Good thread. It's interesting this season as we're in the unusual position where the teams likely getting promoted from league one are far stronger then the teams that will likely be relegated from the championship.
-
They didn't release him they extended his loan until the end of the season.

Be interesting to see what happens with Waigo, Antonio and Otsemebor in the summer. Haven't quite made up my mind whether I want to see them stay or not. I think Antonio is worth keeping hold of, especially since he'll be on a free, but I'm still unconvinced by Waigo and Semi.

Are we as fans now obsessed with Pompey..?

I think you have a point - it does my head in how many Pompey songs we sing compared to songs about our own players -
Red and White Barney Army! Brilliant performance, great to see Barnard score.

Would you sign Papa Waigo N'Diaye on a permanent basis?

+1 Good post, I'm still undecided myself, he's been hot and cold this season. -
That's the team for me :smt023

Done by a 'local vandal' according to the Royal Mail. I don't know what they're moaning about, looks like an improvment to me!
-
Bear in mind that the type of fans that travel to away games looking for trouble are usually more interested in fighting then football.
-
It's my understanding that we would take their place in the next round.

I hate MK Dons, worst fans in English football. Their attendance at the first leg was embarrassing, they don't deserve any success.

This is the actual 1885 kit that next years is said to mimic:

The OS now has a survey up asking for your thoughts about moving the away fans. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1953130,00.html

You've just summed up exactly what I've been thinking these last couple of days! The fans that expect new players to walk into an unfamiliar team and instantly set the world alight clearly have never kicked a football in their life and just don't understand how it really works. I don't expect that Pardew's new team will start showing their best until early next season. We should be grateful for all the top new signings we've got this month and start looking forward to a bright future!
-
Am I right in saying that now Pompey have failed to pay the wages again this month that the players can give 14 days notice then move onto a new club for free?
-
Get Dann's signature all wrapped up and i'll be more than happy with this months business!
-
I've never bought the Echo in my life, so all politics aside, this is an easy one for me to put my name too

Got a lot of love for Southend fans, looking forward to the last game of the season!
-
Southend won't budge on the 250k quoted. They know full well either us or Leeds will pay it. We might as well stop fannying about and offer the full amount to tie the deal up. It's hardly like he's been overvalued!

Back on topic, a **** at half-time is a bit of a ritual for me. I'm also fearful of coming out with statements that may jinx a game i.e. "Our defence looks solid today" or "This'll be a good three points" I actually know some people who have gone through spells of not going to games as they feel that Saints only play badly when they go!
-
If we could potentially get Barnard for just 200k why waste our time looking at a 31 year old fairly average striker? I just think we're past the point of buying 'stop-gaps' and might as well look to buy players that are either going to able to stay with us for the long term or at least have a profitable resell value. I mean look at Lambert, some people said a million is a lot to spend on a League One player but just a few months down the line and already he would pull in at least 500k profit were we to sell. That's good business sense.

How reliable's your source?

I thought he was doing the Waigo celebration! On a side note, do away goals count in the JPT? No-one I've spoken to seems to know.
-
I had to re-read that a couple of times, for a minute there I thought you were marrying your cousin!

I noticed that on one of the Southend fan-sites they are encouraging people to rig the Daily Echo poll and vote for Lisbie over Barnard as the player Saints fans would prefer to sign. I think it's gonna take more than a local paper poll to keep hold of him!
