I completely agree and I am pretty sure there is no-one on this thread saying otherwise! I do however believe they could still make more of an effort against the nut-jobs within their communities. Using your example of "The decent Muslims in this country don't bracket us indigenous whites as 'all BNP/right wing thugs'!", it could be argued that they are obviously and visibly challenged by other groups and generally given a pretty hard time. Haven't ever seen the Islam4UK lot having a massive police escort due to an angry counter protest from the larger muslim communities!
-
Unfortunately Islam4UK is more than just one man and there is a genuinely significant and zealous desire for Sharia Law in the UK, yes the individuals seen publicly in these groups are relatively low, but their influence is growing. Look at the number of islamic terrorists that have emerged from the UK in recent years? Choudary and co help create a culture that directly and indirectly encourages this attitude to the western world that can ultimately manifest itself in the form of suicide bombers etc. He/they are a massive recruiting tool for the BNP and EDL and do the muslim community a massive disservice. They promote a set of beliefs at odds to most who believe in fair and equal opportunites and the freedom that we enjoy today. Yes in an ideal world they would just be ignored, but unfortunately that will never happen, human nature being what it is. Could you just confirm how many members Islam4UK must have before the UAF would see them as a concern worth addressing directly?
-
To be honest, I'm not just talking about this proposed demo. It won't happen anyway. But no, I generally don't believe that the UAF really care about race relations in the UK. Deep down the BNP (for example) will be loving Islam4UK, it will be doing their cause the world of good. Turning up shouting at EDL marches will make no difference, looking at why people get angry and turn to groups such as the BNP or EDL will make a difference and I think that should start with individuals such as Choudary etc.
-
Fair play to you mate. Of course it was a generalisitic statement, I can't comment on the individual facebook activities of everyone member of the population who might class themselves "left wing". And too be honest, I'm not talking about this proposed demo in Wootton Bassett in particular. Surely you must agree though there are those divisive "intolerant fascists" that the left seem happy to have a go at and other groups which they leave alone?
-
He/they is much more than that. Just look at the storm they have managed to cause with this. It doesn't necesarrily matter is it is one bloke or 1million, if the UAF were genuinely concerned about race relations in the UK today, they would realise that Islam4UK/Choudary etc are as much of a threat to stability and cohesion than the EDL or BNP. They're the EDL's and BNP's biggest recruiting tool, but if you're happy with that then fair enough........
-
I didn't say they were the SAME! I just feel it is ironic and hypocritical the way certain parties and individuals on the left pick and choose the "fascists" they decide to hate and protest against. Just depends on what they see as "cool" in my opinion. Agree, both sides are as bad as each other and its in both sides interest to wind each other up, lots of media ****e with no real interest in improving ordinary peoples lives.
-
OK, but surely you must see the similarities between why both tne BNP and Islam4UK are found to be offensive, yet you only choose to protest against one group? The views or Islam4UK and other fundamentalist muslims should be as offensive if not more to you and those in your organisation than say the EDL, so why do the UAF turn out without fail to protest against the EDL, but have NEVER protested against anyone like or Islam4UK or anyone similar? I know you can't protest against everything you disagree with, but surely you can see the hyporcisy there? The irony is if you did protest against Islam4UK etc, it would massively take the wind out of the sails of the EDL and BNP, same way if there was a decent sized demo by moderate muslim, would help to shut up the EDL. Won't happen though, becasue it's not a "cool" cause for the white, middle-class, student politics of the UAF...........
-
The last few threads some up everything that is wrong with the left when it comes to this debate. The Oxford English Dictionary defines fascism as "extreme right-wing, authoritarian, or intolerant views or practice", I think this can easily be applied just as easily to the Islan4uk lot, as the EDL, if not probably more. However, it really does not suit the agenda of those on the left such as the UAF etc to protest against them, absolute hypocrits the lot of them.
-
Why do you class Islam4UK as a non-fascist organisation?
-
You would have if we'd been playing Man Utd or Chelsea etc.
-
That's quality, fair play to Greyhound for trying to provide a decent alternative, used them before and they've been excellent.
-
The "Viva Lallana" song is by far the best out of the bunch.
-
I know. When the f**k is Liebherr going to pull his finger out and buy Torres?
-
Think there are shuttle buses from Milton KEynes, but best bet is probably to use Bletchley Station which is a 20-25 minute walk, all depends if youre prepared to pay for cabs or not, makes a big difference.
-
Did he give any reason for the delay?
-
Plus rearranging any games that might be postponed by bad weather, certainly not impossible.
-
Agreed mate, should have tickets on sale a month in advance, can't see any reason why this isn't possible apart from them taking the p**s. Also find it surprising that they're advertising the Milwall game as pay on the day, will that still be the case if we sell 2k (or close to it)?
-
This is taking the p**s, surely someon at Saints must be kicking up a fuss by now to start getting our tickets? Has David Luker said anything about this, he's normally fairly good about communicating with fans?
-
Next Tuesday.
-
True and I'm probably just using it as an excuse to go off on one. Still, will be disappointing if we don't sell out 2000 for a London away game.
-
That's rubbish, where are the 4000 people who wanted to go to Orient? And all those offering £70 a ticket!
-
Was having a debate with someone else recently who was making the same point as you and I don't get it. Why does tickets being sold a week or so later than expected make a ny difference to whether anyone goes or not. Anyone who wants a ticket for this game will get one and it takes 5 minutes on the phone to order one. Still weird that they seem to be delayed.
-
That seemed about their standard today, good numbers of travelling support and I take my hat off to them for that, were loud in the first half. However, 2nd half they were just interested in shouting "pussy, pussy" without doubt the worst, most pathetic chant I've heard at a match and then decided to try and steam into a stand made up of plenty of women and kids etc after the final whistle. Main bugbear is the stewards and police in the northam allowing away fans to do and say whatever they want, chuck stuff over etc and if a Saints fans dares say "boo" back gets dragged out for a talking to. Don't mind a lively atmosphere, but one rule for one etc............
-
Thought we were very poor today and Luton really stretched us, think the last few weeks have been shown us how far we still have to improve. However, anyone knocking Rickie Lambert needs their head testing, we aint going to get a much better striker in this league, so don't hold your breath!
-
Because that's all we had up there, maybe a touch more.
