Just hope to see everyone scrambling for Walsall tickets, think we've only got 2,000 for that one.
-
Take you about 30mins to walk, nice enough stroll on a Saturday morning.
-
Much better Wetherspoons by Holborn tube (big ones either side of the station), Holborn on the Central line as well...

Browns! Ha ha!

My point is there were plenty of empty seats at Charlton away this year. In response to the other poster saying how great our support always is in London.
-
Yeah that's my point, hence bandwagon.....
-
Its midweek, so you'll struggle to do it by train from Southampton. Not sure why we've already got a Wycombe thread, I think its still 4 months away, or have I got that wrong?
-
We didn't even come close to selling out at Charlton this year, plenty of empty seats. I am very happy that we're taking such good support up there and the demand is so high to watch Saints, I'm just saying I hope there is similar enthusiasm for the less popular games, but I won't be holding my breath.....

Mate, I'm certainly not PC and couldn't give a stuff about whether or not he mentioned "immigrants", but the post is funny, where exactly does he think he is going? IT's an afternoon of football at Leyton Orient FFS!
-
:smt046 that whole post!

Methinks you protest too much sir! F**k knows why you feel the need to tell us how long you've been supporting Saints. Orient does seem like a lot of people are jumping on a bit of a bandwagon, its great we're taking lots of support to an away game, would just be nice to see that same enthusiasm for some of the less popular games.
-
I do hope the same interest will be shown for all other away games this season and this isn't just everyone jumping on the bandwagon of a few good results and an "easy" day out.
-
Guess it'd be impossible to ever know anyway, but I've always been under the impression that London crowds in particular in those days would shift around a bit depending on where there would be a decent game.
-
Ha! Now edited!

I thought Hammond, Lallana and Lambert were superb yesterday, Lallana's footwork and close control is something most defenders won't ever come across in League One, Lambert does so much unspectacular/unsung work offereing himself as an outlet for defenders when they have the ball, winning it in the air and playing it simple. Papa Waigo was shocking and full marks to Pardew for the substitution, Antonio coming on helped change the game.
-
Agreed, sure there wasn't 11k empty seats in the ground!
-
Fair play to the lad, he had a decent game yesterday, we've always known he's a good passer of the ball, but he's still as slow as anything and decent left wingers know it and I think he's poor in the air. I think right back is one of the few areas still very much open to improvement.
-
I think he has looked absolutely class this season and in the last couple of games in particular, fingers crossed he's enjoying his football enough here not to want to move and will also look at the likes of Bale and Surman.
-
I've been told about the support at Everton before and the figure quoted of "50", so I guess that's the lowest in recent memory in terms of games where we've actually had an allocation. Never knew that many made it into that Newcastle game, fair play to all those that managed it, Luton was never too hard to sneak into though.
-
I reckon that's an easy one, Newcastle away, circa 93/94 I think, they were redeveloping St James' Park and I know of only maybe one or two Saints that managed to make it in. Luton when they banned away fans was similar, but wasn't too hard for a fair handful to get in, think Newcastle was a real struggle though.

WTF? That's not why the vast majority come to this country! No honour killings in the last 10 years :smt046

Great post and great thread. One slight query though, would fans have really travelled in those sort of numbers back in the late 40s? Would that many have had the finances to do so and was there really the culture of travelling hours to follow ones team?

Milton Keynes doesn't "deserve" any sort of club. If another town or city was to suddenly grow, would they then also deserve a certain size club? You can't compare the way MK Dons entered the league with the way teams originally entered over one hundred years ago, it's a completely different situation. And you don't know that Wimbledon would have gone bust at all. I just find it very, very weird why anyone would "like" MK Dons, unless you're just enjoying a wind up.
