  1. I understand the fact we need to rotate with the number of games we have this season. When you rotate it's always going to propel some players into contention to start, and some will end up forcing themselves out the door as they don't perform. Austin is a fine example of the first, the games v Sparta really helped boost him and he's not looked back since. Unfortunately, players like Jrod seem to be the latter. I feel sorry for the bloke, nasty injury at a time when he was playing his best football. He's so far off the pace and lacking confidence it's unreal. I don't even think a loan deal will help him, I think we just need to cut our losses and get him off the wage bill sooner rather than later. Midfield was decent, VVD cost us (again) but overall we looked fairly solid. It's the final third that's the problem. I'd like to see Olumola (sp?) given a run out from the bench on Wednesday to see what he can offer, as it can't be any less than what Long and Jrod currently do.
  2. This. He had nothing to do defensively. He did look very good going forward, very confident and delivered some great balls in which is expected from a converted winger. He certainly looks a little better going forward than Targett, but let's wait until he's had a proper test defensively first.
  3. I'm on about League 1, not the Championship (which was won by Reading, not Brighton)...
  4. how the **** we didn't **** that league is beyond me. Regardless of where we were when NA joined, not winning the league that year was a travesty.
  5. judging by the shocking chants at present, it'll probably end up just being "ooh Sofiane Boufal" to the tune of the old Gaston song. Or we'll end up copying some other clubs song then follow it up with "we are Southampton, we sing our own songs":mcinnes:
  6. Very strange and poor decision to give him such a long contract!
  7. not with our fuking defence it won't!
  8. What's been our excuse since February?
  9. Until we learn how to defend we'll keep going backwards
  10. Let's have a bit of a reality check here: 1) I would expect all of our players to be interested in a move should MUFC come knocking. They'e the biggest club in the country and one of the top 4 in Europe, if not the world, we aren't anywhere near them in stature. 2) It's hardly like JF has used the club as a stepping stone. He dropped a league to join us, won a trophy, successive promotions, helped establish us as a solid top half PL Side, captained us and has nearly 250 appearances for the club in 6 years. He can hardly be described as being disloyal.
  11. Pardew did the most for us post-Liebherr. Steadied the ship, signed Lallana and Morgan to long-term deals which helped the club, bought in the spine of the team (Fonte, Lambert etc) and built the squad that Adkins then took up. I think, without someone as strong as Pardew in charge, we would have had to wait a LOT longer to be back in the PL than we did.
  12. No clean sheet in 15 games is fine is it???
  13. People focussing on the lack of goals, we need to sort the defence out. Relegation form.
  14. No clean sheet in 15 and we've decided to offer all of our first-choice back 5 new contracts. Really!?
  15. Correct, 14 games. Targett is playing which means we're basically playing with 3 at the back.
  16. Clean sheet would be nice...we're due one!
  17. what page in this thread will we be on when he signs? I'm going for 11
  18. Sack everyone. Let's spend £40m tomorrow
  19. What was his excuse the first year?
  20. Man C Chelsea Man U Spurs Us: 10th Bompey Burnely Hull FAC: Man C League Cup: Chelsea
  21. Decent enough signing, an upgrade on Gazza and Stek. On a side note, extremely sad for someone to stalk potential new signing's activities on social media - get a life. Have you not got Pokemon to catch or something?
  22. Apart from when hodgson took over...
  23. I'd get rid of him, very very limited as can't even control the ball with his left foot. Very limited on the ball and not a world-beater in the air. I'd imagine he's on about £20k a week too. Horrific injury record. Simply isn't worth the money.
  24. Gaston's agent wants bloody knighting. How the hell has he convinced Boro to pay him £70k a week after just 4 good months of football in England in 4 years (in the championship).
  25. I broke the Stekelenberg signing last season....possibly the greatest signing in the club's history. I thank you.
