  1. SSN often say "coming up" bla bla and then don't actually show it until 45-55mins later! Keeps people who are interested watching I guess. Might also indicate how important they feel the JPT is if an injury to Miller or Gunter is headlined first!
  2. Spot on. One of the best signings we have made in a long time. Looks as though he can easily score a goal a game at this level. "Rickie Lambert Southampton goal machine!"
  3. Saw it online in between it freezing every 2seconds! Falling in love with Antonio - surely Papa can't get in the team ahead of him now! Great goal and what a sexy beast
  4. So excited about this game and the whole day out to be fair! Let's sing so loud that their shabby ground falls apart! It's gotta be 3-1, hasn't it?! Lambert (2) and Lallana
  5. Play Papa on the right wing or stick him on the bench - I'm sure Connolly will keep himself onside a lot more and he has already scored a goal from further out than the tap-ins that Papa has got so far this season!
  6. Ordered 4 tickets including travel this afternoon at about 2pm and the guy on the phone said there were only 11 tickets left! Guessing that may have been before the latest allocation of 600 came through though? Either way it should be an awesome day out! Bet we will drown the home fans out too with our singing! COYR!
  7. True! Personally, though, I don't mind how good or bad the goals are that we score - we can score ugly goals all season for all I care as long as we win games!
  8. Agree that there will probably be between 18-20k for tomorrow's game with everyone expecting a Saints win and witnessing a Saints win! COYR!
  9. It's awesome that Wally is with us and after reading that article it looks as though he's already made a huge impact. Hopefully people like him will stay at the club for many years as they are key to creating a strong backbone throughout the side. Hoping for a clean sheet tomorrow and a nice win to kickstart a good run of results!
  10. October/November. Doubt he will be in any matchday squads until December though
  11. Yeah I agree with you! Also, in terms of players coming in, we only really seemed to be signing out-of-contract players on freebies anyway (Lambert aside), so there's no reason why AP won't snap up a few more in the coming weeks. The time for re-assessment will be January - if we are in a decent position with a possibility of play-offs then I'm sure some cash will get splashed and if not then I'm sure it will be next summer that we see the money as promotion next season appears to be a must for all staff and fans
  12. Used to play cricket for Jersey with Brett a few years back when we were about 16. Not sure what he's like these days but back then he was an arrogant big-head who knew he was too good for his age group and everyone in the side loved him and wanted to be his mate. Used to really annoy me because he used to moan about the coach being clueless behind his back and everyone would laugh - arrogant ****. So yeah, hope we don't sign that guy!
  13. I keep seeing Thedelldays posting on here and honestly cannot remember a single cheerful, encouraging or positive comment that he has ever made! Constructive criticism would be acceptable, but constant moaning and whinging is just irritating! Mate, we are all majorly fed up both with today's result and how the season has started but try and take the positives out of things - AP is building his own team in an efficient financial manner (ie without going out and spending millions on player after player) and I believe that in our last two games against Brum and Stockport we have seen consistent improvement. Our first win is just around the corner and could well spell a long run of good form. Cmon man we all need to trust AP and the owner as I believe that, although mid-table is probably all we will achieve this season, they are going to build a very good squad here at Saints which should see promotion achieved next season. We just have to have a bit of patience as it's clear that the not-so-distant future is bright, and it's red and white!
  14. Yeah agree with you on that as he would cover at RB effectively but then you've got the problem of lack of depth at CB again - if Perry's going to be employed as the regular RB while Murty's out then that leaves Thomas and Trotman as the CB pairing with Lancashire as cover...and no one seems to think Lancashire is up to standard so suddenly the CB position looks very thin on the ground again! If indeed Murty is out for a long time then another defender, be it a RB or CB, looks pretty essential
  15. Agreed that he's not the quickest but don't think that's the problem - Murty isn't quick either but his positional sense, anticipation and reading of the game means he is a very effective RB. Unfortunately, James' lack of experience both in general terms and at playing in a postion which isn't natural for him means that these qualities are just not there. Played very well in his natural CM position tonight and unfortunate both for him and the team that he will probably be shafted in at RB again due to Murty's nasty injury
  16. If James' lack of pace is a reason why he shouldn't be played at RB then I doubt Perry would make up for that!
  17. Wouldn't Gillett take the corners if he were playing? Don't understand how he doesn't get in the team, we are crying out for his energy, enthusiasm and work rate in the middle of the park as he at least gets stuck in! Anyway, that's off the point... Correct me if I'm wrong but when we first signed Schneiderlin wasn't he labelled as an awesome set-piece taker? Have yet to see him take a corner, free kick or penalty...
  18. Hopefully whatever 'style' of football we play will reflect on who we are playing. For example, a team packed with tall, strong players will mean that hitting balls up to Lambert and co will generally be ineffective (even though Lambert is undoubtedly good in the air). On the other hand, teams seemed to realise how poor and vunerable we were in the air last season and teams therefore often adopted a different 'style' when playing us as they knew they could win the aerial battles. I don't think one style of play should be adopted and stuck to no matter who the oppostion are - JP did this last season and refused to mix things up and we became predictable and easy to counter. Surely we have scouts who scout the opposition before a game and therefore, after being informed of how an opposition team plays, we should adapt our gameplan and 'style of play' in order to counter that team and gain the advantage over them tactically.
  19. Please don't take too long Jaidi! We really need you for Saturday! What a boost that would be to have him sign today or tomorrow. Pardew seems sensible and realistic with his transfer targets, too, judging by that. Roll on Saturday!
  20. Where did you get those figures from? Personally, even with a part-time job, money spent on tuition fees, house, travel to and from uni (flying from Jersey they are crazy prices), food and Saints games are leaving me more and more in debt each year. I shouldn't be doing it but I won't miss a Saints game when I'm there. Still, at almost 22 looks as though this year is going to be even tougher financially since they took away the student ticket option. If the club weren't happy that not enough students attended games last season then by removing the student option there are clearly going to be even less this year - certainly a lot of my friends the same age as me who i convinced to come last season will think twice now which is a shame. I'm sure that by keeping the student option, similarly to the senior option, the club would only benefit by gaining more spectators due to the reduced price, but there we go. It's not like students have a full-time income like the majority of adults, either, so why shouldn't they have a few quid knocked off? Students will soon be 'adults' and paying the full price due to having full-time jobs, and rightly so.
  21. + 1 Good post
  22. You are seriously wrong buddy. Being a student myself I can tell you how wrong you are to generalise based on stereotypical views. Having taken a gap year myself in order to work and save enough money to actually afford to go to uni I am now entering my 3rd year at the age of 21 and soon-to-be 22. A number of my friends who attend matches with me are the same. Let me tell you that nearly all the money I save I spend on attending Saints games during term-time (in the holidays I live in Jersey). The rest I spend on food and then alcohol if I can afford it, but make no mistake, Saints are my priority and always will be. As I am 22 soon I will most likely be charged full price even though I am as much of a student as anyone else and perhaps not one of these stereotypical students you seem to be referring to. I could make a stereotypical comment about you based on what you just wrote but I won't - maybe, though, you should think about exceptions to the rule before you write such a generalised thing as that post really wound me up!
  23. Yeah have to agree with that. Bit annoying on a personal level to think that some adults may be using Junior STs or kids tickets and saving themselves a lot of money when I sometimes get charged an adult fare because apparantly my student card isn't 'acceptable'. No reason why the guy wouldn't accept it but was the same guy at the ticket office who denied me a student ticket three times last season although I showed him the student card and consequently had to pay full price. We lost each time this happened, too!
  24. Ha ha what a shame that it took a Pompey fan to mention KD and that none of us listed his name before! If he performs as he did last season then he is up there with the best for sure
