I wouldn't bother with this clown. Further up the thread he says "I guess until you know what you've spent on players, you don't know what your costs are and how much you need to charge." - because of course, that's how season ticket pricing/releases work
-
IT does seem to be the case though. Compared to the vast majority of other clubs, both this year and last, we really haven't pushed or encouraged fans to get season tickets at all. I assume someone at the club has some sort of financial model that shows the club is likely to make more money from fans paying on the day (not surprising considering the price + booking fee), than shifting a load of season tickets. I guess that model is based on the club having a really good season and demand remaining high and growing throughout the year, as oppossed to a club expecting a rubbish year that hopes/needs to get as much money upfront as possible before s**t team performances drain away a lot of the demand. Makes sense financially, just a pity, as I reckon our crowds could have been even higher this year with a positive campaign to sell season tickets upfront.

All very different players with different attributes. I wouldn't ever really compare what Forte offers and Connolly and as you say, Barnard had hit such form, you wouldn't drop someone in form. Connolly hadn't had the chance to show Adkins what he could do in matches, the others did.

The Grand Place and area around it are very impressive, fair few decent bars dotted around that you can get a good (expensive) beer in, but toherwise, as those above have said, it is a s**thole! Better off trying somewhere like Bruges, much nicer or do a day trip to Ypres, would definitely recommend that.

Definitely keep hold of Connolly and Jaidi, they've been two of our best players over the last couple of months and wouldn't have done anywhere near as well without them. You'll struggle to get too much better than those two.

Best and Worst away game all season
Sour Mash replied to ladysaint's topic in Saints Away Supporters
Would disagree with you there, been to Swindon a fair few times now and hate the place! For another one where the result was s***te, but a place I'd be more than happy to go back to was Rochdale, some good pubs up there, decent locals, decent little ground, combined it with an overnighter in Manchester didn't do any harm either! -

Yeah, completely agree with Tranmere being the worst by quite a long way. Torn between never, ever wanting to go there ever again and wanting to go just one more time to exorcise a few demons, win 4-0, find a cracking pub, full of sound, decent locals, get great treatment from the local police and stewards...........who am I kidding, should know when to quit after 3 times there! Yep, would also agree with Hartlepool, did overnighters for both games up there and both were top trips. Same goes for Carlisle, really enjoyed both days up there, despite performances on the pitch being a bit "Hit and miss". For another one that I won't miss depsite a great result there is Plymouth, never massively enjoyed Exeter either or Yeovil for a midweeker, cr@p little town which made Hartlepool look like Las Vegas! -
Would be difficult for them to do market research of people that don't go to watch their clubs or that only go very rarely. Also, I guess those that do currently go regularly wouldn't be too happy about their Saturday routine's being changed to suit people that actually support other clubs?
-
Agreed, I've often thought that. I'd do a lot more non-league games if they kicked off Friday evenings or sundays etc. Guess someone must have done a bit of research into it and worked out that it really wouldn't make too much difference.

Best and Worst away game all season
Sour Mash replied to ladysaint's topic in Saints Away Supporters
As a slightly different slant, what are the best away days when the result was s**t? Or the worst away day when the result was decent? Stuff like Orient, Brighton, Plymouth, Oldham etc are always going to be highlights. For good away day despite the poor result, I'd say Huddersfield, I've actually enjoyed both my trips up there despite the dire results. One of the better northern towns we've visited, plenty of good pubs to crawl from between the station and the ground. For a rubbish away day despite a good result - Colchester. Been there twice now and haven't enjoyed either, pain in the @rse to get to, no atmosphere, struggle to find a decent pub, just a generally dull, uninteresting away day. -
it cant be said now that SMS does not create a great atmosphere
Sour Mash replied to OldNick's topic in The Saints
Yep, that's pretty much my thoughts on it all. I wonder what people's thoughts are on the likelihood of 1-3 being available for next season? Or will they always be kept as the very last option once the rest of the ground is sold out? -

Yeah that's what they do at the back of block 4, but in my opinion there is a fairly significant difference to having a few slightly lively Saints fans in front of you or 3k Leeds/Skates etc. Plus what is the actual capacity of blocks 1-4? How far round would you have to go to give 3.2k and how much for the full FA Cup allocation? The way I look at it, there just isn't enough benefit in it for the club to balance out any hassle or change it may require. -

For me the blocks 1/2/3 will always be objected to as who would want to shell out a small fortune for an executive box to have 3k+ Skates/Milwall/Leeds/Man Utd stood infront of them. Plus how far towards the dug outs and directors seating would you have to go to provide the required allocation for cup games in particular? Don't think it would fit. Then there is the problem of segregating downstairs in the Itchen, entrances etc, just not designed for it. -

Cheers, thanks for asking around anyway. -
Absolute bell-ends the lot singing that and waving their season tickets, were told in no uncertain terms to shut the f**k up by me and a mate.

This debate pops up every couple of months. There are few "ends" in teh football league that provide better support on a regular basis (and not just a handful of big games) than the Northam. Yes it will be outsung now and again by the like of Man Utd, but that's the exception as opposed to the rule. There is no practical place for the away fans to be moved to. AN easy and obvious solution to improving the atmosphere and drowning out large numbers of away supporters is to re-open blocks 1-3 of the Itchen............. -

I always find the stuff about a great atmosphere at the Dell a bit of a myth. I loved the ground and night games always had a buzz about them and once Saints fans got in the covered Archers Road end they made a racket, but otherwise it was never that good, really not helped by having two completely uncovered ends. I regularly moan about our fans and their choice of songs etc, but we are far, far better than the majority of other grounds these days. -
Who was that bloke doing all the commentary and running about today ???
Sour Mash replied to mel1961red's topic in The Saints
This. How f****g annoying was he? Could see the players and officials didn't want anything to do with him either! -
Was going to say is this actually cricket related! Would be a good day out anyway that, you should book up some train tickets.....
-
Oh stop crying you twerp, or tell us more about what a hero you're going to be over in the middle east, I found that interesting and relevant to the thread..........

Glad we're in agreement...........

Sod all that, where is going to be best for a p**s up?
-
Well I'm sure it doesn't really matter to you as you won't be getting one. Can sort of understand them waiting until promotion is sealed, but hopefully they'll be an announcement pretty soon, I'm guessing within the next week. Know of a few people who tried to buy tickets in the first week of last season and were knocked back. Reckon we could have sold s**t loads of half season tickets as well. I guess the club must have made a fortune with some of the crowds and the amounts paying full price every other week....

Bit random. Where did you hear that from?
