  1. Yeah but, we took well over twice as many as our home attendance to our 'cup final' last season
  2. At least they've got the 80,000 pottyharbourdome to look forward to.
  3. I think it's all about getting fans committed with a season ticket. If you've got one you'll generally go on those cold winter nights against some no-mark club when if you haven't it's all to easy to "give that one a miss". If you can guarantee full-houses it's more financially beneficial for a club to discourage ST holders but for most it's far better to get fans "on the bus" from the off. It also looks good for a club's prestige to boast of massive season ticket numbers sold.
  4. Norwich are a fine example of how to treat your fans. The season they were relegated from the Prem with us they heavily discounted their Season Tickets - around half of the prices charged at SMS if I remember correctly. By doing that they ensured they kept the fans onboard and have continued to offer very good 'Early Bird' deals since. If the cost of our STs doesn't rise too dramatically this season I can see us matching our average Premiership ST take-up which was around 22,000 - too high an increase will see it slightly less but still well up on last year.
  5. Well we took almost our entire Dell attendance to Selhurst Park a few years ago for a relegation-nail-biter! According to their forum they've taken 3k to a couple of crucial games in recent times so maybe 1700 isn't beyond them - particularly if a few Midlands Saints are helping them out.
  6. They have a total allocation of 1700. 500 initially and now a further 1200.
  7. I would imagine most fans will want to be partying instead of rattling buckets for this one. It would be handy if the club could put something up on the big screens explaining the campaign and directing supporters to the website - backed up with a Marcus tribute.
  8. I'm going for the Liebherrs reinforcing their commitment to Southampton FC. And the return of Balti Pies for next season!
  9. Whilst I'm not "encouraging" it, it's feasible Saints fans will find ways of getting in. The big difference between Hillsborough and Griffin Park is size (Brentford away end is a tiny terrace) and as JRM says, it was the fences at Sheffield that resulted in the tragedy. If becomes overcrowded on Saturday fans will simply spill pitch side.
  10. In the JPT Semi last season MK fans only had one tiny section in the far corner (Block 47 or 48?) Saints had the rest. How did they segregate that in the concourse? Shows it can be done.
  11. Can you imagine if this happened on a fairly large scale? They'd then be forced to move Brentford fans to accommodate Saints fans spilling out of an overcrowded end. And with the Echo speculating yesterday that 1000 will travel without tickets (I'd say it will be many more) Brentford may yet rue their decision to refuse us more tickets.
  12. Can't say I particularly like the collar on the NYC shirt but I wouldn't be surprised to see the shirt resemble this new Umbro design. If someone could mock it up in red and white stripes and just plain yellow with blue trim I don't think you'll be too far away from what we'll be playing in next season. Although the aap logo will likely be black on the home shirt, It will more than likely be red on the away as that's their corporate colours. http://www.aap3.com/SitePages/index.aspx The aap colour is a deeper cherry red, that would look nice for our stripes and actually the original colour when we first changed from sash to stripes at the turn of the 20th century.
  13. I haven't seen this interview but could Lawrie have just be commenting on their similar playing styles and how they used to 'over lap and link up perfectly' with whoever each were playing with at the time (and not that they were both on the pitch at the same time)? If not then Alzheimers it probably is.
  14. Surprised they're not bringing more down then. They've sold their initial allocation of 400 and took another 300 a couple of days ago. I'm sure a few more will travel down and pay on the day, they had around 3k last season.
  15. Now I'm not saying Cass Pennant wasn't a nawty lump - he quite obviously was - but like most hoolie books he had a tendancy to dress it up a bit. He certainly used a bit of artistic licence when he told a 'story' of how the ICF took it to Saints at Orient in the FA Cup back in 1985 - well they did attack a near empty terrace not long after the gates opened while most of the 5k up there that day were still back in the pubs!
  16. As you say it is 'Crap jokes' but I'd suggest it is correct Explanation: She already had a razor for the other one. One more Millsy for the road: Macca was being interviewed about the his new relationship. He was asked whether he would ever go down on one knee again. "No" he said, "She isnt even talking to me anymore"
  17. A fat bird eventually served me in MacDonalds at lunchtime; she said "sorry about the wait". I said "don't worry fatso, cut out the buns and you'll lose it" I walked out with a double Big Mac, large fries, extra sides and large drink. A poor homeless man sat there and said "Excuse me mate, I haven't eaten for two days". I told him "I wish I had your will power".
  18. Yesterday's news! Over 900 were gone yesterday lunchtime so I would think a few more will have been added by now. But I'd guess it will be well in excess of a thousand by kick-off as many have said they're paying on-the-gate, we'll have something like a third of the attendance as they're not expecting more than 3,500 in total as the Mancs are playing Chelsea tonight.
  19. Fear not, Corpy ho-ho-ho and a few others will soon be back to inform us all of the impending 85,000 seater megadome and endless list of monster signings once the ruskies roll into town. :guffaw:
  20. And everyone knows Paul McCartney's a squillionaire and the last present he ever gave to Heather Mills was a plane! It was so she could shave both legs.
  21. But he's a Arsenal fan so how would he know? He "was there" in 1966, but didn't know it was to go up from the old second division to the top flight for the first time in our history. He also didn't even seem to now we played them just a few years later to repeat the same feat go back up again. Wrong result, wrong division, wrong f'kin club gooner.
  22. And talking of Heather Mills, she recently challenged Jake the Peg to a game of darts. Jake won 3 legs to 1.
  23. And also the lack of desire to get the place as full as possible with Season Ticket holders. Still, if finances do get a bit tight they've always got OXO as a safety net. And Lallana. And Fonte..............
  24. I was only about 4 in '66 but great memories of 1978. If I remember correctly the attendance at Brisbane Road that night was around 19-20,000 of which nearly 75% were Saints fans - mostly dangerously squeezed into a massively over-filled terrace (opposite where we're housed Saturday) all along one side. There were more in the main stand and two end terraces, some of who quickly despatched the little mob of Spurs that turned up right at the end. I believe we also had upwards of 10,000 there in 1966. Only 3,300 officially there this Saturday (who knows how many more in the home stands) so although it wont be quite the same it's set up nicely for another noisy and memorable beer-fest of a day.
  25. Bank Holiday weekend - coastal approaches may be a touch busy. Hopefully most of the caravans will already be down there but coming back.............
