The Departed

God I ****ing hate footballers. They need to try living in the real world.
-
I actually thought he spoke pretty well. He couldn't have been more emphatic in saying Jay and Morgan WILL stay, and it seems there will be players incoming very soon. Would love to believe him, only time will tell. I'm angry at what has happened like most are, but I think some just want to criticise for the sake of it.
-
So how many of you are really washing your hands of saints?
LuckyNumber7 replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
I buy my season ticket to go and SUPPORT my team, through thick and thin. Obviously I want us to have quality players but I will support whoever pulls on the red and white stripes. It will actually be a relief to get back to watching games rather than reading about one departure after another on here. I am still gutted about what is happening though. -
Just feel drained by this summer now. Gutted.
-
If only Cortese was still here, United wouldn't stand a chance.
-
So you think if we told Lallana, Lovren etc they had to stay after seeing their mates move to top clubs they would be fine with that and not kick up a huge fuss? As good as these players are, if they don't want to be here then it's counter productive to keep them and have a poisonous atmosphere develop in the squad.
-
Thing is it could only go one of two ways this summer. Either we held onto all our top players, or they all left. As soon as the first goes it creates a domino effect and the rest were always going to follow. Lovren is all but gone and I would be amazed if we kept Morgan. I don't like it any more than you, but I accept football has a food chain and once the top clubs come knocking on the door we had no realistic chance of keeping our best players. Sadly that's how football works and I think some are being very naive in thinking otherwise. I'll reserve judgement on the board until September 1st when we see exactly how we have replaced the outgoing players.
-
Of course I realise not all are slagging him off just for leaving, but some are (Jackanory for example). And yes imo Lovren's comments are worse, the worst thing Adam said was some guff about dreaming of playing for Liverpool, I don't recall him slagging the club off in public whilst still an SFC employee.
-
Ridiculous over reaction from some. If you can't understand that he moved to better his career whilst at his peak then there's no hope for some. I'm sure 99% of us would do the same. Sure he said one or two things that were ill-advised upon leaving, but do people truly believe he meant them? I take most things said by footballers with a pinch of salt and to me they were just cheap sound bites aimed at his new fanbase. I'd far rather remember him for the many good things he did for us and the loyalty he showed in the lower leagues. Save your bile for Lovren, whose comments are far more deserving of it imo.
-
Absolutely this.
-
The players are leaving because they want to play Champions League football and be challenging for titles, something they cannot realistically achieve at Saints. Yes it's sad and it hurts, but unfortunately that's how things work in football. The board are doing their best in very difficult circumstances and while I'm hugely disappointed myself, I at least have confidence in them and Koeman to get good fees and reinvest in the team as best as possible. At least wait and see who we bring in.

[Daily Mail] Saints make formal enquiry to sign Danny Ings
LuckyNumber7 replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Lambert coming to the end of his career. Ings is 21 and was the Championship Player of the Year last season, a bit better than 'okay'. For £8M he would be a sound investment imo. -
Has been over hyped imo. A decent, tidy player but certainly doesn't look like a star in the making...yet. However, he's still only 19, with plenty of time on his side to develop and I would love to be proved wrong. Hopefully Koeman can take his game to the next level.

I don't believe in god and hate the royal family, I wouldn't sing it either. As said it's not even an English song ffs. Not singing that terrible dirge is in no way representative of a lack of passion or desire to win. Needs changing.

I'm in Miami and was at the game, although it's just a friendly I thought England were very poor. Adam was ok first half but faded a bit second. No one really played well but Welbeck and Johnson were particularly poor. As for the delay, although frustrating there was some pretty close lightning overhead at times so understandable. Nice to meet several other Saints fans here too!
-
What a bellend.
-
These Hummel kits are absolutely hideous.
-
Very nice kit, shame it's fake.

So many high points it's impossible to choose, but the one that sticks most in the mind is the late comeback at Brighton, that's when I knew we were going up. Low point was Adkins' sacking, obviously everything has worked out well since but I really fell out of love with Saints and football in general for a while after that. Closely followed by the 2-2 against P*mpey which was a real kick in the gonads. On the whole though it's been an incredible 5 years, and we need to realise how lucky we actually are and enjoy it while it lasts. Hopefully we can push on again over the summer, rather than see everything dismantled which would be a real shame.

Am i the only one who thinks the club badge is naff?
LuckyNumber7 replied to OldNick's topic in The Saints
Love our badge, it's completely unique and it's components represent the city and surrounding area. It's a little bit quirky and different, but I think that suits the club well! Keep it please. -
I understand that, it's the fact people are still going on about it weeks later that I find a bit sad, especially after a win.
-
I cannot believe some are still banging on about this game. How about giving credit to Sunderland, who despite making a lot more changes than us actually played pretty well and fully deserved to win. The arrogance of some thinking we should have walked our way to Wembley is cringeworthy. We lost a 5th round cup game, it happens, move on!
-
Yes but would have been opened if demand was there. Point is a lot of fans don't seem to care much about the cups either.
-
Personally not too bothered we lost, but all these people slagging off the club for 'disrespecting' the cups make me laugh. If everyone cares so much about the cups, where were they for the Burnley and Yeovil games where the ground was half empty?
