  1. So Philip Green has been convicted of fraud/tax evasion? Must have missed the news that night. If you believe that what he is doing is at the same moral level as fiddling the benefits system, I fear for your sanity.
  2. No he's not and you know it.
  3. I haven't "dismissed" anyone. Read what I've actually written. Just stating a simple fact I'm afraid.
  4. Maybe so, but much easier to find a few more thousand office/shop or factory workers than it is to find an another multi-billion £ empire building entrepreneur.
  5. I don't see it too far off being "punished", but if you don't want to call it that, I'd certainly use the phrase "strongly disincentivised".
  6. Of course employees shouldn't be mistreated to make their owners profits, but that isn't what Green is being accused of or what we are discussing people here. Those people are in work because of entrepreneurs such as Green. He already pays far more than any of us do in tax, while taking much less out of the system. Why you should individual be punished for being a hard working, entrepreneurial, successful, job and wealth creator?
  7. You're completely wrong I'm afraid. Green puts far more in than he "takes out" (what does he actually take out?), he creates massive amounts of wealth jobs and more revenue for the governement than probably this all the posters on this forum put together. Oh, I'm sure he had it all gifter to him on a plate? Or was just lucky? You don't become that sort of successful businessman without s**t loads of hard work, risk taking and b***s, yet so many in this country would love to take away any incentives for being a wealth cretor, far better to reward people for sitting around on their @rse all day hey?
  8. No, but the OB decide where to focus their "limited" resources and football fans obviously seem far more important than serious criminals unfortunately.
  9. Primarily because they don't earn any money and aren't in a position to earn any money?
  10. With all due respect, I'm sure you could do a survey on the views of those in the construction industry and get some fairly dubious results (I know I work in the industry). There are loads of professions I admire, the armed forces are certainly one of those, I doubt I could manage to do what they do. Still doesn't mean they should be given free tickets just because of the job they have chosen to do.
  11. Surely you could go round in circles all day trying to compare the amount of spare cash a soldier may or may not have compared to others, utterly pointless, as different in every situation and also not really the point of the thread?
  12. Again, who is questioning them? Or not supporting them. I've got a few mates in the forces, I know what they get involved in, they love thier jobs. Still no reason to give away free tickets to them.
  13. Who is questioning our forces? I think everyone on here says what a great job they do and how much they are admired. Still no reason for them to be given free tickets to the football just because of the job they've chosen to do.
  14. Fine, but how you going to achieve that?
  15. Impossible I'm afraid, would cost an absolute fortune. Also, all that would happen is that private schools would then improve accordingly to retain their competitive advantage and that of their pupils.
  16. Talking of schools that create divides and should be banned, schools of any religious kind should not be allowed, can't believe they are still in this day and age really.
  17. Smaller class sizes make a massive difference.
  18. So what are you suggesting? Banning private education?
  19. Exactly, I think our Armed Forces do an excellent job, got a few mates in the forces and nothing but impressed with what they do. However, still don't think anyone should be given free tickets because of the job they have chosen to do, no matter how much they are paid or not as the case may be.
  20. So you could enlighten us all with your wisdom, such as this great contribution?
  21. OK, no they shouldn't get free tickets based simply on the particular job they have chosen to do.
  22. He probably does more for the financial good of this country than the whole of this board put together and all ready pays far more tax than any of us, without taking anything from the system. If I was him I wouldn't want to hand over £300m of my hard earnt money when I already pay into the system far, far more than anyone else.
  23. In amongst the usual stupid humour of your posts there is a good point there. I'd much rather free tickets were given away to disabled or seriously ill kids.
  24. Does anyone know of any examples of potential buyers/directors failing the fit and proper person test?
