  1. If ever a game had 0-0 written all over it, it's this one. So will probably finish 3-3.
  2. Best of luck to Josh Sims, bit of a shock that!
  3. I'm in two minds tbh. I don't like the way he left and how he blatantly lied, but I can understand his reasons to an extent. He gave us two great years but was never going to be here long term. I'll probably just ignore him.
  4. Who are we as humans to decide what needs culling and what doesn't, when we are the biggest pest of all? Personally I'd like to see all hunters put in an arena with the lions/bears etc they are hunting, without their weapons, and see how much they enjoy it then.
  5. Nail on head.
  6. We shouldn't go anywhere near Berahino after the way he's conducted himself the last year or so. I can see his career just drifting into oblivion tbh unless he sorts himself out quickly. WBA were mad to refuse the offers they did.
  7. The atmosphere was depressingly crap yesterday. I used to think we had one of the best home support in the country but it has really gone downhill, and now I find myself envying the likes of Palace and Leicester who make a good racket at home. I do think it would help if we had the whole of the Northam, but we also desperately need some new, decent songs. Agree the away support has also been poor, probably because the visiting sides so far just haven't brought enough to make much noise.
  8. Yep, in the Kingsland North it was much clearer than usual, although she still sounded muffled when she was interviewing her dad at HT. But for the first time in years I could actually hear what the substitutions were!
  9. I'm off to America in a few weeks and no doubt my pounds to dollars won't go as far as they have done in the past. Having to pay a few more dollars for things while on holiday doesn't for a second make me regret voting to leave, it is so insignificant. The far bigger picture is we took the last chance we had to free ourselves from the shackles of a corrupt, undemocratic and power hungry organisation, and become a sovereign nation again that governs it's own laws, controls how many immigrants we allow in, and decides where we spend OUR money, rather than having it dictated to us. That is priceless.
  10. What a difference it makes having an actual goalscorer playing up front! Hopefully Puel will see this now and end this crazy Redmond experiment but I won't hold my breath. Best performance of the season but it has to be said Swansea are very poor.
  11. Yes, McCarthy was at Wycombe last season and they liked him a lot, I think he was awarded their Player of the Season.
  12. Bring in Fonte and Bertrand and keep Cuco in. Just please no Redmond up front, any combination of Long, Austin and JRod in attack and I'll be happy.
  13. Really don't get posts like this, it doesn't matter a jot what division the Skates are in, they are still our hated rivals and I will never tire of mocking them. Rivalry is a big part of football ffs. As for the other chants, I'm in Kingsland North and there were several 'One Markus Liebherr' chants and at one point 'who the f is RK', but no-one was singing One RK at that end of the ground. Maybe it was the Chapel!
  14. I agree. I saw yesterday he's scored something like 1 goal in his last 27 or so PL games, if we signed a foreign striker with that record this board would go into meltdown. Over rated and a bad apple.
  15. Despite a big improvement in the second half that performance has left me rather worried. That system just does not suit us at all, we had no overlapping width, no real focal point in attack and nowhere near enough off the ball movement, we were far too static most of the time. VVD and Tadic were excellent, Redmond was ok and Hojbjerg is class, can't understand why he didn't start. The rest were pretty poor though. Very early days but far from encouraging and United will spank us on Friday if we play like that.
  16. I had those exact same thoughts watching the game last night. Looks a real talent.
  17. This notion that a big name manager will mean players will want to stay is a red herring imo, Koeman was a very big name but that didn't prevent a mass exodus over two summers. Players will go where the money/prestige is regardless of who is our manager.
  18. I find it hard to believe that Pellegrini is in the running, he is too old and on the downward curve of his career, and as said above doesn't look in the best of health. Not too impressed either with the job he did at Man City considering the resources at his disposal, and I just can't get it out of my head how utterly disinterested they looked at SMS last season. VP would seem like a strange appointment but I admit I know zilch about him. Of the three I quite like the sound of Puel although there seems to be a lot of contradictions about his style of play. So I would be happy with him although wouldn't surprise me at all if it's someone not on this list.
  19. Oh well, he's been a good signing for us and is very good at what he does, but also rather limited. When he's really on it he is immense, but he is too inconsistent and his attitude is questionable. Think a lot of fans never forgave him for his tantrum before the Midtjelland game. Also a bit surprised he's gone to Spurs as I don't think he suite their style of play. They have a young vibrant team and Vic is quite slow and immobile. Will be interesting to see how he fits in there. It's a blow to lose him but as we showed on occasions when he was suspended last season, we'll be fine.
  20. Pretty underwhelming if true. We seem to have been linked with him for ages but despite the potential he seems to have actually done very little and has never particularly impressed when I've watched him. He even struggled to get in the Norwich team last season. If he's cheap then maybe worth the gamble but I'd have thought we could do better.
  21. Thanks for the memories Ronald, genuinely grateful for two excellent seasons. However you have gone way down in my estimation for your outright lies and seemingly acting like a bit of a c**t. My main feeling is one of disappointment as I really thought he was a man of integrity, turns out he's just another greedy, classless mercenary. He'll do ok at Everton and improve them, but they won't be winning the league any time soon. Our next appointment is huge but I trust Les and co to get it right, and am still excited for the future. Moving on!
  22. Like I said, in my time watching football you have won the same as that footballing giant, Wigan, so why would I view you on a par with the likes of Man Utd and Arsenal? I also didn't realise being shown on TV a lot makes you a big club. My bad.
  23. I am 32 and can just about remember Everton winning the FA Cup in 1995. Apart from that, my whole football supporting life they have generally been a mid-table team, with some occasional forays into the top six and equally some near misses with relegation. Yes they are a bigger club than Saints, don't think any on here would deny that, but I certainly never viewed them as a significant entity in the PL like the top clubs. Of course if they start chucking huge sums of money around that may change. They could turn into the next plastic moneybags Man City (unlikely imo), or it could all go tits up ala Leeds and the skates. Neither scenario is dignified. Give me our model of sustainable, self sufficient growth any day.
  24. I'm disappointed more than anything in Koeman's actions as I naively thought he was a man of his word and would at least see out his contract. But I thank him for giving us two excellent years, and although I can't wish him well I don't hate him either and hope he doesn't get too much of a bumpy reception on his return. If he wasn't going to stay beyond next summer anyway then a parting of the ways now is best for all concerned, with the bonus for Saints of a tidy little compensation package to boot. Tbh I am not as devastated as I was when Adkins or Poch left, maybe that says something or maybe I am just used to regular change, and recognise that this great club of ours is on an upward trajectory regardless of who the manager is!
  25. Voted for Emery although I don't think it's realistic, but take him and de Boer off that list and it's a pretty underwhelming one. My hunch is that our new manager won't be any of the names on that list. Perhaps someone like Murat Yakin who was quite heavily linked before Ron got the job? I don't get the clamour for AVB. Must admit I was surprised to read he had a record points haul at Spurs but I think a large part of that was down to having Bale, plus IIRC they actually finished fourth under Redkrapp before AVB took over. He was hated by Chelsea fans and not much more popular among Spurs fans, and my over-riding memories are of him looking like a rabbit caught in the headlights, and also a pretty dull style of play. I'd much rather gamble on Howe than AVB.
