  1. "Donald Trump is no friend of Britain". Neither is David Lammy but we still have to tolerate the cunt.
  2. I thought it was an awful game between two very poor teams today, we were far too slow and passive (more than usual). Imo we played better in the home games against Ipswich, Leicester and even Man Utd yet they only yielded a point. Football is a funny old game. Not a pretty win but a vital one, so I'll absolutely take it.
  3. More likely Dibling hasn't been great and looked a bit jaded the last few games, and is a good asset to have coming off the bench in the second half? Makes sense imo. With 5 subs allowed these days, the starting lineup is less important. It's a squad game.
  4. That's just not true though, the exact same things were said about Selles when Jones was sacked, yet by the end of the season he was being booed and called clueless etc. Put Lallana in charge and after a few more defeats the masses will be calling for another change.
  5. I am in the Northam and thought yesterday was the worst it's been so far, which is a shame as it was good against Ipswich. The large problem where I am at least (block 44) is that there is singing to the left and right at the same time but different songs, so it ends up just all fizzling out. Another thing is that we still haven't scored a goal at the Northam, and in truth most of what little attacking action we've had has been at the other end. We really have had precious little to get excited about. Also those in the Itchen North saying they can only hear the away fans, they are literally right opposite you so it's hardly surprising is it. Before this season I was in Kingsland North and for the last few years barely heard the Northam, it had been crap for ages. We need new songs, but we also need a sense of hope and optimism which has been sadly lacking in the PL for years.
  6. That was their only meaningful chance, that aside they never really looked like scoring. You could also ask how many more goals might we have conceded with a more 'active' approach? Fact is Leeds were favourites but we won relatively comfortably.

  8. Onuachu was an entertaining performer, is he a serious option for you? RM: Yeah, definitely. He has to be, otherwise he's not on the bench. He's trained so well after a summer of disruption. There was will he be here, won't he be here? It was tough for him to deal with, I think, but then since the window's shut it's just a different beast. He's been trained so well, always makes his mark in training physically and has got a really good record wherever he's been, apart from here in those six months. Last year he went out on loan for several different reasons, finance, playing in a top league, us having Che Adams and these guys that we knew what they could do. Paul was lesser known to us and this summer was what it was and now he's here. We have to use him if we think he can help us and I definitely think he can. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/24632731.every-word-southamptons-martin-said-arsenal-defeat/
  9. One of Fernandes and Lallana need to be on the pitch at all times, they both ooze class and composure. And there are some right miserable fuckers on here!
  10. People moaning about the atmosphere after just 2 games, in which we've barely even had a shot let alone scored a goal or won a game. There are some valid points being made such as too many people still not wanting to sing, and the lack of songs in our repetoir, but it will take time. Anyone expecting our own version of Dortmund's yellow wall will be sorely disappointed. Unfortunately the layout of St Marys up until this season seems to have convinced many people that the only way we can make any noise is by being next to the away fans which is just bollox. The Northam has been almost silent for a number of years now with the away fans dominating the atmosphere. The changes need time for everyone to bed in, let's at least wait until we've scored some goals and won a few games before saying it's shit. It's been slim pickings so far. One thing mentioned that did surprise me a bit is that I was expecting the safe standing to be new rail seating, not just a metal bar put in front of the existing seats. Wasn't even aware that was allowed tbh.
  11. Couldn't have asked for much more from that lineup. THB has been far worse than Stephens so far so Jack deserves to keep his place ahead of him. Interested to see how Dibling does from the start.
  12. Not really, he started and scored in their last match.
  13. Gift Orban who we were linked with earlier came on as sub to score twice for Lyon tonight. Maitland-Niles also scored!
  14. Foreign commentary but this stream is working fine for me https://fan4.wellnessjourney.pro/4-cardiff-city-vs-southampton/
  15. Quite pissed off about this tbh. Good luck in Brazil Charley.
  16. Probably the last time we played Forest at home under Nathan Jones. Not sure we even had any tactics that day.
  17. There was a startling lack of quality right throughout the side, only KWP really looks like a PL player. Love what Arma did last season but he is so clearly not PL quality and several others looked out of their depth. Absolutely nothing up front, we so badly need a focal point in attack or it's hard to see where the goals are coming from. Very early days so not worth losing too much sleep over but it was a worrying performance.
  18. It started well but there was absolutely nothing to get excited about on the pitch, also quite often different blocks were singing different songs rather than it being in sync. The main issue though is we just don't have enough songs. I think it will be good in the long term but will take time to develop and get organised.
  19. Clarke is the first of Ipswich's signings that I am jealous of. Quality player who I was really hoping we'd sign, but I guess we have other priorities. Really think we need a proper focal point in attack.
  20. Agreed, he made me nervous when we were relying on him in Downes' absence last season. As you say too passive and lightweight for a DM and had the tendency to give the ball away too easily which put us in trouble. That said I do think he has potential to be a good player and a loan with regular game time in the Championship would do his development the world of good.
  21. First off we've payed 15m not 10m for Archer. But the point is we simply can't afford to drop £25m on one player (at the moment). If we did that we'd have no funds to strengthen in the other areas that need attention, so no Archer or GK for example. Obviously this could change if we can bring some money in, which is why it's so important that we shift a few out now like ABK, Tall Paul, KWP etc. Even if we had the money, O'Riley would still have to agree to come here, when it seems likely he has more attractive offers.
  22. Pretty underwhelmed if this is our main striker signing tbh, we've basically signed Sheffield Utd's attack from last season. Gives me Rhian Brewster vibes, scored a few in the Championship but struggled in the PL. Anyway really hope to be proved wrong and good luck to him.
  23. He's bloody awful, wouldn't want him anywhere near Saints. His main attribute is throwing himself to the ground.
  24. I tend to agree, he's never impressed me much when I've seen him but my step dad is a Leeds fan and raves about him, thinks he's gonna go on to big things. Then again he also thinks Kalvin Phillips is brilliant.
  25. So? The rivalry is based on the geography and rivalry of the two cities, not how often we play each other. If anything the scarcity of meetings ramps it up even more when we do play. If you don't understand it I can only assume you're not from Southampton. If you are it makes it more baffling. The buzz from beating the skates is one of the biggest highs you can experience as a Saints fan.
