  1. Agree, Valery is surely our number 1 right back now and unless this Maehle guy can play further forward as an attacking midfielder/winger then it would seem it is an unnecessary £12m to spend. Rather we concentrated on landing somebody like Lookman.
  2. And to be honest I would not be quick to sell Matt Targett either... I like the lad.
  3. So to recap, we have in recent days/weeks been either linked with, or mentioned as being interested in: Djenopo, Seferovic, Ajew, Aye, Goiginger, Lookman, Lallana, Trossard, Almeida, Adams, Connell, Phillips, Aribo And probably a few others whose names escape me right now. Of those, only really Lookman and Phillips (and maybe Adams) have the potential to add some immediate strength to the squad. Also, no centre back mentioned yet either (Please step forward Willi Orban)
  4. Not sure about Rogic I have to say.. Does not seem to fit in to our system. If we are to buy a midfielder and if Leeds fail to get promoted, then it has to be Kalvin Phillips in my opinion. This lad can play anywhere in the midfield, great passer, aggressive, athletic and young... A future International I think. He certainly would fit our template.
  5. Agree Raffa and Nuno would be looked at first I suspect.. I don't feel we are under pressure with Ralph this season certainly.
  6. I reckon if we see a young, pacy forward go into Leipzig then Agustin might well become available at a reasonable price.. I don't think Dzeko is a comparable though..
  7. I think Adams is still very much in our affordability range if we want him, but I have a feeling that Ralph has other targets in mind before him.... One is possibly Agustin, but his asking fee is too unrealistic at this time, plus if Timo Werner moves on as it seems he might then he will get more game time if he wants to stay at RB. I reckon this Aye chap is a realistic target alongside another yet to be discovered by this forum.. James is interesting Man City so that might be a hard catch, but Bowen is probably the best of the championship availabilities and one we could well pursue. Orban is certainly the signing I would prioritise, and if Leeds do not make it then a bid for Kalvin Phillips would be good, and maybe Roberts if Man City are prepared to listen.
  8. Certainly understand your point, but he has been at Leipzig for a few seasons now and maybe they have hit their ceiling in doing what they are doing - Not sure they can push on towards Munich or Dortmund as the top 2 and they are losing their star striker to Bayern this year. Maybe he would fancy a new challenge on bigger wages and a chance to be reunited with Ralph..
  9. Watched Leeds v Villa yesterday and paid particular attention to Kalvin Phillips and what a decent young player he looks to be who could play in a variety of roles in the midfield. Centre Back wise, we should go hell for leather to try and sign Willi Orban from Leipzig. He has been linked to us before, and my German mate tells me he is a commanding presence at the back who is pretty good at heading goals at corners too. A couple of pacy forwards needed too, and I rather get the feeling that Ralph has some candidates in mind here, but £35m for Agustin who we know has been linked will not happen, so maybe there is mileage in this French chap Aye.
  10. Agustin needs to be a lot cheaper than £35m I would suggest.. No clue as to whether they might free up Willi Orbin for sale is there?
  11. I agree with much of what you say and I am not so worried if we do not sign anybody this window. The most important signing we have already made is Ralph, and his strategy and vision is something I quite happily buy into. While I agree the academy at his disposal is currently perhaps not as good as what was available to Poch, youngsters seeing what opportunities they might get under Ralph may well choose us over others in the future and our academy could well move back towards the top of the tree again. I too like seeing young talent given it's chance to flourish, and this seems to be the start of a new ere here which I am looking forward to. The targets we have are OK on the face of it, but I doubt we will see Maelhe this window noting he is a key part of Genk's team that are 10 points clear at the top of the Belgian league, and as already discussed Brum will be fighting hard not to let Adams go as they cannot replace him at the moment. Also as a poster has mentioned, is he much different to Obafemi anyway? Do we really need him? Agustin is a summer transfer if we want him and not for this window noting the price tag. Those moved on or loaned out are all players who have attracted the fans ire in the recent past and surely will not be missed. After all we are not selling PEH, Redmond or Bedanrek are we? Altogether we have enough to reach mid table security and we have a manager the fans buy into for the first time since RonKo, and would trust his judgement.
  12. A great servant to the club over the last 6 years or so. An absolute top class professional who gave his all every time he pulled on the shirt. I remember fondly him putting us 2-1 up against Man City away on our first match back in the Prem in 2012. Cheers Davo, Good luck in all you do
  13. Great lad... Chuffed to bits for him
  14. He was immense! Cannot understand why it has taken so long this season to get him in the side - Easily our best CB in my opinion
  15. Agree. I have heard from somebody who knows him that Mark Bowen no longer wants to work with Hughes as Hughes has completely lost interest in football and can't be arsed.
  16. That would be an exciting prospect.. Hasenhuttl well thought of and did very well at Leipzig who have a focus on youth as we know.. Lookman did really well there after initially looking as though he would be kicking his heels at Everton. German friends of mins say his football is attack minded and good to watch. Mitcheel we of course know and love, and he knows us tooo!
  17. Did well at RB Leipzig, took them into Europe on their debut season in the Bundesliga. Focus on youth too which seems to fit our model, Lookman turned into a good player when he was loaned there last season.. Maybe he can bring along Timo Werner to sort our goal scoring problems out
  18. Well I would'nt mind that all... I wonder if they can get Rangnick along as the DOF...
  19. Not before time. It is clear to anybody with a mud arse that Les's decisions at Manager and Recruitment level have been lamentable over the past 2 to 3 years. I think the persistence with Pell and then blowing the budget on a Monaco reserve who was promptly loaned out to a bottom 3 La Liga side and sitting on the bench there was the last straw. It was either start well this season or toast, and the rest we know...
  20. Out of intensive care it seems which is great news. Wishing you all the best Glenn for a full and speedy recovery.
  21. A decent enough transfer window - Significantly better than the last 2 summers anyway.. Armstrong is the pick of them for me - £7m could be an absolute steal if he plays to his form of 2 years ago.
  22. I never knew him as a player but I heard about his time doing so. He painted my house and i loved talking to him about his playing days. A real genuine and lovely gentleman and I was so sad to hear the circumstances of his passing. RIP
  23. The lad is really coming good, and we would be stark raving mad to sell him.
  24. Really enjoyed that match with good entertainment from both sides. I concur with most of the (non bed wetting) comments before, but I too have to just mention that Armstrong looks a steal at £7m and is just what we need in our midfield. Very impressed with Hojberg and Targett when they came on, and was pleased to see how well Gabbi played too. He was full of running and always trying to make things work. Vestergaard is a beast who has 2 very accomplished feet and an eye for a pass, and Gunn looks a real prospect. Very encouraged by what I saw and well done Sparky on a good pre-season so far. Thinking back to last seasons drubbing by Augsburg and also in 2012 on our Prem return when Udinese (especially De Natalie) came across and tore us a new one, the opposition last night was better than them and we competed really, really well. Much better!
  25. My attitude too
