  1. Football's on the change again, China the US, Europe may have to develop a 'Super League' to keep up, the TV companies want a global audience, that's where the future (and big money deals) are for them. Horrible thought, but for most of us, it may see a bit of normality return to the English game, albeit with casualties along the way.
  2. Did the dinlo have his tongue in his cheek when suggesting Twickenham Is this for when they go charging up the leagues to the Prem or is it to house the 70,000 they're already getting in the 4th Division? 'kinell, they could barely find 18,000 home fans when they were last in the big time, how many are going to travel 70 miles up the motorway every other week? They'd be able to house them all in the players dugout!
  3. Maybe they could reintroduce the Early-Bird renewal and offer a reasonable discount that way. But as just about every PL club voting against capping 'away' tickets when that was an easily doable proposal then I have my doubts. Unless this Scouse walk-out rapidly escalates.
  4. Good point, well spotted! oops, schoolboy error
  5. Where do you think you will realistically finish this season? 7/8th Which three teams do you tip for relegation this season? Villa, Norwich, Sunderland How do you rate Slaven Bilic first season as a manager in the Premier league? Very good to date considering injuries, getting rid of BFS was a great start West Ham sit in sixth place after 24 games having briefly occupied the third spot but what league position can West Ham realistically achieve this season under Bilic? 6/7th If you could have any current West Ham player in your team who would you choose? Payet Do you understand what the 'West Ham way is' and what it means to Hammers fans? As said, long gone since the days of “winning us the World Cup” [winky-thingy] Which Saints player should we include in our Fantasy dream team? England’s No.1 - Fraser Forster Which Saints player should West Ham players fear on Saturday 2nd Jan? Your Porn King’s favourite, Charlie Austin 14 Supporters' Trusts came together to petition the Government for a public inquiry about West Ham's occupancy of the Olympic Stadium. Does the fact that West Ham got a good deal bother you personally as a football fan? Should have gone to Orient [another-winky-thingy] How do you rate Ronald Koeman's season? Not a great start, too many top players taken from him in the summer (again), sorting it out now. Top manager. How do you expect the Saints to set-up against West Ham on Saturday Team/formation prediction? Injuries to key players dictate, if he can replace Targett’s role, 5-3-2 likely. What is your score prediction for the Saturday? 1-0 home win, in off Chas' "dodgy knee"
  6. Tough game, despite their not too shabby injury list they've been a decent side for a bit now, BFS-free helps. Expecting a more entertaining occasion than recent encounters at SMS but can still see a stalemate until Chas A comes off the bench late and sticks one in with his knee - "dodgy one" of course - and dedicated to the WH porn barons.
  7. Would be the perfect scenario, it would f*ck the North London lot right over, there's a big thing between the two clubs fans. To rub salt into the wound, so the story goes, Abramovich was in a helicopter on his way to buy Spurs when he flew over Stamford Bridge and decided to go there instead.
  8. As we're not being particularly serious So much more than Charlie's wakin' me To my core and Charlie's shakin' me And tell my story And Charlie's makin' me And Charlie's makin' me smile Oh oh woh........... one for the RHCP fans
  9. Ticket sales have, as usual, picked up the past couple of days, should be close to 30k. Watford will have a decent following, costs them just £1 for coach travel, but still have tickets on sale out of their 2,500. Block 43, that they didn't take, will probably remain empty. I still haven't forgiven them for that cup night up there in '81.
  10. A couple of phone numbers that be useful Ticket Booking Line: 023 8178 0780 Supporter Relations: 023 8071 1980
  11. Just noticed a typo, that should have said 'Ikea' not 'Wickes' - just in case it made a difference to someone (can't edit original post).
  12. As said, more liked in his later years, was a bit annoying on The Big Match and World Cup panels, even if he did know his stuff. Remember him taking a lot of stick from Saints fans on the terraces at Blackburn. It was a live FA Cup game on a Friday night in 84 and the Beeb decided to tuck their TV Box up in the corner of our end. Once everyone realised he was up there he was getting pelters. Can't forgive him for that shocking song he introduced at Cov and what a profile! But a football man through and through. RIP.
  13. Although, while being interviewed on the Dell pitch on becoming Saints manager he did say he would have "walked over broken glass for this job, even when he was down the road". Happy days.
  14. Yep, that was a great watch. He was a hero of mine long before he came to Southampton, I was pretty chuffed when he rolled up down here and feel privileged to have watched him as player and manager at my club. Makes me want to see Harrison Reed get back into our side even more now
  15. I’ll give another thumbs-up for Wren. I refitted our kitchen a couple of years back after looking at a most of the mentioned. I’d probably say Wren, Benchmark or Howdens (but not a lot wrong with Ikea, Wickes or B&Q either tbh) All that I looked at come (unlike the old Hygena days!) with carcasses already made up but a consideration with Wickes (back then) was there was no service area behind the units for pipes, cables, etc. Went with Wren because it was very good quality and also done a great deal with them with a few extras thrown in on top of the ‘latest offers’. I bought the worktops and a couple of other bits and fitted it myself so saved a few bob there, although I had the worktops cut in by a pro at mates-rates. Any of them will come out, measure up and supply an impressive ‘3D’ computer mock-up to give you a very good idea to how it will look.
  16. Fook knows what game I was watching then, certainly no local derby as the paltry away attendance? The place was shaking. Recall United's 'Red Army' having a big barney other there in the 70s in Europe.
  17. The demographic of an English football crowd has certainly changed from the 'good old days'. Very much a family day out now. I remember watching with a touch of envy, a match on TV at St Etienne a couple of years back. They had one end behind a goal, similar in size to the Northam, which was full of 18-30 year olds, 95% male, all bouncing around and making a racket. Then it went up the other end and it was exactly the same! There were no more than 50-odd away fans poked up in one corner, just ignored while both ends battled out the chanting at each other. Can't ever see (half) the Northam having such an exchange with the Chapel Enderzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  18. It must come as a bit of a shock for our recent foreign signings, and managers, at just how poor the atmosphere is inside St Mary's and every other English ground compared to the vibrant stadiums seen all over Europe and beyond. Other than familiarity, there's little advantage for us playing at home these days, the players aren't exactly roared on and visiting teams really just get a free ride. When we're piling forward or have a corner the fans should be trying to rattle defenders. Of course, it's up to fans whether they sing or not, but it's not just about singing, just get a bit animated and make some noise. Hopefully a cup quarter final might wake a few up.
  19. I've heard mentioned it's the day of the Liverpool match and then the Freemantle. Followed by, fittingly, an evening at St Mary's!
  20. Not that anyone in Block 35, and a few others I assume, will know much about it. Just the usual muffled sound coming out of the PA.
  21. This isn't a Saints initiative, it's being put forward by the Premier League authorities, they may not have a choice.
  22. Lower away tickets prices looking a little more likely http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/nov/18/premier-league-away-tickets-cheaper-richard-scudamore but they've all got to agree, probably be nearer a dirty-thirty.
  23. It wasn't all good back-in-the-day. Rich Chorley and the Valley Slags gets my vote. Leeds loved 'em.
  24. I've been going 45 years and he's one of the faces that have always been there, all over the country. RIP fella.
