Let's hope we're not signing a tur.....well, you know.

Nice one, cheers. Do they deliver as far as Paarl, Saffa?

Any recommendations for a good competitive skip hire company, Southampton area? Or if anyone wants 3 ton of rubble/hardcore?!!

Time will no doubt tell but anything I've seen of him he just looks such an accomplished player at 21. Maybe his route through at Bayern was just blocked and a gamble on their part to sell him. Famous last words and all that, but with years ahead of him, I can only see him getting better.

I think this time next year we'll probably be mourning the loss of 2-3 of those names, and if Pierre-Emile Højbjerg lives up to expectation, make that 3-4. Maybe it's an age thing but I accept, and now, even expect it. Some cheering their names now will no doubt be booing those "well-they-weren't-that-good-anyway-mercenaries" in 12 months. Along with several others, we've got a place in the football pyramid that means we'll occasionally compete with the biggest but we won't be able to sustain it because if the big 6 or 7 clubs want your best players they'll have them. Everton fought off the big boys last year for Stones (like we have done with Schneiderlan, Wanyama) but 12 months on he's gone and likely to also lose Lukaku, this from a bigger club than us with a "£100m" warchest burning a hole in their pocket. We're not a small club but we're not a big club either, we fall in that next group trying to intrude on the top 6 with occasional success. Unless they've been right ****s I have no desire to barrack ex-players or managers for leaving us for bigger clubs, I think the last time I booed anyone was Branfoot, now he was a ****!

Nutshell. A few on here (and I understand some are just on a wind-up/and/or/Division4 dinlos) just come across as greedy, spoilt and ungrateful lightweights that have never left their bedroom.

BTL? BTW = By The Way - BTL= By The Lies? Bellringers, Thieves, Lowlifes? Bumpkins, Tarts, Losers...................?

That's one way to look at it, and it's a valid point, but maybe we need to look at the bigger picture and appreciate how Virgin could be setting a precedent for others to follow. No doubt some of our fans won't going on previous meltdowns every summer. Probably best to wait and see how this develops.

Big game for the skates.

As jamesfp1 points out, the 'good old days' are long gone, this is entirely different and far safer that the current situation of standing behind seats. I find it amazing some people just can't see the bleedin' obvious. Everyone would have a choice. The atmosphere is massively effected by 'supporters' sitting. You see it at stadiums around the country all the time, particularly noticeable in the Kingsland where we sit. The noise builds just before kick-off with everyone standing or taking their seats but once the game starts most just settle down in their seats and are only stirred occasionally. For the vast majority of the match the only 'support' is coming from the persistent standers in the Northam and Itchen corners.

A little tampering improves one of those, imo maybe next year

It's got to be an English man for the England job, for me. As much as I don't like the bloke, I believe Hoddle is made for the international game. Bad points, (forgetting how he sh*t on SFC from a great height), he's proven in the past to have a screw loose and the side would probably be full of spurs players. Good points, I'd say he's tactically astute, we saw when he was down here how he'd quickly change the shape of the team mid-game if it wasn't working, and we wouldn't have to suffer his match co-commentaries any longer - we could just switch off when it came to the after-match interviews. And I also agree with those who suggest Allardyce, he has his way of dealing with over-paid-spoilt-brat-footballers, something this country needs right now. Whether there's another side to Long-Ball-Sam when he's got the best talent in the country at his disposal, he's a horses-for-courses type manager, but I would imagine even he could get that bunch performing better than the latest England failure. Whether the FA would fancy him?

Probably thinking "wonder who's coming in through the door". We haven't started spending yet, keep your powder dry for (the extremely unlikely event) we don't bring any quality in. We've got a few quid to spend once the new boss is in place, too early for the lightweights to panic just yet. -
Yeah, it was a stupid question really. I just imagine they'll be lots of boats on the water now heading this way.

Genuine question, do you think the French will be so dedicated in their efforts to stop potential illegal immigrants from crossing the border over to the UK now?
-
Is it just mind-boggling incompetence of one of the world's biggest football clubs and the security lot? Do they not sweep the stadium before a game? Were the fake bombs not counted out and then back in? How did they keep the cleaners out of those toilets? A cynic might suggest Man Utd may have benefitted from an hour or so delay, that a quickly identified hoax would have bought about, to see how their near neighbours were doing, just a bit of expensive bad luck the game was called off by the authorities.

Yep, and with a modicum of success there, the perfect stepping stone to the Barcelona job. Both manager's contracts are up next summer and as long as Ron has one more decent season with us he seems an ideal fit for Arsenal. Would love to see him stay but aint gonna happen, he needs a step up from us before going to Barca.

They're such a contradiction, one minute they (OK, it's mainly their 657 types) pretend to be all Millwall-wannabes with that scratchy mockney, the next they're banging on about how they all traditionally talk like Gypsies "Alroight", "loike", you hear it all the time down there, They're so confused. The Spinnaker design is based on a Southampton invention, the block of posh flats nearby was designed to look "loike" the QE2's funnel and "mush" is a good old Southampton phrase. They love us.

To be fair, it's only Chelsea where they refused to take the full allocation due to the fact the past 2 seasons we've been on SKY and with tickets at over £50 you can see why the club made that decision. But it's not an issue anymore and, no doubt, there won't be enough tickets available for the likes of Stamford Bridge now.

If my memory's not playing tricks, the first live game from the Dell was early 80s, a BBC Friday night game against Liverpool. Danny Wallace scored an over-the-shoulder cracker in a 2-0 win. Around the same time we were live away to Blackburn in the FA Cup, again a Friday night on the Beeb, a very good away support that witnessed another Saints victory (we were good live on the box back then!). And later on that cup run, we were on live TV away at Sheff Wed, on a Sunday this time, when (amazing to think now) around 10,000 Saints fans made the long trip to Yorkshire. Drew 0-0, won the replay 5-1.

Do Saints improve players better than other teams?
100%Red&White replied to Cumbria Saint's topic in The Saints
We're still waiting on Juanmi, "one for the future", was loved at Malaga and was breaking into the National squad but hasn't particularly "improved" significantly here. Yet. They still think very highly of him over there, there was a banner with his name at their game last weekend, can't see that happening for too many of our ex-players (left of pic top tier) -
So how much were they paying last season if they're staying away this time because of a hike in ST prices? http://www.espnfc.co.uk/lazio/story/2601214/lazio-fans-stay-away-after-season-ticket-price-hike I think someone's given you some duff information about cost of season tickets there, cheapest adult ST prices in Italy generally vary between £100-£200. Still bleedin' dirt cheap, mind!
