  1. I know it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea (certainly not mine) but speaking to a Leeds fan earlier who was there at the weekend, he said they were letting Leeds fans drink in TGI's alongside the ground and there were loads in there. Probably as close as you can get other than drinking inside but Bletchley would be preferable for most, I'm sure.
  2. It's only taken around 2 hours before going A34 to Oxford/Bicester then past Buckingham to MK, stadium that side of town. Looks like they split away fans between upper and lower tiers now, that never helps with creating a decent atmosphere, although good numbers will travel.
  3. A nasty potential career-changing injury, echoes of the David Busst break against United, but nice touch by Saints and the player http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34264202 Equally bad news for England but in a unfortunate way now opens the door and an incentive for Ryan Bertrand.
  4. Well, let's hope you're right. The pain will probably get worse though, before it gets better - once the draw is made today and we see where we could have been going.
  5. And we lost to Sheff Utd. Gulp.
  6. Thank fook for that. Oh, hang on, what happened against Everton and Watford
  7. Their official site pumping up the home fans https://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=da&u=http://fcm.dk/home&prev=search The red lamps are lit. MCH Arena is filled to the brim in the decisive showdown between FCM and guests from Southampton All prerequisites for a hell of a fight is present on Thursday when FC Midtjylland should try to play through to the Europa League group stage. The 9,481 seats at MCH Arena is occupied, it is one of the most important matches in Midtjylland's history and FCM have managed to create tension with a good result in England. I hope the central Jutland fans let inhibitions stay at home and create a maximum pressure against Southampton on Thursday. It is the type of matches where the 12th man could be decisive for the match outcome, encourages brand manager Søren Märcher. In other words, the 12th man more important than ever, because we can not plan results, but when the unit is together, we can deliver it, others did not think was possible! The match kicks off at 20.45 and will also appear on TV3 +. Apparently the Malmo fans were outstanding against Celtic last night, the Scandinavians appear to be up for it like most other European fans. Just the Brits that are passive 'supporters' these days then.
  8. Nothing like leaving it late - a number of Saints are travelling with these flying from Bournemouth https://www.sportoptions.com/Southampton/index.asp Looks like 4 seats remaining.
  9. Most availability in the Northam 'away blocks' 44 and 45 - if everyone shuffles across it would stretch our 'singers' over the whole end and the 'Yoof' can have their 'bantz' with the 50 or so Brentford fans rumoured to be coming down
  10. It's looking around that with present ticket sales and it's dry this afternoon/evening so could see a decent 'walk-up' to nudge it up a bit more. Reasonable turn-out when live on the box.
  11. Everton's away support is top notch, great turnout for a long trip/early kick-off live on TV - most are probably coming from Boscombe though. Mostly single seats left other than the block that the Scousers sent back and can't see too many more shifting now at £39 (plus booking fee!) when it's on the box. 30-31,000 I'd guess. Hoping the early kick-off don't mess with the atmosphere too much.
  12. I don't share your worry, Clasie is an excellent player. He's been playing international football for 3 years including the World Cup in Brazil. His fitness levels will improve, he'll need to get used to the physicality and pace of the Premier League and he needs to settle in. He's young, moving country, his wife has just given birth, all this will have an effect, he needs time and patience and understanding from Saints fans more than anything right now.
  13. Published: 07 August 2015 10:10Last update: 07 August 2015 14:16 Dozens of supporters of the football club Vitesse Arnhem have spent the night in the cell. About seventy football fans are arrested Thursday evening after a big brawl in the Centre of the city. An agent wounded. Of the seventy 23 yet remain in the cell. Among them are four British supporters of Southampton. The other arrested 47 suspects are sent home, but must report to the police at a later date. The detained hooligans have '' a history of soccer violence. '' Chairs and tables Vitesse played Thursday night against British Southampton. Arnhem had a special supporters square decorated for thousands of English fans. According to the police there is thrown with chairs and tables. An agent was slightly injured. When the mobile unit arrived, all fighters holed bosses are in a café. The police took out women and children out of the bar and kept then all male attendees. Feyenoord There were rumors that a group of Feyenoord-hooligans would have provoked the brawl, but is, according to a police spokesman Friday. There are also no locals picked up. Just one incident after thousands of football fans drinking all day is probably a result in the circumstances tbf.
  14. We're all Europa virgins, we live and learn. I'd guess we may see something similar done next time there's a big travelling European support, maybe in Guildhall Square or the Parks.
  15. Hopefully then we get 500 over there that want to get involved. Newer stadium than St Mary's, tight ground should produce a good atmosphere but looks to be in the middle of nowhere! Even just 500 should be able to make their presence felt and looks like they've got their Ultras. Can't work out where the aways are put?
  16. Tbf they got an absolute SportsDirect bargain there - was £299.99 now £145.00!!
  17. "What they DON'T have is the great history*, the crowds Pompey got in the '40s and '50s or the future prospects. Do they have a season ticket waiting list? To me they have bolted on the middle class redoubts of Eastleigh, the New Forest,Winchester etc. to winch themselves up- just about- to 30,000" The crowds they got in the "40s and 50s"? What did they expect, they found a load of glory hunters when they won the cup/league. It's well known that loads of Saints fans went down for a chance to see the 'stars' of the day, no TV saturation in the old black & white days. Included in the attendances were all the servicemen based in the area that they let in for free so it's amazing really that most of their crowds were mostly in the 30-40,000s at a time the big clubs were getting twice that! Their record crowd is just over 50k in a ground that could hold another 10k at its peak. If they're so fookin' great why was there so many empty blue seats inside fratton in the good days back in the Prem? And why did they struggle to sell FA Cup Final tickets? They just lost their 'middle class redoubts' from Petersfield, posh Surrey, east Hampshire countryside, etc. when the appeal wore off. And what fookin' history do they have? They're only 2 years old. Deluded freaks.
  18. Just 1,400 - so that looks like the 1,200 in the away fans section plus another couple of hundred at the back of the East Stand (223/224) as suggested then?
  19. And the Saints fans that have already bought in 120-122 will probably be pushed over into Blocks 123-124 to keep them all contained.
  20. If our 'overspill' is tucked up at the back of the Oost Stand in blocks 223-224 both Saints sections will be totally unaware of each other. Looks a bit like Wigan with the corners boxed in - new stadium and you can still get 'restricted view' with pillars! Nice stadium though, looks like it would produce an intense atmosphere.
  21. Looking at the stadium plan the main stand looks like it's probably the 'West' which is the other side. 'Oost' is next to the aways (uitvak), if blocks 123-124 are reserved for us that could be good news if we've already hoovered up blocks 120-122 (and they let us keep them).
  22. Tough fixture for first trip but this is what Europe is all about. Great one for the fans, hopefully the club try and squeeze as many tickets out of the hosts as possible. Whatever we get won't be enough!
  23. Or Erwin may be ready to have a go? And there's always the Poortvliet-Wotte dream-team to fall back on.
  24. And that is how most realistic Saints fans probably see us. Southampton is a 'medium' sized city and that is reflected in the football club. Compared to the top 5 or 6 everyone else is 'small' but out of 85 other league clubs, as for size, we sit within the top 10, as for quality, the league table speaks for itself. In League One/Championship we were a "big" club in the eyes of many opposition fans - the skates look big for League Two (only just) and, as they like to think down there, everyone's "cup final" but in the Premier League they were tiddlers and couldn't regularly fill 21k even in the 'good' times. We're in a good place and likely to grow as a club if we can keep it going, everything's in place but others are catching up. Medium-sized Saints to keep bothering the big-boys imo.
