  1. Let's hope they don't forget their fans only paid £20 at St Mary's for the Premier League game too. But this is the scousers we're talking about. Be lucky to shift half of those tickets for Norwich.
  2. Well, it happened when little ol' Everton fleeced Man City for £50m
  3. OK, you're right, 1 or 2 others But that's probably it. That 0-3 at SMS last year still 'kin hurts, though!
  4. Yeah, that's a shame, if there was any truth in the rumours Tadic and Koeman didn't see eye-to-eye he may have had something to prove. I think the only time I've enjoyed this fixture was watching Pahars keep us up on the last day of season at the Dell with a couple in a 2-0 win! Can't say I'm particularly looking forward to Sunday.
  5. I can understand his ‘tinkering’, Premier League is always going to be priority, it’s the most important thing to the people running the football club, so with the demands of Europa and other cup football there’s going to be rotation. I can also understand playing cautious away from home in Europe, a draw away is a good result but it’s dangerous when you concede early and are weak up front. What’s harder to take is the obvious instruction to just keep possession, midfield pass after slow sideways pass but ultimately nothing at the end of it. After a poor start to the season, the introduction of Hojbjerg was a breath of fresh air, he immediately picked up the ball and looked to drive forward. He appears to have been reined back more now but we really need a player occasionally breaking from deeper and getting in the danger area. We’ve become too ponderous and predictable. What is it about this time of year and Saints?
  6. Occasionally you get someone come along who rightly deserves dog's abuse, Koeman and most others that have left in recent years don't, imo. And unless everyone's doing it, and meaning it, it's all just a bit lame really and looks a bit pathetic when it's just a bunch of high-pitched spotty adolescents contorting their face in mock outrage.
  7. Reckon you could bet your house on this bit -0 But you're right 0-0 is a very big possibility, a draw would see Sparta qualify for the knockouts and make a smoother route for us too. It would be nice to see us score away in Europe though.

  9. Today's the day the PL clubs get together and discuss this https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/nov/16/safe-seating-return-premier-league-meeting The Guardian lists each club's stance on the subject, Saints put as 'unclear' (that could be about who'll be running the club!)
  10. Can only be this or the authorities over there are a bit concerned at the prospect of ticketless fans travelling and buying in Prague for home sections. I don't think they usually sell out the ground so maybe Sparta have freed up an overspill area to put late buyers and waifs and strays into. Very late to be selling tickets now if travel arrangements would still need to be made.
  11. OK attendance on a cold night for an U21 'friendly' that was also live on TV. Surprised SFC agreed to host the fixture this season knowing the 2-game-a-week schedule the club and fans are currently coping with.
  12. Ding-a-ling
  13. We didn't sell the seats in the corners as a cost saving measure (unlike the crooks down the road, we tried to do something about the financial situation), our relegation from the Championship season saw the only time our season-average at St Mary's ever slipped under the 20,000s. Lowe returning hit attendances hard. And they really shouldn't knock our attendances in League 1, our crowds were getting on for double what they were getting in the same division.
  14. I'd say we've got almost the perfect people running us (as far as football clubs are concerned), Markus Liebherr is probably the greatest thing that will have ever happened to SFC and I believe Kat has never had anything but the right intentions to see out her father's wishes. I like it that we never had stupid money thrown at it, just what was needed to get back up through the divisions and stuck to the ideal of being a self-sustaining successful-ish club. But I would also believe part of the attraction of buying this football club in the first place was the long-term vision to develop it and the surrounding area. The wharves have been on the agenda for many years, they're a goldmine waiting to happen, and I'm sure Cortese would have put that in the package when he reported back to Markus. Those lovely images Matthew Le God posts are from NC's tenure and included redeveloped land all along the waterfront and industrial area down towards the Itchen Bridge. It wouldn't surprise me to see Cortese involved in any potential investment. I'm more than happy to see the Liebherrs continue but it looks like it will change one way or another.
  15. Was he kept awake all night with someone letting off fireworks? Park in the open West Quay car parks outside FV, Staples, etc. (but not the Toys'R'Us carpark) free after 6pm and good get away for anyone heading west after.
  16. Damn, what a fick c**t I am...oh well, easily done. There, I'm over it already.
  17. So what exactly were all you cynics right about? We did exactly the same as we have done for the past few years. And all we've done is get better and better each season since the Liebherrs took over. It's already looking reasonable business in the summer once again, we're looking a decent side with room for improvement in January. Like most years.
  18. We're set to become Shandong Luneng's feeder club! Not all bad, didn't the wife of Reading FC's Chinese owner make a lovely little song for the club's fans to sing?
  19. I wouldn't say it's 'just' acoustics but they certainly don't help. The sound just doesn't travel that well around the stadium. As many have said, if you're in the Kingsland side of the Northam you can barely hear the away fans just as most visitors leave St Mary's thinking our only vocal support comes from a small group to the left in the Itchen North - almost totally unaware our 'noisiest' support is immediately to their right. The Chapel are rarely going to join in as any chanting has generally died out before it spreads to that end and they don't seem capable of starting it themselves. They could do with a few extroverts in there to stand up and wave their arms around getting them to join in. I'd imagine some are 'singers' when we're all in together at away grounds. As for the players getting the fans going, this is our club, they'll be gone in a couple of years, it should mean far more to us. And I'd say our best support has always come in the face of adversity, it got us out of a relegation battle many times. That wasn't the players lifting the fans, that was the fans lifting the players. How it should be imo.
  20. Been said a few times before - they'll never move away fans in front of the Exec Boxes or next to the other Corps. Logistics with concourse, ticket office and access/exit gates would be problematic. Now if they ever build another tier over the Kingsland they would put in new Corporate facilities over there so all the Prawn-Sarnie-types could relocate then we might get away with pushing the aways round into the Itchen. If it was down to me I then put the TV cameras over in the Itchen (the taller Kingsland would stop problems with the sun) then the visitors wouldn't even be seen on TV. There problem solved, anyone got £40m hanging around?
  21. Safe standing would help. This has been done before but, a Bristol Rovers fan has set up a new petition and posted in the General Sports forum http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?57373-Safe-Standing&p=2415679&posted=1#post2415679 Direct link to his petition if anyone interested https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/169323
  22. Been done a few times before but seems to be gaining a bit more momentum these days so anything to help Link should work here https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/169323
  23. Well, that just says we're mostly not very good 'supporters', reasonable attendances but more 'spectators'. Support from Northam/Kingsland end of the ground was lively first 10-15 minutes yesterday, but that early goal just shows how fragile the home support is. The other end of the ground just come across as a bit shy and polite. Renaming the 'Chapel' may be a start. Our 'support' certainly didn't help matters yesterday, a lot of our players have come from the continent where support is far more fervent these days, they must scratch their heads at the lack of encouragement from the stands.
  24. It was sold out over a week ago, as reported on the OS as well as on here. There's since a few more been made available, sounds like comps that haven't been taken up and a few restricted view seats not previously put on sale, there must be a healthy demand. Don't know how many they had but if Inter send any back that may release a few more.
  25. You're right they don't. That's why I'd expect it to be almost all UK based fans, they must have a very big fan club in London, that's before considering all the Italian waiters that could show up!
