  1. Their expansion plans are for the stand that faces the Thames and will include money-making apartments as part of the redevelopment. It's been reported in the past that they've had an eye on Stamford Bridge if Chelsea moved away but I would think it would be far more lucrative for Abramovich to sell their plot just off the Kings Road for housing. Fulham are in the very handy position of being in West London right alongside the river. Due to location, as long as they remain in the Premier League, they’ll always have the potential to attract some top players who will fancy the lifestyle. And if they ever relocated that patch of land will be a goldmine. They’re a smaller club than Saints in terms of stadium/hardcore support but financially they must be worth considerably more.
  2. Saw a post on the UI earlier saying Sunderland are charging a tenner for adult tickets for their home game and Hull £12 for their 'local derby' with 'uddersfield.
  3. Ridiculous price. It will be justified by some as the 'south is an affluent area', that may be true in many areas but I don't think it really applies to most of Southampton. I know we pull in fans from a wide area but for a midweek, unglamorous, League Cup tie you're more likely relying on locals to fill the ground - at £18 a pop many will give it a miss. Mistake imo.
  4. Parking on matchdays is about to get a whole lot harder now with Lime Street Car Park disappearing with the East Street demolition, that's a fair chunk of spaces going.
  5. Got to be something out there?
  6. Most (top) players coming to England would but if you're joining Chelsea or Fulham chances are you'd be living somewhere around the Surrey/Hampshire border. Living in Southampton would only add about 30 minutes onto a commute into London, if he lived around Winchester even less. Southampton is only a 2 hour drive into 'central' London when the traffic's heavy (an hour on the train) and you can get to the top of the M3 in less than an hour. There, where does he sign?
  7. I'd imagine his family are cherishing this up in Scally land today. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/england-3-scotland-2-scouser-5730901 If he never gets another look-in then last night will keep him buzzing for the rest of his life. Top man.
  8. If it's in the Daily Star, well................................................
  9. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/332140/Southampton-chasing-8m-deal-for-Pablo-Osvaldo Cheap.
  10. Yeah, there's some cracking photos there that catch the man in full flow, doing what he does best, so out of all to choose from Sky plumped for this one couldn't have been a bitter little sk:mcinnes:te could it?
  11. Nice pic of Rickie, I guess someone at Sky is not so keen on RL's call-up http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12016/8860748/rickie-lambert-and-wayne-rooney-in-england-squad-for-friendly-against-scotland
  12. 2,500 according to a post on the 'Saints Away Supporters' forum, which, as Granty suggests on there, is likely to be the full allocation as the capacity at the Hawthorns is only a shade over 26k. As they are allowed to take segregated seats out of the visitors allocation then 2,500 is about right. Let the pleading for tickets begin.
  13. As most business for most clubs will no doubt be carried out (as usual) in the last week of the transfer window and with a lot of deals done on the final day, come back in September and ask again.
  14. You're more confident about that than me, reckon they'll go pretty quickly. If it's 10% of the gate it'll be nearer 2,800.
  15. If the 'black-box' doesn't reveal the speed at the time for some reason then, if they've got footage of this crash, they should have numerous previous recordings of this train negotiating the bend at the correct speed for comparison.
  16. Well they used to be, was famously known as "The Battle of the Hamptons". Unfortunately, in the same year that the IOW broke away from the mainland the region's landscape was altered dramatically due to vulcanism and plate tectonics (you had to be there) and at the same time a strange little island floated into the Solent and so p*rtsmouth replaced Northampton as our new local rivals. Fact.
  17. If you've not already done Barcelona then this is a no-brainer, as VFTT says, ticks all the boxes. Short flight from Southampton, ideal for a few days break. Stay around the Gothic area, walking distance to a cracking beach, marina, great stroll throught the narrow streets, Ramblers nearby (but far enough away). Easy to get around, Metro stops everywhere, Nou Camp easy to get to (if she'll let you), Montjuic and the Olympic stadium with fantastic views over the city (go on the cable cars). And I'm not at all religious but the Sagrada Familia is a breathtaking building.
  18. You're probably right but if it's the calibre of signings suggested then they may want to put bells on it this time.
  19. The players are flying out tomorrow morning but Poch and/or the Don could be staying behind for any announcements to the press.
  20. Anyway, has he signed yet?
  21. Is that REALLY what's on the back/bottom of their shirts?
  22. Wasn't that just the carve up of Block 3? Read somewhere we sold around 23k last season.
