SSN reporting that S****horpe say the offer to Adkins is withdrawn
Sour Mash replied to Topcat's topic in The Saints
Jesus wept! It's a f**k up by Cortese, why can't you just hold your hands up and admit it. -
Adkins has NOT signed - and may not do so now either !!!

"Give NC some space"? How exactly does anything written on this forum constitue not giving "NC some space"? -

And most importantly the position this leaves Adkins in. He could end up joining us feeling p****d off and aprehensive over the way the move has gone and the way Cortese is already playing things, rather than feeling its a fresh, positive start. -

I reckon Adkins will still be joining us, but to all those Cortese supporters out there reading that, you have to admit, it really doesn't make great reading? -
Hadn't done the same level of analysis as that, but definitely noted how they've brought through players from "nowhere" and made them into very valuable/saleable assets. How much that was directly due down to Adkins and how much down to other key members of staff at Scunny we'll never really know, but it certainly reflects well. They're currently 11th in the Champ, not a bad achievement with the resources they've had. The challenge will be partly be how he gets on with an established squad, post transfer deadline day, with a whole load of high expectations coming from every angle.

I've got a feeling Adkins will surprise a few people. Got a very decent track record for this level of football. The fact he has gone from being a physio to a successful manager should be seen as a positive, he hasn't taken an easy or conventional route, so must be good to have done so well compared to those who have management handed to them on a plate.
-
That's not his point though. I think everyone is aware that Cortese will only go when he chooses to.
-
Guess it had to happen at some point Bit of Adkins info for anyone who isn't too familiar (yeah I know its wikipedia, but its got most of the basics) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigel_Adkins

Does look like it's going to be Adkins. Bit surprised, as I thought Cortese would go for someone from abroad and a bit more interesting/exciting, but Adkins seems a good, bright, enthusiastic, young coach, with a proven record of getting teams promoted out of this division. I don't think he is an improvement on Pardew, but the fans need to get behind him from the off, absolutely pointless being negative from the start.

Was always under the impression that American beer was just run of the mill bottles of Budweiser type stuff, but found when I went over there the range of beers and ales wasn't too far off what we have over here. The Brooklyn Lager certainly has a fair old kick to it!

Yeah, had the Crown and the Europa recommended to me, the Crown sounds quality, also heard of a pub called something like "Robinsons"??? Seems to be the general advice that the locals are very friendly, as long as visitors act sensibly and I guess don't bring up any "political" subjects in conversation?

Off for a few days and nights in Belfast, has anyone got any tips of places to go, things to do, pubs/bars/areas, all the usual travel advice etc? Planning on doing a Linfield game, doing a tour of the murals and general history of the city, plus the Giants Causeway and maybe go to (London)Derry for the day. Any of these not worth doing? Any other tips for visiting would be greatly appreciated

I reckon someone, somewhere starts these rumours, sits back and laughs at all you lot going round the twist.

5Live Now on an awful week for Saints supporters
Sour Mash replied to dubai_phil's topic in The Saints
Its the same at most clubs, its usually the same old faces get rolled out, partly because of lazy media and partly due to only a handful of people being prepared to make the effort and put themselves on offer. Why this earns Nick Illingsworth the vitriol from some of our fans I'll never know, but it makes those posters look like sad, bitter misfits, frustratedly tapping away at their keyboards, gutted that their own opinions aren't listened to as much as Nick's, while not having the balls or savvy to get themselves out there in the media. -
No, not really. Look at the quote of "Discussions are still taking place between Portsmouth and football's top brass to find a loophole." It'll "only" be 15mins late, they'll blatantly find someway around it. Oh and by the way, are they toast yet?

You watch the Swindon or Rochdale games?

Yet another thread that demonstrates what a bunch of snivelling, bitter, little dweebs inhabit this forum. If you're that concerned that Nick doesn't "speak for you" then make a f*****g effort, put yourself out there to get shot at and lets see all of you running fans organisations, speaking to the media and generally just making an effort. -
Hmmm, I wonder why you were unfazed by those decisions? Maybe its because you very rarely attend any Saints games, yet still litter this website with no end of utter boring, repetitive garbage.
-
My personal guess is that it will be someone foreign, fairly high-level and well respected on the continent, but relatively unknown over here. Don't know why, that's just my feel of what Cortese would go for, can't see him going for any of the usual run of the mill managers listed here, especially after getting rid of Pardew.
-
Ha ha, this opening post sums up the smug, over-intellectualising that so many of the regular posters indulge themselves in, loving looking down at most of our match going support. Cortese's problem is the absolute opposite! He looks at us as idiots, good for one thing and one thing only, to squeeze as much money out of us as possible, while not seeing us as worthy of any information other than his pre-edited official releases from the clubs. The more I think about it, the more I think the suggestion that Cortese's biggest mistake is treating fans as though they are “intelligent” is one of the funniest/most bizarre posts on here in a long time.
-
Oh ffs, we won't be getting Hart. Can't see him appealing to Cortese at all.
-
Fair play to both you and NC. I've not been shy about criticising NC for his PR (or lack of it) in the past, but I think that response is fair and reasonable, without over-committing himself to any promises.

Great isn't it, pity that we do "need" booking fees and increased car parking costs for fans though! -

Good to hear, would be a shame if you'd racked up 4000 posts on an internet forum.
