The point of the story is that it is an away game to Hull; If you think its become pretty common place for Saints away support to be made up of a large number of people that have got tickets through others season tickets, can you imagine Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal? I think both United and Liverpool have started to implement some sort of checks at away turnstiles which might be how this bloke got caught out, not sure.

Exactly. Perhaps Italian authorities have different rules on away/European tickets, but you don't need any kind of purchase history to buy home end tickets, just matching id, for the name they put on your ticket.

Most Brits that go to work in Europe are highly skilled, specialists that won't have a problem continuing to work abroad. Plus plenty go to Australia, Singapore, USA, New Zealand without any problems currently. As stated before the EU is in a mess and probably won't survive anyway.
