I agree with what your saying, if Lambert doesn't win the ball in the air then we our unable to create meaningful attacks. I think a lot of the time we over rely on crosses from deep aimed at Lambert's head instead of getting it on the ground and passing it round them.

FM 2010 hints, tips, cheats & gems of players / tactics

Screwed up my first season as saints losing last 3 games to miss out on playoffs but signed Febian Brandy from Man Utd reserves on a free and he won the league by himself. 44 goals in 55 appearences. Beat the skates 1st game 2-1 Brandy and Lambert combined of the new season in the championship and sat 6th after 15 games. My biggest signing however has to be David Beckham! Signed him on a free after his contract with Zaragoza (probs spelt wrong) ran out! 6 goals and 7 assists in 15 games from right side of midfield -
Someone is finally talking sense in here!!

Have you played upfront mate?, I scored half my goals from crosses and free kicks hit from deep last year. He put pace on the cross it just doesnt help when none of the strikers attack it, if Lambert played at the standard he has been this season he could have had a hat full.

To be honest performances in the cup im happy to get through!! Arsenal proved in the community shield to win haha
-
it would also mean that their was a bit of "quality" on the bench
-
**** me next thing you'll want him sacked im confident we can bounce back with a good performance against norwich and then you'll think the sun shines out his arse over reaction or what??? ahaha
-
haha thats so true hammond got caught out so much
-
hes quicker than the rest of our defence with the exception of possibly harding, but hey we have murty to come back his blistering pace will mean no wingers can outpace us on the right!
-
u have to push forward if you want to score he was trying to do the job that our wingers should be doin
-
totally disagree with you, james was the only positive today hit some good crosses and looked comfortable on the ball, papa waigo should have scored he doesn't have any composure in front of goal. lambert had a mediocre game today
-
Davis - good saves from him, expect he wudda liked a better performance last game as captain Harding - out of position for 1st goal earned a couple of free kicks but not good enough Jaidi - couldnt win a header against strikers half his size, looked like he didnt want to be there Trotman - didnt do anything Thomas - actually won a few couple of headers but him running forward and watching him pass his way out of defence was very worrying James - best player on the day looked comfortable on the ball hit some good crosses just no one upfront was attacking them Schneiderlin - forgot he was even playing today Hammond - missed from 12 yards and that was really the end of the game for us Lallana - used the ball well...sometimes, just a shade of the player he truly is. games like that are ones he needs to step up and deliver Antonio - really troubled their left back just no end product, his thrown ins troubled their defence but they should have been aimed at lambert instead of connolly Papa Waigo - wasnt on for long enough, should have scored though he just doesn't have composure infront of goal Lambert - well taken penalty but apart from that didnt really impact the game, probably because we couldn't string more than a couple of passes together Connolly - worked hard and chased, didnt have a chance to score tho Mills - wasnt on long enough to make an impact it was a sloppy 1st 25 mins that lost us the game, fair play to brighton they were the quickest out the gates today and deserved it, however our bad performance did help them!

on the wet side loving it wen trollope got ****ed off cos we made a sub wen the 4th official wasnt ready haha
-
crackin signing 4 torquay!!
-
i know nothing about the lad, is he a good enough player to be moving up the leagues with us??
-
cudnt agree more!
-
as long as we win after the journey i'll be happy but am goin saints 3-1 win again
-
couldnt agree more his performances are getting stronger by the game, possibly work on the finishing tho!!!
-
lallana has really showed the potential he has in the last three games, i think rickie lambert and lallana will be a formidable partnership upfront for us and i wouldn't be supprised if the majority of lallanas goals came from lambert flick ons. great performance from the rest of the team papa waigo is getting better every game should've really scored today but at 3-1 you can let him off as long as he finishes chances wen needed to trotman and jaidi have a good partnership going on at the centre of our defence and would be great if we could sign trotters permanently in jan or at least extend the loan till the end of the season. Michail Antonio from reading showed promising signs as well in the later stages of the game getting soaked in the rain and 3 hour train journeys are made worthwhile when your team takes three points from home convincingly COYR!!!

Saints 2-2 (5-3 on pens) Torquay - Match Reaction
joffystevens replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
couldn't agree more -
lallana has been playin well recently, he cannot be played as a box 2 box midfielder because he doesnt have the work rate needed, he plays best when he has lambert winning the ball for him in the air and playing it to his feet and allowing him to run at players and cause havoc in the opposition's half. he showed on sat against gillingham that he can finish wen the defenders are not tight on him, i believe he will have a good season. however we also need quality on the wings, papa waigo showed glimpses of what he is possibly capable of im just not sure that the likes of mills can do the same on the left.

lambert was awesome lallana played really well off him and finished well. bit worrying to see lloyd james getting turned inside out by their winger, and see how without lambert and lallana on the pitch for the last 10 mins we didnt look like we were goin to score. with those 2 in goal scoring form going to southend cant see us not coming home without 3 points!!
