You've just contracdicted yourself there. You only saw a knife being used "once", asopposed to all the times you see them used at games these days, lol! Just always find the "it was the good old days, compared to the scum today" attitude hypocritical and plainly incorrect to say the least.
  2. You are joking aren't you?

Rubbish, far more stabbings and weapons in those days at the football than now.
  4. I honestly can't think of something I'd less want to do than that.
  5. Er, that's not his point. Just becasue it does happened and has happened, doesn't mean it should be tolerated or accepted.
  6. For once Wenger has a point. a) I'm not 100% sure it was entirely a dive, yes he went down easily, but I've seen a lot worse. b) It creates precedence, that whenever it is felt that a player dived in such a position, a UEFA panel sits in judgement and gives out a 2 match ban - they'll be very busy. Or is it only if the aggrieved club's football association is well enough connected within UEFA and is able along with the media to kick up enough of a storm? c) If the ref had seen it, Eduardo would have been given a yellow card, because the ref "missed it" he gets a two game ban its ridiculous!
  7. No it's not, he's still miles off being anywhere near their first team! No doubt Chelsea will get the lawyers working on this and will somehow find a loophole, rather amusing nonetheless!
  8. I rate him, but it does make sense for him to move on, would surely make sense for him to move back to continental football where his game is best suited? What I don't get is the timing! What has changed in the last month? If he goes and Muurty is out for a while, then we'll certainly need to bring in at least one more midfielder.
  9. Maybe it would, maybe it wouldn't. But if it does over commercialise, it affects that country's football and not the English game. England is already the most expensive place in the world to watch top level football, can you imagine for world cup games? Plus I'd much rather watch England or even a neutral game in a foreign city than Birmingham, Wembley or dare I say it Skatesmouth. Would be an interesting case to argue how much the hosts of recent tournaments have "benefited" from hosting the world cup or euros?
  10. A world cup in this country would just provide a further opportunity for the continued over-commercialisation of football, more shiny plastic new grounds, over priced tickets and a stupid amount of hype, with everyone and anyone jumping on the bandwagon. Also much more fun watching England in some far flung corner of the globe. Agree with you that last night's "events" won't make a difference though.
  11. Good.
  12. Been saying it for as long as I can remember, we lack pace and will never break teams down without it. Pacey widemen has to be Pardew's priority now. Agree with the majority of what has alredy been written. New signings all look good with the exception of Mellis, Thompson and Patterson just don't cut it at this level yet, they may have potential, but that's not enough to perform and win games at this level. Thought it was a poor game, with both teams struggling to play decent football, on a brighter note, I genuinely believe we'll keep improving from here as the new signings gel and settle in.
  13. Huddersfield looked MUCH the better team, the game could have easily ended 4 or 5 -0. Hopefully it'll ensure we bring in at least a couple of signings. Atmosphere was dead in the ground as well, can't remember much worse on a Saturday away from home.
  14. 10 hours and £50 from Watford????
  15. I'm agreeing with you, it is very good, just saying if you're expecting to turn up at a packed out St Mary's tomorrow you'll be disappointed!
  16. I agree, it is good all things considered, but I would never get too excited about the atmosphere/crowd/ticket sales when expecting a thrid of the ground/10,000 seats to be empty.
  17. So it's 7,000 tickets remaining for sale, plus the empty/closed corners? Not bad, but not really anything to get THAT excited about! Looks like it'll be around the 20/21k mark which is more than respectable all things considered.
  18. What has Basingstoke got to do with anything?
  19. Was at both as well, that whole season was class, fast attacking football, loads of goals, should never have got rid of Nichol, easy to say that now I guess!
  20. Thing is how long is it going to take them to sell the rest of these side stand tickets, now they've put it on the OS that behind the goal is £6 cheaper, everyone will just been waiting for those to go on sale!
  21. Are they selling tickets behind the goal yet?
  22. Exactly the sort of player we DON'T need. We need pace up front (and throughout the whole team), can't see Trundle giving us that!
