  1. These two posts sum it up for me. Can't believe some Saints fans are still trying to be so smug on here, it's provided me with no enjoyment whatsoever, let this thread drift on into history.
  2. Also, as somone stated earlier, media blackouts are often used if there is going to be a 2nd related trial later on, the blackout continued until the 2nd trial is finished so that the result of the first trial doesn't prejudice the 2nd which I think might be the case in this instance.
  3. Not really. It says they're "hoping" to have info by then. Sort of e-mail I write at work all the time when I don't really know what's going on and try to blag it a bit with a vague answer. Think the ticket office had said in the middle of May they should have info out by the end of the month.
  4. Boring. Everyone is aware of credit cards and/or the need to save. What most are saying is it a) it would be nice to have what pretty much every other club in the country do and let us know what to expect re season tickets (no-one is @rsed about handing over their money now). b) I know plenty of Saints fans who would have bought a season ticket if they'd be on sale the week after the Walsall game, but have now blown their money on festivals, holidays etc. Yes, the hardcore will always renew, but there are plenty of fans who couldn't organise a p**s up in a brewery and who's focus and organisation towards watching Saints is all over the place. These are the people that could have been signed up with an innovative, aggressive marketing campaign for the couple of weeks after the Plymouth and/or Walsall games.......
  5. Happens in loads of trials - media blackout until a verdict is reached, something to do with influeincing the jury etc.
  6. Where did I mention "top whack"? I said I had a feeling it would be than a small increase. And as for not charging top whack unless you have got a full house, both QPR and Leeds seem to be realising that a full house is not necessarily the main priority for optimising gate receipts, but rinsing out as much cash as you can from the hardcore supporters that unfortunately will pay anything they have to in order to watch their side.
  7. Well I've got a feeling it'll be more than a "small increase" - not something a necessarily have a problem with, would be good to know either way though...................
  8. Well yeah, obviously I'm making those sort of assumptions, just don't see the harm in telling us what will actually happen, don't really expect that's too much to ask.
  9. Yawn. How many times have we heard all this now? When they were competing in their latest FA Cup Final? Or we were told how they were certainties for relegation last year? Or were "toast"? How many people posted the stupid "toast thing? They were reasonably competitive last year and will probably be so again this year. Yes, these new owners don't seem the type I'd want at Saints, but I'm fairly confident in my assumption that they haven't bought the club to simply wind it up and will be looking to speculate a bit and kick on next season, however risky that may be in the long-term. I very much hope I'm proved wrong, but some of the self-congratulations on the last couple of pages from Saints fans makes me cringe. How can anyone find what's on this thread entertaining or enjoyable? It has completely the opposite effect on me!
  10. So despite the endless pages of incorrect predictions on here, it looks like they're getting away with it as I expected all along. Expect to see a reasonably competitive Skate side this coming season.
  11. Exactly. It's not about wanting to "pay out money early", but it would be nice for the club to do what pretty much every other club in the country does and bother to keep supporters informed of what is happening, will I be paying £350/£400/£450 etc, will I be paying it in May (well obviously not now), June, July or across a period of time.....Some people are clearly not effected by such things, but it would be handy to at least be told what to expect, I don't think that is having particularly high expectations of the club is it?
  12. I had my money taken out of my account on Friday! No e-mail confirmation though as to which tickets they were for.
  13. With our current squad I think that's quite accurate. It's a much tougher league than a lot on here think. Hope the Skates struggle a lot more than that though! Out of interest, anyone have similar lists from bookies at this time last year?
  14. You reckon? Plenty of not particularly physical players have came through the ranks of English clubs. On the basis that they looked as good relatively speaking at 14 as they do now they'd be snapped up straight away.
  15. The "Ian Wright" generation............
  16. Thank f**k for that, for a minute then I thought you were arguing that Saints fan's arrogance was on a par with those from United Can understand you being a little unclear as I know you rarely get to attend Saints games.
  17. No we haven't been massively arrogant this season at all. I'm not going to say we haven't shown some arrogance at times, but relative to our greater resources and support we've been reasonably decent. A lot of the "we're Southampton we do what we want" is tongue in cheek and is no-where near on a par to the things I've seen from United fans over the years.
  18. Yeah you see the odd barca shirt around, same as with some of the lads I play 5-a-side with wear Spain or Holland shirts, still no-where near the volume of Manchester United supporters across the South of England. How many southern English Barca fans are in your place of work? And how many Southern English Man Utd fans are in your place of work? I don't know about you, but I don't have to put up with too many glory hunting Barca fans in my office........
  19. No nothing like that at all I'm afraid. Fail.
  20. Quite. But we are still far more of an English club than United. How are they an English team, apart from simply happening to be based ina part of England, which is the post that I was responding to? And you ignored the rest of my post? From when I first went to see Saints play at Old Trafford back in the mid 80s to the present day, you're far more likely to see an Irish tri-clour amoungst their support than the usual St George's Cross that you would see with the majority of other English clubs.
  21. You ever seen Nani play? I agree, don't particularly like Barca, boring with their slow build up play, love diving too much and play the ref an absolute treat, just can't see why anyone Saints fan could bring themslefves to wanting United to win, seen more c**tish behaviour by United players/managers and fans over the years to comfortably out-weigh any other club.
  22. And another couple of thousand kids across the south of England deciding to support Man Utd rather than their own local side. I can't see how in anyway it would be "good for English football", it would be good for Manchester United and all who have a vested interest in them, be that supporters or investors.
  23. Yeah, good point, never seen United players diving in the past..............
  24. American owned, with a Scottish Manager, a team of few Englishmen and a support base made up of those who love to make the most of the fact that they don't like or consider themselves English (with the old chants of "Argentina" and "Republic of Mancunia" banners) and a significant number of their home support coming from outside England? I hope Barca thrash them and I don't even like Barca. Can't stand Rooney, Nani or Ferguson, hope to see at least one of them in tears at the end and the more c**tish sections of support having had an utterly s**t day out.
