****ING APPALLING!!!! Anyone who genuinely thinks we have a chance of staying up is about as deluded as they come. Comical defending yet again, offering nothing going forwards again and another appalling performance. Ralph, and this squad, aren't anywhere near as good as most people think.

stream anyone?

Cardiff had their paperwork in check with the insurers, but the insurer will, obviously, want to do their own investigations into this. Still, that's a matte between CC and their Insurers, not Nantes who are rightly owed their money.
-
I think the sad confirmation of Sala's body being found may give Cardiff an extra boost. There's no way we're winning this game, sadly.

this what you are looking for: https://www.insuranceinsider.com/articles/124285/lloyds-insures-missing-cardiff-city-footballer-for-16mn As the policy will cover "Accidental Death" I think this will cover the flight, even if there are certain questions surrounding the legality of those involved. Still set to lose an awful amount of money and, by the sounds of it, they aren't exactly being the easiest people to deal with! Most clubs I know (and deal/dealt with) don't bother having a policy in place such as Cardiff do/did for Sala's fee, even those in the PL who regularly spend far more than this amount on players! I suggest this approach may well change now...

Genuinely think Cardiff will stay up, they are one of the worst 3 teams in the league on paper, but this whole Sala tragedy seems to have really given them a boost. Can't see us winning this at all, it's exactly the type of game for us to throw away points by being too complacent.

Record points lost from winning positions?

Let's not also forget the 2 goal leads we let slip against Derby in the FA Cup... -
Jordan Rhodes and Dave Nugent will be decent players to start with, should get us enough goals for mid-table Championship
-
another pathetic attempt to hold on to a lead. We're going down.
-
Look completely different side without Ings and not in a good way. JWP ineffective out on the right, Slattery looks tidy but should have been booked and we were lucky not to give away a pen. Really haven't created anything for about 20 mins - all set up for a 1-0 Burnley win. We aren't as good as some people think we are!!
-
absolute sitter. Ings has got to score that. We'll get punished for that. Shocking

stream anyone?

Huddersfield are gone I think. Cardiff don't look like doing much. Then one of Us, Fulham, Burnley, Palace or Newcastle. Although we aren't the worst of that lot, I think we'll slip in there.
-
No idea which way this will go but just have a bad feeling about it for some reason. A win would be great, to be honest, a draw really wouldn't be the end of the world as we'd then be 4 points clear of the dropzone with a far superior goal difference. Sadly, can't see us doing it bit would love to be proved wrong. COYR!!

Can't we just give them Austin and blame the weather disrupting the phone signal for the misunderstanding?

The only manager we are currently paying off is Hughes. As others have said, we'll still be paying for players like Hoedt/Boufal/Carillo for a while as the payments aren't usually done in one go. If you think we may be covering some of their wages whilst on loan, as well as paying most (if not all) of Ings' wages and we have people like Forster on a huge wage you can see why we have no money. Football contracts are a dangerous game, you don't want to give a player a too long contract and then have to be stuck with them for the duration if this doesn't work out, or you don't want to give a player a short-term deal and they turn in to a star and you have to sell under-priced or possibly lose them for nothing. I think we've been too reactive with players and offering them new deals too quickly and a serious summer clearout is needed. Let's hope Hoedt players ok for Celta and they buy him.

As I stated earlier in the thread, Cardiff will have to pay Nantes as the transfer was completed. Cardiff may have arranged Insurance on him but a lot of clubs only cover the cost of paying up the contract if something happens to the player (e.g. injured and cannot play again). I very much doubt they have an insurance policy in place to cover their transfer fee (although it probably wasn't paid in one lump sum) so they may well have to take the hit.
-
As the transfer of the player went through, Nantes will be owed the money by Cardiff. In terms of CC getting their money back or what happens with them, there is some form of permanent total disablement inc. accidental death cover provided through the Football League which will give them a payment, but unless they took out a particular Key Person insurance (which not many clubs do) they may not be able to recover much of that back. The Key Person insurance wouldn't cover the cost of the transfer they've just agreed to pay. Thoughts go out to Sala and the Pilot's friends and family.

We've also gone 2-0 up in our last 4 games (only winning twice)

Didn't get to see the Man City game so last night was my first view of him. Thought he looked relatively solid without flattering, but a few moments to forget. not sure he's one for the first team yet but he definitely has enough about him to be in our plans for the future. Leave him in the U23's for the season and send him on loan next year, it did Stephens wonders. Look after this kid and we've got a decent player, but not one who can offer much more at present.

Saints vs Derby - FA Cup 3rd Round Replay Thread
supersonic replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
Don't think Sims can play as he wasn't eligible to play for us in the first leg. -
I know for a fact we were the only ones with the option to cut short his loan deal. RFC weren't too disappointed with the decision, however.
-
Anyone know when the replay is likely to be? Obvious choice is Tuesday 15th or Wednesday 16th.
-
It was a season-long loan with us having a recall option in Jan which we've exercised. We made a request that he didn't play against Swansea or Man Utd (no idea why he wasn't recalled before that) but he didn't travel to OT at the weekend. We weren't too happy with his lack of playing time and the new manager at RFC wanted his own players plus they're trying to get the wage bill down (they were paying 50% of his wages). He comes back and will get a go in the first team so makes sense for all parties involved. Welcome back, Josh.

Not sure how true it is, but rumours are he was out of contract in the summer anyway. They really are a **** poor example of how to run a sustainable football club with development at its core
