  1. Yeah annoys the hell out of me, every time I watch a PL game now it seems like OWTS is being sung. Just comes across as a bit tinpot imo.
  2. Please let this be true, would be big lols!
  3. Merry Christmas to all my fellow Saints fans from, erm...Southampton. Which last time I checked was not in Shropshire.
  4. He's not nearly as bad as some on here like to make out. I'd take him if the price was right.
  5. Enjoyed making a bit of noise in the last 15 minutes once all the part timers had buggered off, was more like the atmospheres we got in L1 again. Would much rather have 20,000 in the stadium creating an atmosphere than 30,000 cardboard cutouts and less noise than a library.
  6. The atmosphere at St Marys these days is pretty depressing, it' getting to the point where I don't even want to go anymore as being part of a lively atmosphere is half the fun for me. It's gradually got worse and worse over the last couple of years, sadly fan culture not just at Saints but generally in English football has all but disappeared. Where I am in Kingsland North used to be really good, but a lot of the time I'm the only one singing now. Something needs to be done but I don't know what.
  7. It's one of the many things that depresses me about English football fans. Of course a few people will have genuine reasons for leaving early but the sheer amount of people who do is just pathetic. If you really can't be arsed to stay and support the team for the full match then why bother coming at all? It disturbs everyone who is still trying to watch the game, and it absolutely kills any atmosphere at the time in the game when the team will often need it most. 30,000 roaring the side on or half the ground emptying in apathetic silence? It has to have an effect on the players. Well done Klopp for calling out the Scouse fans.
  8. Good professional performance. Only four goals conceded and unbeaten away from home. Virgil was a rock again, what a signing.
  9. Personally I'm delighted with the draw as it's exactly what I was hoping for. I'm not a big fan of the League Cup but this has got me right up for it, a QF at home to the dirty scousers, defectors and all, under the floodlights, hopefully get a good atmosphere at SMS for a change, bring it on! We have a good chance of winning.
  10. So Saints then. It's hardly surprising the atmosphere at SMS these days is so awful seeing as everyone is seemingly too embarrassed to sing anything that gets suggested, or make some bloody noise. Sadly can't see it changing any time soon.
  11. Very sad for Luke, hope he makes a speedy recovery.
  12. That was fantastic. Some great memories, what an absolutely top bloke Nigel is, would love to see him back at Saints one day. Well done the media team.
  13. People can mock Leicester fans all they want, but I went to the away game there last season and their support was brilliant. The stadium was (literally) rocking with all four stands making noise, they kept it up for the full 90 minutes and they had some good songs as well. It really put the atmosphere at SMS to shame. I only make about two or three aways a season but I can't remember the last good atmosphere I had at an away game, possibly Coventry in League 1. I definitely agree our vocal support has badly declined the last few years both home and away. Think one of the main reasons is just the lack of songs we now have. As has been mentioned most of our songs are about players, and we have seen a big overhaul of the squad over the last year so many of the songs have become redundant. We really need some new ones. Don't think it helps that the one good song we do have that is truly ours seems to have been nicked by every other club in the league.
  14. That was so so depressing. I don't even recognise that Saints team with the way we played. Gutted.
  15. Ok need to get it going at SMS then as I've not heard it sung from where I am in Kingsland North.
  16. That would sound really good if we could get this to catch on. I've also never heard it sung by Villa or anyone else.
  17. Ronaldo wore no. 99 at AC Milan There are also several examples of clubs 'retiring' shirt numbers. Milan have done it with Franco Baresi and Paolo Maldini's numbers, West Ham have retired Bobby Moore's number 6 shirt etc.
  18. What an utter bellend. Needs to lay off the coke.
  19. Signed for Spurs on Sunday?
  20. Sad that he's gone, end of an era but if anyone has earned this move it's him. He's given us seven fantastic years, been part of an amazing journey, and apart from a little wobble last summer has acted very professionally even when it was clear he wanted to move on. On top of that we've made a huge profit on him so no complaints from me. That's also a very classy goodbye message. Hope he wins the title next season. For Saints it's time to move on, Clasie will be a good addition and it will be interesting to see how we use the rest of the money. Merci, Morgan

This forum is so full of whingy, whiny, clueless, spoiled brats. We are Southampton not Man United or Chelsea ffs. I would love it if we sign Toby but if we don't I won't be throwing all my toys out the pram. Do people seriously believe the club aren't doing all they can within their means to make it happen?

If this is all true then it is Atleti who are in the wrong and not Saints, so I find it baffling that some of our own supposed fans are being critical of the club and saying we should spend millions that seemingly we shouldn't have to legally. A very messy affair though and you have to feel a bit for Toby who will want to know where his future lies.
  23. I agree with this, our model seems to be based more on signing younger players from lesser leagues who have room to develop and we then sell for a profit, Cabaye really doesn't seem like a Saints signing. Presumably would be pretty expensive both in fee and wages, with as you say little resale value. Would certainly prefer Clasie myself.
  24. Wish him all the best, a better fit for him than Reading was. Hope he does for them what he did for us.
