  1. Not the 80's, more like around '94 I think. I was only young but remember us being 2-0 up at half time, but went on to lose 2-6 after extra time. Think Ronny Rosenthal scored 4. Can't forget it, as much as I'd like to.
  2. Keep Gabbi. And actually frickin play him.
  3. Unfortunately on the pitch he has been poor for quite a while now. However as a character he comes across as one of the most likeable in the squad and certainly seems to have a good attitude. I hope he can rediscover the form he showed a couple of years ago.
  4. I've always held the opinion that McQueen is the better of the two. We should have taken the money for Targett in the summer and kept McQueen as backup for Bertrand. Targett will never be more than a Championship standard player imo.
  5. Thanks Sparky for your efforts in keeping us up, regardless of whether Swansea imploded. Especially liked how he dealt with the shenanigans at Swansea before the game. Really wanted it to work out for him here but unfortunately he had to go, no home wins at this stage is unacceptable and he was unable to sort out the defence. Shame really as I do feel performances were starting to improve the last few weeks, but too little too late. That said the players have to take their share of the blame, and whoever the new guy is has a very tough job on his hands. Good luck Kelvin for Wednesday.
  6. His final ball yesterday was shocking, rarely managed to find a red and white shirt. He has improved this season but is still basically just a headless chicken. Probably be alright in the Championship next season.
  7. Gabbi on the bench again. Just f*ck off Hughes. On the plus side great to see Valery start.
  8. Plenty of candidates, there's very few I'd be sorry to see the back of. But as a player I really dislike Redmond. Never seems to know what to do in the ball, slows the play down and virtually zero end product, yet has somehow managed to consistently get picked by three consecutive managers. Argumentative attitude on the pitch as well. To be fair to him he has improved slightly this season albeit starting from a very low base. Never have I felt so disengaged from the bunch of players representing Saints.
  9. Whatever people say about Austin, you certainly can't accuse him of not caring! Gutting to be denied a home win yet again but after a good first half performance we sat back too much in the second and barely created anything. Gabbi motm, him and Yoshi showing why they should have been starting every week, it's utterly baffling how they have been continually frozen out. Thought Hoedt had a very good game also. Still one home win in thirteen months now, an utterly appalling record. Scary thing is I can't see where the next one is coming from.
  10. Whilst the last 2-3 years have been bad and it was certainly the right time for a change, I can certainly recognise and appreciate the good things Les did in his time here. Nothing is ever black or white but it's a fact he oversaw one of the most successful periods in our history which takes a lot more than luck, whilst at the same time trying to balance the books for the owner. I'm glad he's gone but no ill wishes from me.
  11. Wait until Fulham sack Jokanovic, then offer him the job.
  12. We'll have to disagree then, yes I have seen L2 games before and some of the stuff we saw yesterday was on a par. Panicky sliced clearances, aimless hoofs and plenty of wayward passes not to mention the awful finishing and decision making in front of goal. Two very poor teams, although we still should have won. I agree to a point, although if Gabbi was starting every game I bet he would get more goals than Austin and Long combined (not hard I know). Not saying he's amazing but imo he is our best striker, yet hasn't been given a proper run in the team for nearly two years now, it's hardly surprising his shooting is a bit rusty when he comes on for cameos here and there. And why not give Gallagher a chance? Again he couldn't possibly do worse. Hughes is just picking the same failures again and again and hoping it will come good, as Pellegrino did.
  13. Match of the Day highlights can be very misleading, did you see the whole game? I was there and it honestly wouldn't have looked out of place in League 2, two utterly appalling teams, we were just slightly less appalling than they were. You say the strikers have to take some blame and that is true, but it's the manager who keeps picking the same failing players week in week out. The fact there are still four teams below us shows how garbage this league really is.
  14. I really don't get it with Hughes, he came in last season in a very difficult situation and although the points return wasn't great, he certainly galvanized the team and club as a whole and I was pleased when he got the job permanently. However since the start of the season he has morphed into Pellegrino mk2 with clueless tactics and team selections, constantly playing underperforming players. Austin has done absolutely nothing all season yet starts almost every game while Gabbi who looked so sharp in pre-season is left to rust on the bench yet again. Yoshi is nowhere to be seen and two of our summer signings aren't even considered good enough to get into this awful team. Hughes needs to go but at this point I have no idea who we could get as a decent replacement (not Fat Sam ffs). The squad is poor but there has to be someone out there that can get something more out of them, at least a game plan and an identity. Tbh the whole club needs a clean sweep from top to bottom, sadly it will probably take relegation for something like that to happen.
  15. As far as I recall the ground looked full for both those Bournemouth and Chelsea games, not a chance in hell there were nearly 7000 empty seats at either. What a load of nonsense.
  16. Long starts, no Gabbi or Gallagher
  17. He is our most talented striker, it's criminal how he's been misused over the past year or so. He should be one of the first names on the teamsheet for me and build the attack around him, but bafflingly the clown and now seemingly Hughes only want to play him as a lone striker, which doesn't suit his game at all. He looked really sharp and lively in pre-season, I honestly don't get why Hughes has dropped him to the bench again.
  18. I'm really starting to question what Sparky is doing tbh, he seems to be morphing into Pellegrino with the stupid and random team selections. Gabbi looked excellent in pre season and then once the season starts he can't get a look in and is kept out by rubbish like Long and Redmond. FFS.
  19. I'm no fan of Redmond to say the least, not seen anything up to this point to suggest he is good enough to be anywhere near the team. But credit where it's due, he was good in the second half and caused Burnley a few problems. If he could play like that more often he'd go a long way to changing my opinion of him.
  20. I'm no big fan of Ings but on a loan deal it is low risk and he gives us another option so I don't see what the problem is. Liverpool wanted £20m for him so have obviously realised their only hope was to loan him out, hence why it's last minute. Some people on here are only happy if they are whinging like an entitled six year old. Let's give Ings a chance and see what he can do, he can't be any worse than Long!
  21. Sterling has been absolutely dreadful in this WC. Would rather see Rashford in.
  22. Neymar is an absolute bellend.
  23. 2002 is still my favourite WC, but this one has been good. Incredible how few red cards there have been too.
  24. He looked impressive playing for Atalanta against Everton in the Europa League last season, as a result I signed him for Saints on Football Manager lol. Does appear we are still after a striker which is good news.
  25. That was terrible, Southgate got what he deserved for making so many changes. Colombia are a good side, can't see England beating them.
