - usually out around March so guess we’ll find out soon enough? Obviously we all hope to be in a league higher but if we miss out again it may be better to have as many as possible hooked in for another slog in League One. Times are tough for most of us financially and will probably get tougher, I hope the club look to freeze prices whatever league we’re in. Brighton were offering STs to existing and even new applicants for £375 for seats in a brand new stadium and, more than likely, in the Championship. We may be in the affluent south/south east and pull in fans from a very wide area but sometimes I think the club forget about many people that live in this city and are not as flush as others out there. Southampton has some nice areas but a large section of the population live in more deprived districts. When you consider the big council estates like Millbrook, Shirley Warren, Lordshill, Thornhill, Weston, Townhill Park, Harefield, The Flowers, Northam, St Marys – there’s more – that’s a lot of potential fans that could be priced out with the way things are going. Does anyone know when they’re expecting to bring in the new electronic entry system that’s been talked about? I wont mention 'installment plans'. D'oh.

I seem to remember hearing/reading that the stadium was built in a way it could easily be extended as the footings were substantial enough to take another tier and an increase of capacity up to 50,000 was possible. I think it was a simple(ish) job of bolting onto 3 stands but to get up to 50k would have included the Itchen which was a far more complicated and expensive project - but could be done. In them days we had a great big mortgage and it was far too risky (as it proved!) to push ahead with expansion but circumstances have obviously changed and if development of the area and the sell of JF comes to fruition then I'm sure Cortese wouldn't skimp on the stadium makeover.
-
We get the entire end, looks like away fans are spoilt at Rochdale - you get the newest part of their ground with good facilities and it holds 3,644 to be precise. Very generous and should help the visiting support. http://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/page/SpotlandStadium/0,,10441,00.html

Only 1322 tickets for Bournemouth!

I stand corrected, they've given us the usual away section down the side. But they're still a bunch of c*nts and they've still not sold out. -

They've only given us the open temporary seating behind the goal, Brighton had that and the normal away bit down the side. But what makes them look a particularly sorry bunch of c*nts is the fact the tickets for the Southampton game went on sale in October and they still haven't sold out - and they so want to be out rivals! -
Only a matter of time before the skates make their move "faaack Spurs, faaack West Ham, faaack Orient, this is our manor and it's OUR stadium and you're need to stick another tier on top for our lot!"

Remember going in the Classic once or twice - must have been the once who in their right mind would go back a second time?! The Atherley in Shirley was a regular destination Saturday mornings, Battle of Britain was amazing back then! Not that I know of it but I believe there used to be a cinema somewhere near where Southern/Meridian TV Studios stood.
