Cafés around the marais are good also try the montparnasse tower less queues and spectacular views good at night. Much better than going up the eiffel. Good bars in oberkampf.

travel on train nearly every day to various places across the region ive noticed there are two things that delay trains infrastructure (signals, track, train faults etc) and the other is passengers whom i find the more often responsible yesterday i watched about hundred people all bundle and shove each other to get on train through two doors for the life of me i couldnt work out what was wrong with the other 22 available . train arrived on time yet left over a minute late i heard one chap bemoan ""i bet i miss my connection now"" which made me think why didnt you use another ****ing door ?

rather than go up the eifel tower try the montparnasse tower shorter queues , lift goes at warp speed to viewing gallery restaurant etc and after a few stairs you get to stand outside on top of what was the tallest building in europe (when iwas there last) the view is great and you get the eifel tower in you photos of the paris skyline http://www.tourmontparnasse56.com/en/

a lot of cities are kind of grouped together so id pick best flight pick up a car and travel about explore and just get lost bologna up to venice take in padua ferrara parma vicenza or ravenna all really nice milan brescia bergamo turin all real close to each other Tuscany with pisa sienna florence lucca rome is a bit on its own but by far my favourite city
-
Naples is a dump utter ****hole, never ever go there ....ever all the usual suspects are good Rome Venice Florence Sienna Lucca Pisa etc but will carry the usual tourist premiums Turin is underated Milan nice shops, Bologna and Verona are both good but can get edgy Genoa so/so Lecce and Bari are nice but a long way from anywhere else Sicily is beautiful although Catania is a dump Palermo is a rough diamond
